View Full Version : Favorite Dolly Parton song?
Hey Y'all,
Dolly is the reigning Queen of Country Music in my opinion, what was your favorite song from her during the 80's?
80sTrivia 3-28-02, 12:11 PM I voted for "I Will Always Love You", as this was Dolly's song way before it was Whitney's song! I remember Dolly singing this song once, with tears streaming down her face. Very memorable. I also enjoyed "Love Is Like A Butterfly". :)
Other. :) "Here You Come Again". Or even "Two Doors Down". She had a lot of greats!! :)
I've always loved her duet with Kenny.
Another couple of songs I like of hers are "Potential new boyfriend" and "Joline" (Joline, is that the name? The one about the woman who she is afraid is trying to steal her man)
Iluvthe80s 3-28-02, 05:51 PM I always liked the song "9 To 5".
Roemello 3-28-02, 10:20 PM I know, I know...."What in the blue hell you doin in the country forum, Roem?":lol: I actually don't mind 'Islands in the Stream' so I'm chiming in a vote :p
I voted for "Islands In the Stream" but I also like the song that first introduced me to Dolly Parton, "Jolene."
I enjoyed the movie and the song 9 to 5!
One quick question how can she walk without falling over:eek:
I voted for my all-time favorite "Hard Candy Christmas", it's a great song and how she uses it during the film "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas" was sad.
Milani, that's where her real talent lies, her ability to balance!!
80sTrivia 3-29-02, 09:48 PM I had forgotten about another one of Dolly's maudlin songs about growin' up dirt poor in Pigeon Forge, "Coat of Many Colors". That's one of those sad country songs to make you cry!!! :cry2:
ImSoooSure 4-03-02, 01:19 AM This is really bad that I can't think of the name of my fav. Dolly song. It is something about being on the road though.
nolanbuc 4-03-02, 03:51 AM My faverite Dolly song wasn't an 80's song, so it didn't make the poll: "Jolene"
Steve Savicki 4-08-02, 07:34 PM Islands In The Stream

Therrall 6-06-02, 07:42 PM I voted for "Islands In The Stream" I used to like "I Will Always Love You" 'till Whitney Ruined it, now I can't even stomache hearing that song, especially since the Radio overkilled that song by playing it 24/7 after that Horrible movie "The Bodyguard" came out. :barf:
I remember when I first heard "Islands in the Stream". I hated it. And it was a long time before I actually started to enjoy it and admitted that I liked it. :)
I voted for Islands in the stream.
DC Rebel 6-13-02, 10:25 PM I would have to vote for "Islands in the Stream." I have actually sang that song at a karaoke event with a female friend of mine. I had a few beers before getting on stage, so I was up to it.

9 to 5 for me. I am not a fan of Dolly, but this a good song.
Had to vote other. My favorite Dolly Parton song has always been "Tennessee Mountain Home", ever since I was a kid in the early 70's.
