Hey Y'all,

Where were you when you watched the First MTV Video Music Awards hosted by Dan Akroyd and Bette Midler in 1984?

Well not trying to be funny or smart-ass, I was at home watching it on my tv. A sophmore in high school.

At home watching it. I remember that being one of the better VMA's. All the ones on now I would not watch.

Let's see... that was the year that Madonna writhed around on the stage floor like a vixen in heat, wearing her virginal white wedding gown while singing "Like a Virgin", right? I was at home, transfixed in front of the television. I remember thinking "This Madonna is gonna be such a huge star!" after seeing her performance!!! :)

Where was I? The only place a 7 year old could be at that hour...in the living room watching it with the 'rents :lol::p

I was 7 years old too. I don't think my family had MTV at that time, we may have because I remember my father kept getting cable, then discountining it, then getting it again and so on... I'm pretty sure when these awards were going on I was watching other prime time shows like A-Team or Dukes of Hazzard.

I was 16 when this aired and had only lived here, in Corpus Christi, for about a month. I remember thinking this has got to be the coolest thing, it's like the Grammy's, but much better and way cooler! I've watched every one since! :thumb:

I remember sitting at home watching it. Was so cool. :) I remember Bette Midler in the space suit as one of her costumes that night. ;)

I was 10 years old and was either at home, or with my grandparents.

I definately remember seeing Madonna's performance and thinking, "Oh my gawd! She's gonna make it huuuuuge,". :thumb:

I quit watching the MTV Awards 10 years ago, but up till then, I rarely missed 'em!

I quit watching the MTV Awards back in the early 90s. Last time I really watched was when Madonna dressed up like Marie Antoinette for her interpretation of "Vogue"! :)

No way Triv!?! You've missed some great Madonna moments and performances. :confused: Especially the year she was emulated by 10 or so drag queens imitating looks from her videos, it was really a special and overdue moment! :)

Yeah, I missed the drag queen salute to Madonna! I've seen bits and pieces of Madonna's various appearances at the VMA that I missed over the years on VH-1 specials!!! :lol:

That's good to know! Phew! :lol: But be glad you missed the MTV VMA performance of "Ray Of Light" Oye!! :eek:

In 1984 I was 21 years old, I sortof remember watching part of it, but I have never sat through a whole VMA show.
Or any other award shows...:)
