If you like New Order check out Joy Division. They literally are what New Order was before their singer hung himself. I like them much better than the second iteration.

Bizarre Love Triangle was ahead if it's time.
My absolute favorite song was 'Atmosphere'
(Joy Division) that is one of my all time favorites! Ian Curtis was only 21 years
old then he hung himself - that a waste of a
excellent songwriter

I loooove NewOrder! Actually, I love all the Factory bands (anyone remember Factory?). They had the coolest line up of New Wave/Futurist bands such as Joy Division, Crispy Ambulance, The Durutti Column, NewOrder, Dif Juz, A Certain Ratio, Section 25, et cetera, et cetera. NewOrder is their crown jewel, of course. Anything Bernard Sumner touches turns to gold!

To-day's favourite NewOrder song: "The Perfect Kiss." The live version is a 10 minute opus!

I love New Order!!! In fact, I have their CD in my car right now. What a great band they are to listen too. I have a lot of their songs rated on my Launch Radio Station

Other spin offs from New Order that you might want to look into listening to are

Monaco
The Other Two
Electronic

Some really good stuff there

Wow, I never knew that! How sad.
Doesn't anyone else love shellshock? I never hear anyone talk about that song. I have an extended version on an album and I totally love it.

Shellshock is great. Are you still exercising to it, Lisa?

Where do I start?

My favorite is Bizarre Love Triangle and its B-side Every Little Counts.

Other favorites:

Thieves Like Us
Sub-Culture
Regret
World in Motion
True Faith
Fine Time
Round & Round
The Perfect Kiss
and the first song I ever heard by New Order - Love Vigilantes

Brandon, you are right, Monaco and Electronic are both awesome! As far Joy Division vs. New Order, I'd take New Order every time.

I can't believe I haven't posted on this thread yet....I love New Order! I would pick them over Joy Division as well, not to say I don't like Joy Division. Their songs are fabulous and I have to turn them up when I hear them. "1963" is a song I didn't know by them until I bought "(the best of)". Does anyone know anything about this song? I find no record of it in any of my chart books. It is one of my favorites on that disc too.

I really like Electronic's first album which came out in 1991. Their second album was okay, but the only song on there that I really cared for was "Dark Angel" I didn't like Twisted Tendernes at all. As far as Monaco goes, their album that was released in 1997 was really good.

I would have to say my favorite New Order album would be Technique. I thought Get Ready was very good too. I never thought they would get back in the studio and work on another album.

Joy Division was too dark for me to listen to. I just couldn't get into them. "Love will Tear Us Apart" was the only song I could really listen to, so I would take New Order over Joy Division anytime too.

I love New Order! "Love Vigilantes" is an awesome song! If you ever want to listen to a beautiful instrumental, check out "Elegia" off their Low Life album.
