I voted for I Need Love. It is one of the few rap songs from the eighties that I actually know the lyrics to.

It really is a neat love song, isn't it? It is very unique in it sounds and very unusual for a rap song.

Definitely 'I'm That Type Of Guy'. At the time that I heard the song, I was living in Germany and dating a married woman. I used to ride to work with a friend and play that song while making up my own words: "I'm that type of guy who's doin' the dirty with your honey, while you're at work, bustin' yo ass to bring her home some money!" I was very evil back then!

 Sounds like me before I developed a conscience... which wasn't really all that long ago... The evil never goes away, it just lies dormant :mwaha::lol:;)

Kinda touchy on the 80's huh? Well I voted for ROCK THE BELLS. I think that some rappers today sample that beat.

Roemello is that how you look now or back in the day?
You got some big hair.

Roemello
11-20-03, 03:29 PM
Not really.... I like his 90s work.. in some cases, better than the 80s stuff. I just like to keep things as 80s as possible (since it's an 80s forum and all ;)). Especially where I specified 80s only :p

The pic was taken this year in March during the Boston Xchanger meeting. As for the hair... it's FAR from big  I guess I didn't do a good crop job. I had just gotten a fade the day before that was taken. It was a little spiked up though on top having come in from the rain :p

I like the old stuff better. My vote: Rock the bells. #2: I'm Bad.

I also have to admit that I always liked the Do Wop song. I think it's the last song on the 2nd side of Bigger And Deffer album.

I have to admitt I like "Jack the Ripper" that might be 90's but if you all ever get a hold of that one its really good. What song was in a movie back in the 80's

For me, Jingling Baby is is awesome! That's one of the best party songs and it defines the hip hop genre for me. That is RAP :thumb:

Following close behind is: I Need Love, I'm Bad, I Can't Live Without My Radio, and Rock the Bells. LL just rules, hands down!

I was @ work and Dana Dane was playing "Cinderfella" and this young guy about 21 was working with me and I asked him if he heard D.D. before he said "no" he like it. When I told him this wasn't an edited version he could not believe it. I told him this is the regular version of the song. Anyway I"ll put in a vote for him he said he like LL's

It was a tie for me...but since I was actually listening to "I'm Bad" when I saw this thread, I voted for it. hahaha

"Rock The Bells" & "I'm Bad" are definately classic tracks for the oldschool DJ. I actually knew all the lyrics to "I Need Love" when I was younger. I still have a recording of me rappin it. lol

I was just playing "Jack the Ripper" that song is .....WOW!! he just rip on "Cool Moe D" . I saw him on VH 1 and Rick Ruben said that LL was nervous about that song because it did'nt sound like his others and Rick had to convince LL that it would sell. LL said that lp "14 shots to the dome" failed in sells, which it did. LL said "that got the big head" and when they went to a club to perform it live he said "they treated us like a opening act, no one was paying attention". Then guys on the street would walk up to him and say he was soft and wasn't hard anymore and try and challenge him.
People would boo him going buy.
