George is in a league of his own. Everyone else is on the second tier.

Other - Paula Poundstone. She was just so sarcastic and so true. Bummer about all the trouble she's in.

I saw Robin Williams on HBO back in the '80s and he was truly hilarious, but for the last ten years or so I absolutely cannot stand the sight of him. Mr. touchy-feely man, isn't that just sooooo special. Man, I can feel my dinner coming back up :hammer:

I voted for Eddie Murphy! SNL, "Beverly Hills Cop" films, "Raw", "Delirious" are all gems and his new revived career success in "Shrek" and "Mulan" as voice talent, is awsome! :thumb:

Get ready to like him again Valley Dude. Not only has he returned to standup, but he's sick of his "touchy-feely" image also. He'll be in an upcoming movie playing a deranged serial killer that's being tracked by a detective played by Al Pacino!!!

He's also going to be in a movie playing a twisted person who works at a photomat booth that gets a little too involved with customer's pictures, and it lands him in some trouble.

Aside from that, he's in "Death To Smoochy" playing a former kid's show host who wants to murder his replacement. I think that's a pretty good change of gears for the man!

All the talk about Carrot Top....he's funny and all, but not in the same league as the Carlins, Kinisons, and Murphy's of this world.

I picked George Carlin, because he's the best. He always makes me laugh when I see his shows on HBO.
But I almost picked other, because I didn't see:
Robin Williams
Bily Crystal
Ellen DeGenneres (sp)
Rita Rudner
Tracey Ullman (she would count IMHO)

CinderGirl
3-31-02, 03:11 PM
Speaking of Tracey Ullman, my old best friend and I were big fans of her show, "The Tracey Ullman Show" in junior high. If I'd seen her up there, I would've had to have chosen her.

I voted for George Carlin with his longevity, he has remained at the top of his game by staying in tune with the changing times and not letting his act become stagnate.

I went with OTHER

I like Jeff Foxworthy

Sure some of these people listed are funny. But when you can only rely on cuss words to get you a laugh then I don't think you are THAT funny.

Chris Rock to me is the biggest joke around . He aint funny at all. How he could even be called a comedian is beyond me. He needs to hang out with Andrew Dice Clay. I've seen turds in a toilet funnier then those two:rolleyes:

George Carlin then Bill Hicks (RIP).

other... so many great ones, and so many great moments/skits. but, only one makes me horny: Wendy Liebman

i've burned my vote, but hopefully an *older* xchanger will give some mention to Steve Martin's "A wild and crazy guy" era. the world seemed so full of hope to me, back then.

Footloose

Funniest comedian to come from the UK Billy Connolly, followed closely by Eddie Izzard

Some Izzard quotes...

"You piss me off you Salmon... You're too expensive in restaurants."

"Hi i'm from Europe, where the history comes from." - (To American audience)

"We have two hundred languages in Europe. Two hundred languages! Count them! I know you won't!" (To American audience)

"You say 'erbs', and we say 'herbs', because there's a f***ing 'H' in it!" (To American audience)

"The National Rifle Association says that, "Guns don't kill people, people do." But I think, I think the gun helps. You know? I think it helps. I just think just standing there going, "Bang!" That's not going to kill too many people, is it? You'd have to be really dodgy on the heart to have that. "

"Vicar, I have done many bad things." "Well, so have I." "Well, what should I do?" "Well, drink 5 Bloody Mary's... and you won't remember. " :mwaha:

"We play bad guys in Hollywood movies. Take, for example, "The Empire Strikes Back" from the Star Wars trilogy. The Death Star is just full of British actors opening doors and going, "Oh... I... oh..." "What is it lieutenant Sebastian?" "It's just the Rebels, sir... they're here." "My God, man! Do they want tea?" "No, I think they're after something a bit more than that, sir. I don't know what it is, but they've brought a flag." "Damn, that's dash cunning of them."

You might have to be British to find it funny though. :thumb:

Good call on Billy Connolly, Footloose! :thumb:

Lately I've been listening to my main man, the pitbull of comedy, Bobby Slayton. Funny as hell....and completely NOT politically correct!

And on top of that Taz & I have 13th row seats to see George Carlin on November 5th!

Shakey
10-14-04, 12:54 AM
Of that list, I went with Sam Kinison. His screaming used to kill me. Lately though, I have been getting a real kick out of Stephen Lynch (http://www.stephenlynch.com/). The way that he combines music and comedy is hilarious!

Dennis Miller.

I do like Robin Williams, but what's up with him lately? I saw him at the Oscars and I think he's kinda getting senile. The current Robin Williams is just trying too hard to be funny. I prefer the earlier Robin Williams, back when he starred in Mrs Doubtfire.(Great soundtrack with Aerosmith's "Dude looks like a lady!" :thumb: )
