French House music is becoming rapidly more popular outside France. The past couple of years has been really interesting for French music with bands like Daft Punk and Air leading the way.

I have noticed that most of these French House songs contains samples, basslines or vocals of 70's and 80's Dance, Rap and pop songs.

If you are unfamiliar with the new French scene then check out these songs:

Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better
Modjo - Lady
Daft Punk - One More Time
Rinocerose - Lost Love
Etienne De Crecy - Scratched
Jean Jacques Smoothie - 2 People
Play Paul - Spaced Out
Superfunk - Lucky Star
Cassius - La Mouche
Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You
Demon Vs. Heartbreaker - You Are My High
Benjamin Diamond - Little Scare
St. Germain - Sure Thing

I love Modjo's song "Lady"!!! That is a great dance tune, very reminiscent of late-70s/early 80s dance/funk/R&B. I also like Daft Punk's material!!! :)

Oh lá lá...French musique, c'est bon... ;)

Yes, French pop has remarkably gained more attention during the last years, after the last "wave" of French music in the late third of the 80s (Desireless, Patricia Kaas, France Gall, Mylene Farmer etc.).

I´d like to add Les Rhythmes Digitales to the list...their duet with Nik Kershaw "Sometimes" is brilliant, and the video to "(Hey You) What´s That Sound?" is featuring none other than Boy George.

It's ok, Flix, we don't expect you to know everything!

I really dug Daft Punk's "One More Time"!!!

Wasn't there a French House song that used almost all of Madonna's "Holiday"? I forget the groups name. Triv??? :)

And isn't there a white label Daft Punk Remix of Into The Groove 2001 or 2002?

I think to the above list you should add

Bob Sinclair - Feel for you

and the wonderful album by "Dmitri from Paris" - A Night at the Playboy Mansion!

Get ready for Alizee-- I THINK she'll be making her North American debut. She's pretty big in Europe (I think) but her song "Moi...Lolita" sounds like a typical Pet Shop Boys song! :)

I think the French scene is the most interesting new dance music right now. I especially like Etienne De Crecy and Benjamin Diamond.

I can also recommend the Respect Is Burning series if you like some of these French artists.

Alizee is not out in America yet, but the Moi Lolita song has been played on one of my favorite stations.

My House In Montmartre is a great introduction to French house music. I always liked If I Ever Feel Better from Phoenix even though the remix on that cd isn't very good.

I didn't like the remix of Daft Punk on that album either... and I  Daft Punk...
Speaking of DP, what did you think of their live album? I loved it, its better than the studio albums :)
