I voted for Ship Of Fools, but it doesn't matter much since I like every single Erasure song from the 80's. Great poll, TCM!

I had to go with "A Little Respect" on this one, as I really enjoy that song. I think my favorite Erasure song is probably "Chorus". That was from the 90s, of course!!! :)

Well Flix, so far it looks like you and I are the only ones that picked this song. I love this song. Everytime I hear it I always think of the days of old friends.

This was a tough poll. I have all of their 80s stuff and I listen to them often. They were just great!

i voted for A Little Respect, it brings back so many great memories. It could have been You Surround Me too. I didn't put Oh L'amour in the poll as the single didn't make top 40 in the UK, until it was released by Dollar.

I have a big confession to make in that I thought Dollar did the original and Erasure did the cover version for many years.

Chains Of Love

It has a bright, bouncy beat and the synthesizer arrangement of "Face To Face" by Missing Persons (http://www.cdnow.com/from=sr-181894/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=1470116616/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/album.html/artistid=MISSING+PERSONS/itemid=1285780). I could confuse that song with that of Eurasure's.

I voted before I read the title. I voted for a 90s Erasure song as "Other".

Even though I had heard of Erasure in the late 80s, it was their song "Always" which got me into them. Still my favourite song by them...

Quite frankly, "A Little Respect" and "Chains of Love" go back and forth in which one I like first. But, I voted for "Chains of Love" b/c I hear it least between the two.

Indeed, 'Just can't get enough' etc is pure vince magic!

We thought they were doomed then they released 'See You' and then got darker, and the rest was history.

He also did some stuff under the name 'Assembly' using different vocalist, 'Never Never' which had vocals care of The Undertones front man Fergal Sharkey was the only UK hit for that project. I think it was between Yazoo and Eurasure.

I have followed Erasure since The Circus. I have loved practically everything they have done since.I have seen them 5 times. I really love Spiralling and It Doesnt Have To Be!

Side story: I too, have met Andy and Vince when they were doing a club promotional tour to support I Say x3. They did about 3-4 songs and then did an autographing signing. I got practically every CD booklet I had signed by them including the Innocents. One thing that made me upset was when I spoke to Andy directly and he wouldnt reply he just kept his head down signing autographs. After that I pretty much let go of my Erasure collection. I still loved the music but it just want the same after that. :( Then again I relaized later that it was rather loud in the club and that he simply may not have heard me though I was right across the table from him.(Its just one psychological drama after another..LOL!)
I wasnt crazy though I kept all my signed CDs. I also have a 2 CD live set called Welcome to The Glitter Dome. If you can find this ,it is excellent and I highly recommend it. Andy doing many Erasure classics, some Abba including some songs not on Abbaesque and some show tunes i.e. Stand By Your Man and Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Good Stuff. Might just have to go rebuy the singles over again! In any case I ve just recently started listening to them again, wow! the memories that flow.I am intrested in their new release coming in 2005 titled Nightbird.

Great band!

After Vince Clarke left Depeche Mode he formed Yazoo, The Assembly and then he formed Erasure with Andy Bell. Their songs are soothing and catchy. :)

Stop!
Saw them 10 years ago in Hard Rock KL, Malaysia.
It was a single mini concert.
Prior 2 d show,
HR packed the floor of about 150 odd group with tunes of the 80's
Got us real "WILD" 4 the show.
Vince in his usual stoned self, smiled a bit, engrossed with the keys.
Andy was an extra-odinary "gentleman" that day.
Slipped his right side singlet over his shoulder for the sexy look!!!
Me ask em, "How are u Mr. Bell?"
"Fine thank u" with a hungry look at me. Ha Ha Ha..............

Although I did not realize it at the time, A Little Respect has proven to be the most enduring Erasure single of the eighties! Back In The Day, I probably would have voted for one of thier upbeat disco numbers like Chain Of Fools.

WOW! What a question... This is my favorite band of all time, and I don't know how I can pick just one song as the best 80s Erasure song. Anything Vince touches turns to gold, and Andy has the most emotive and touching voice ever.

I stuck to the given list, and voted for Ship of Fools.

I like a lot of Erasure's more mellow stuff because it showcases their songwriting talents, and the expression in Andy's vocals (don't get me wrong, their dancefloor stuff rocks hardcore too). Ship of Fools is heart-wrenching and devastating.... a great 80s song!!!
