View Full Version : Robbed? Trixter 4-14-02, 02:12 PM Hey Y'all, Have any of y'all ever been robbed, had your house broken into, or held-up at gunpoint? 80sSmurf 4-14-02, 02:44 PM Appartment broken into once...back in '95... Never been held up @ gunpoint, but I've seen my share of knives and baseball bats Iluvthe80s 4-14-02, 03:00 PM Never had my house broken into, but I have had my car broken into. They stole my CD player. idexpectnoless 4-14-02, 03:57 PM been lucky - have never been robbed - except when I was coaching baseball DC Rebel 4-14-02, 05:35 PM I just had my home being broken into a few months ago. They got my DVD Player and some dvd's. There really was not much in the house to take. As far as the gun thing goes, I have never had a gun pulled on me. However, I was walking with a buddy when some gang members came out of nowhere and shot him 16 times in the back. Needless to say, I took off in the opposite direction. Boggle 4-14-02, 05:51 PM I can think of twice I've been broken into. The first was a garage at a house in Bluffton where I used to live, though I can't remember what was stolen. The second time (also in Bluffton) someone broke into my car at an auto repair shop and stole an equalizer, almost getting the radio as well. Have never been held up at gunpoint. Caligula 4-14-02, 05:54 PM My house has never been robbed, however I have had a car stolen and destroyed. I've never been held at gunpoint but I have had someone at a party in Toronto take me outside and put a knife to me, he never cut or stabbed me, just threatened Cartoon_Chris 4-14-02, 06:05 PM Yes, the family home was ransacked in '94. About a month later, the (furnished) basement flooded and destroyed a whole bunch more family property and keepsakes. Worst summer of my life. TopCat 4-14-02, 06:48 PM Never! Thankfully. While I lived at home that was never an issue. Not with a black Chow and a black wolf/border collie mix. :D Sure come on in but make sure you have a will made out. Here I have a killer cat...NOT!! She would most likey greet them at the door and want to be petted by the burgler. Boggle, I think it's a good thing you moved! :p sassy 4-14-02, 07:22 PM Held up twice with a gun pointed at me. Partied at a friends house and robbers came in and made us get on the floor. aaron 4-14-02, 07:34 PM Robbed and house broken into...yes. Held up at gunpoint...no. Back in 1998 I lived in a real s--thole apartment. (ok so I was destitute) I would let the neighbor kids come over and play games on my computer at the time. Well I had just gotten paid the day before and had about $960 in an envelope sitting on my desk. Came home to find my place had been ransacked and the money had been stolen. My dad said he saw 3 little punk kids walking down the road flashing cash, but we had no proof. I was so pissed it took me 4 hours to cool off and I wanted to kick their asses anyway, but I didn't have any evidence. My family passed around the collection plate (so to speak) and within a week I moved out of that s--thole apartment. Even my co-workers offered to pay bills for me. Thats the only time I have been robbed. Ever since then, I don't allow anybody in my home that I don't know. Too many valuable and irreplacement items. I can only hope that those punk kids who took the money bought some drugs and killed themselves. Brand1974 4-14-02, 07:51 PM Dang, reading this thread is something else. It's amazing how things like this happen. Back in Jan 01' some idiot broke into my locker at the health club, stealing my jeans which had my identification and credit cards in it, and he went on a shopping spree with it. Luckily, I wasn't responsible for it, but it was a bitch calling all the companies and having to get a new drivers license. Anyways, the bozo has a history of doing that, because he had done it before(to other people), and then 5 months later after he did it to me, he got caught doing it to someone else. Needless to say, he was arrested and his car was searched, and they found numerous credit cards, IDs, and one happened to be my membership ID card. I was summons to appear at his court date where he was sentenced to 18 months in jail. He appealed it and then I was summons to appear in Circuit court. The idiot didn't even show up and was sent back to jail for the 18 months as far as I know. Other than that, I was never robbed, or held up, or anything. Hopefully, that will never happen. Roemello 4-14-02, 11:27 PM Was indirectly robbed once....actually it was my father's house that got robbed, but it was my stuff that got stolen...a good 40+ nintendo games. Needless to say it pissed me off, but in another sense it was good because it was the catalyst to steering me away from the element I was involved with as I knew they were the ones that ripped me off....little shitmonkeys. As fate would have it though, I have each and every game (and then some) that I once had thanks to emulation, so I really haven't lost a thing in the end :) ValJ 4-14-02, 11:36 PM My house, no. But my husband's car was broken into. They stole his cigarettes, 10 of his cassettes, a couple dollars, and his eye glasses !?! WTF? He found the eye glasses on a neighbors garage roof a few days later, mangled beyond recognition. Here's the stumper: My husband had taken my boombox to work with him that day (worth about $150) and forgot to bring it in.....THEY LEFT IT!! Talk about stupid parents....they can't even teach their kids how to be a bad element properly... ImSoooSure 4-14-02, 11:39 PM Originally posted by idexpectnoless been lucky - have never been robbed - except when I was coaching baseball Did you have a base stolen?:p I have had my store robbed three times. Luckily since we moved about 7 or 8 years ago we haven't had any problems. I've never been held at gun point. I would freak! I have caught shoplifters and gone after them. I caught a pair of ladies and confronted them. They took off and I went after them while my mom called police. They were arrested and had drugs and tons of stolen stuff in their car. I also caught another set of girls stealing but was advised NOT to go after any more shoplifters. I called police with their license number and nothing was done. A week later I was at the mall and saw them shoplifting from a department store. I called police and they pulled them out of the dressing room and arrested them. They admitted they stole from us. We actually got our money back out of them! These little theives did not look at all like theives either. One of them was a firefighters wife. You just never know! Vincent 4-15-02, 12:00 AM Originally posted by ImSoooSure These little theives did not look at all like theives either. One of them was a firefighters wife. You just never know! I know what you mean, I used to work in a department store and about 80% of the people we would catch shoplifting from us did not fit the 'stereotype' theiver. They were usually respectably dressed and well kept, and came from middle class and even upper middle class backgrounds. And there did seem to be more women shoplifters then men. I think these people had some psychological problems going on. Now me personally, I've been lucky and I have never been robbed. I did lose a wallet once when I was 18 while sitting in a high school cafeteria, it fell out of my back pocket and I know some guys sitting behind me probably found it, they just never wanted to give it back to me. Shakey 4-15-02, 12:05 AM Nope. Can't say that I have. Why? Looking for victims? :p Mary 4-15-02, 01:03 PM There have been a lot of bank robberies around here lately. I'm positive that I would freak out if I were ever in that kind of situation. The most I've had to deal with personally was an unsuccessful car break-in. They made a mess of my tail lights & trunk latch with a crowbar, but couldn't figure out how to open the trunk, LOL. I was upset at the time, but it's funny now; it became a lot funnier after I found out my insurance would cover the whole thing. wavemaster 4-15-02, 01:36 PM Originally posted by TopCat Here I have a killer cat...NOT!! She would most likey greet them at the door and want to be petted by the burgler. Remind me to bring some kitty snacks then. Oh, and something nice for the other kitty, too. My cars were being robbed twice...back in 1988, they smashed in a side window of my station wagon and snatched a cheap jeans jacket worth of probably $20...while they left my stereo (worth: $500) untouched. It was actually more expensive to replace the smashed window...can you say "stupid"? ;) In 2001, I was more unlucky when some bastard stole my Kenwood radio and CD changer by punching a hole through the door just below the handle and doing some damage to the interior. Plus, that assclown left some blood behind...too bad it wasn't enough so that dude bleeded to death. Never was threatened with a weapon, but back in the 80s, a gang of three clowns tried to rob me while my friend was just away to take a whizz. I have managed to keep them at bay until he returned...and then we had kicked their poor asses. Don't mess with Rugby players! :D cultleader 4-15-02, 02:33 PM I had a car stolen from me once(just bought it a month earlier). I was also shot at once,I was walking up to the store(I lived in a really bad neiborhood at the time)and I heard shots and a bullet wized past my ear(I don't know if they were shooting at me,or if I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time)needless to say I got the hell out of that neiborhood not too long after that. Pagan 4-15-02, 03:50 PM Car stolen once.....held up at knifepoint on the subway when I was 14. The f**ks took my sneakers! sassy 4-15-02, 03:56 PM The f**ks took my sneakers! I can understand why someone would steal sneakers now.. they our outrageous. But damn back then (way back then ) they couldn't have been worth much  The80sAngel 4-15-02, 05:21 PM I've had my house broken into -twice-. The first time they only got as far as the garage and didn't take anything. The second time (garage again), they decided that since the alarm was a problem, they'd nick my motorcycle. I did eventually get it back, but the repairwork needed cost me major dosh. While we've been here, a kid attempted to sneak on the bus and nick stuff, but the crew caught the little bugger and the police carted him off with nothing lost. I seem to be a magnet for theives on a personal level too. I've had my backpack stolen several times - the most upsetting being when the bloke pushed me down and pulled it off my shoulder, popping my arm out of the socket. I have the worst luck. helloman 4-16-02, 11:17 AM Some years ago: First I thought he is a friend, we met us nearly daily and we did a lot of things together like bodybuilding and party`s. Once he showed me his illegal weapons. And he showed me something that don`t exist. Once I saw him beating up another big boy for a very small debt. That day I left the disco first, I had to piss and there was a tree (late hour I prefer pissing outside). Then my so called "friend" and his connection came outside too and I heard both talking about me. My "friend" replied: "Killing him would be to simple". I appeared from my hiding place and looked into very astonished eyes. I saw the other boy the next day with a broken arm. I never met him again. Half a year ago I was attacked here in town by four drunken men. With police and ambulance and a big show for the people around. One of them said to me that I gonna get killed but I donīt know why. Now they are condemned to pay 500 Euro (about 500 Dollar) each for this. I try to avoid any trouble and do all possible preventions. :) That Guy Next Door 4-16-02, 12:09 PM Never been robbed, but saw a lot of people have been around me ! ah arf arf arf arf ! Probably because now that I'm on my own , I'm not quite as rich as when my parents money was involved and I dress like a hobo anywhere ( clothes easily get torn while running in the forest ! ). Why would someone robbed me when I own so lil' and look so miserable ? TGND " So you've been robbed ? arf, nyark nyark nyark, ha ha ha ha , ..........sorry ! nope, never happened to me ! " 80sTrivia 4-16-02, 01:13 PM Fortunately, I've never been robbed or had anything major stolen. I'm sure the law of averages will bite me in the behind one of these days... |
