Hey Y'all,

When you were a kid, what were your favorite nursery rhymes or fairy tales growing up?

My favorite nursery rhyme as a child was Hansel and Gretel. I loved the thought of a house made out of candy, even though the fact that there was cannibalism involved in the story that disturbed me just a bit!

That story always scared me. This old witch catches these two poor lost children and she tries to eat them:eek:

I loved the original Brothers Grimm fairy tales. I had my grandmother's copy from the 1930s. "The Seven Ravens" is my favorite. Bring on the violence and depressing stories, I say. No wonder I turned out like this. :wacky:

When I was a kid my father used to sing "Home On The Range" to me while rubbing the top of my head, so I could fall asleep. I'm not sure if it qualifies as a nursery rhyme, but it's the closest thing to it and it's a memory i'll always treasure! :)

As for fairy tales, it would have to be Grimms' Snow White, I liked this darker and morbid version so much more than the Disney version! :thumb:
