What was your favourite Human League song?

Mine was undoubtably "Electric Dreams", co-written by Georgio Moroda. Truly a great song. But they had so many great songs including "Don't you want me" and a personal favourite of mine "Louise". What was your favourite?

I've included "Tell me when" in this poll even though it's a 90s hit (And because it's too good to leave out!)

For me it was Mirror Man. I absolutely hate 'Don't you want me' - probably the most overplayed and overated song of the 80s.

Just out of interest, I thought that 'Together In Electric Dreams' was credited to Giorgio Moroder & Phillip Oakey rather than the Human League?

Nitpicky mode=off ;)

I figured someone might come out with that point, but the song is included on their greatest hits album, so I included it. :D

I actually don't remember this many hits from the Human League here in the US, but I did see a greatest hits with several songs I've never heard of. Out of the 4 songs I actually do know, I had to vote for "Don't You Want Me", that song is the best, but "Fascination" was a close second! :thumb:

I voted for (natch) "Human"! Great song! :)

I had to go with Lebanon. That opening bass line still kills me. :D

One of the greatest club songs of the 80s.

This can't be true."

I went with 'Don't you want me'...wasn't overplayed where I was, so it's all good to me

"Don't You Want Me" for me, could never be overplayed. It was a classic 80's song.

"Mirror Man", is that a reflection of yourself Chopper? (I know it's a poor joke  )

I voted for "The Lebanon" the emotion in that song was so powerful.

Not far from the truth - a good one TCM!! ;)

Still think that it's well overplayed in the UK as it seemed to appear on every 80's cd, every 80's radio hour and every 80's disco. It's just a pure slab of UK disco cheese, which is fine if that that's what you like but I happen to think that they've done much better songs - 'The Lebanon' and 'Human' as was mentioned by 80sTrivia.

And then recently what happens? Just as I'm sick to death of 'Don't You Want Me' - we get a car advert in the UK with 'Don't You Want Me' as the theme song....the woman drives off with the guys car at a petrol station, and he's chasing after it saying 'Don't You Want me...wooah wooah wooah woaah'

DONT YOU WANT ME BABY?
The ultimate song for the hurt soul in the earlie eighties.
If you were in your teens and -most probably-you were suffering
from the sweetest disease of all (I hope you remember what i mean...) the is no way you forgot that song.

Dedicated to my favorite classmate.

I´m wondering that no one came up with "Being Boiled" so far...it´s still my favourite song, especially the version on 'Travelogue' (I have to admit that I´m a bit fed up with "Don´t You Want Me", too ;) ).

Other close runners are "Empire State Human" and "Morale...You´ve Lost That Loving Feeling", both from the 'Reproduction' album.

I voted for "Don't You Want Me". A Classic 80's song, and the only one I know by Human League.

I voted for Phil and Georgio. Great song and what a cute movie that was!! But if I'd choosen a "real" Human League song it would have been Fascination.

I voted for Love Action. Gotta love Phil Oakey's "rap" in the middle and the wonderful plinky plonkiness of that stabbing synth line that comes in just after the chorus. The opening is cool too. That one synth note on the Jupiter 4 (ok NR, that's enough. The "Jupiter4" - You knob! Nobody cares what synth it was...). Simplicity rears it's head again!

Dare was a great album (sketcher, take note!).

The Lebanon and Fascination come second for me followed by Human.

I also would vote for "all i ever wanted" which is off their new album. I can't get enough of that.

I agree. The new album is really good. I really like All I Every Wanted too. I think it is one of the most underrated cd's from this year.

I had to go with 'Together in Electric Dreams' which technically was a solo hit for Phil Oakey, but still apart of the Human League discography :thumb:

Overall, my favourite of theirs is still 'One Man in My Heart'. That was such a beautiful song :thumb:

People have learned to fear hearing the bass line for "Don't You Want Me" around me, because upon the first note, I'm already rocking my hips and thrashing about. Poor friends. :)

I voted "other", since I'm more into the early Human League stuff (Travelogue, Reproduction). I agree with the person who thought "Don't You Want Me" was a very overrated song, I like many other songs from "Dare" but I always skip that one..."Electric Dreams" is NOT a Human League song. It was a solo project Oakey did with Giorgi Moroder, whose stereotypical style sometimes was irritating. That song belongs to the 80's stuff I never listen to today.

"Mirror Man" was a cool attempt at synth soul. And "Love Action" was my favorite song for a while.

'Being Boiled' followed by 'Human'. Incredible songs, both of them.

4-11-06, 05:33 AM
I don't know Human League well enough to know all these songs, and I'm sure they are all great because they seem to be a great band. I voted for "Fascination" knowing that "Don't you want me" was a better song, but I am so sick and tired of hearing it that I voted for "Fascination".

It's like Abba with "Dancing Queen"; it's a great song, but it's the only bloody song we hear from them over and over again, like if they hadn't done any other hits.

The Human League! (Oh I love this board... :) )

I voted for "Human". But I also really love "Life On Your Own". Then it would be "Fascination", "Seconds", "Love Action", etc etc etc...

(I love "Electric Dreams" too... :) )

(I really want to get into their earlier work as well. I was reading a review of their "Reproduction" album just a couple of days ago actually... )

I think Phil Oakey was just so handsome at that time too... (Not that he is not handsome now ;) - I liked his hair, that whole 80s look... *sigh* ;) )
