Here are the top ten charting US one-hit wonders from 1981. How many do you recognize? If you recognize them, check them off. You can post your favorites in your replies.

Just the Two of Us
Greatest American Hero

Those are the only ones on that list I recognise! Grover Washington Jnr was certainly a great musician.

I recognized most of those songs listed, in particular the songs by Grover Washington, Terri Gibbs, Joey Scarbourough and Roseanne Cash.

I recognize "Just the Two of Us", "Greatest American Hero" theme, "Somebody's Knockin'" and "Breaking Away". A few of the other songs I recognize the name, but couldn't tell you how the song goes so I didn't check them.

I only recognize Yarbrough and People, Grover Washington and Joey Scarbourough by the titles of the song. I probably would remember more if I heard the song.

Grover Washington Jr - Just The Two Of Us 6 26.09%
&
Dottie West - What Are We Doin' In Love

And Dottie was not a 1 hit wonder... she has lots of greatest hits (http://www.cdnow.com/from=sr-181894/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=1808362464/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/discography.html/ArtistID=WEST*DOTTIE).

As for Steve's reply, Dottie West was a one hit-wonder on the pop charts, she never scored another top 40 pop hit in the US, even though she was big on the country charts teaming with Kenny Rogers.

Isn't that a great song? My favorite, though, is Balance.

Just like Recker, these were the only two songs on the list I recognized. "Just the Two of Us" would have to be my favorite of the two I recognized.

I remember the first 3 and the last one. By the by, speaking of The Greatest American Hero, rumor is that they (they being the mystery men and women of Hollywood) are planning on making a movie based on the t.v. show. I suppose I will just have to check it out if they do!

Didn't John Schneider have atleast 2 hits? Although on country charts I'm sure.

Theme From 'Greatest American Hero' is my favorite. Only know 1/2 of them, are most country artists? That would account for my not knowing them

He had three others make the hot 100, but no others made the top 40:

Dreamin'
Still
In The Drivers Seat

Yikes. I did better with the list from 1980. Again, I would swear some of these songs were older, especially the Lee Ritenour song (I still remember hunting down Ritenour albums with my dad).

So besides "Is It You" I also recognized "Just the Two of Us," "Greatest American Hero," "Somebody's Knockin'" (I should remember that one, I still have the 45), "It's Now or Never," and "Breaking Away."

I remembered a few, Greatest American Hero (used to love that silly show when I was a kid), Just the two of us (and I even liked the other version of it done by Will Smith), Somebody's watching (I used to have the 45 of this one, way back when), and Dottie West (http://bgagner.juliegates.net/dottie.html) (Boy did *she* have a hard life, poor lady), I remember John Schneider doing stuff, but just don't remember the song now. My dad used to have a "Dukes of Hazard soundtrack for his 8-track player in the car and we'd have to listen to it wherever the family went.

WOW! I didn't do to well on this one and I listened to the radio alot in 1981, so maybe if I heard the others I would recall them. I remember Grover, Joey Scarbury, John Schneider, Yarbrough & Peoples and Balance. I don't usually like ballads, but Just The Two Of Us was pretty good. The rest I recall as being so-so.
