View Full Version : Better Off Dead!
dirtydeeds 5-26-00, 11:06 AM My all time favorite movie and definitely one of the best movies of the 80's. It had that B-movie feel, starred John Cusack and was totally awesome! Who can forget the scene with the dancing hamburger while Van Halen's "Everybody Wants Some" is playing?
------------------
Definitely one of my all time favorite movies Dirty Deeds - I fell hard for Cusack and his underdog character Blain myers http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif I still go around saying "I want my $2.00s" lol My son loves this movie too so we have another generation of 80s movie lovers ready in the wings http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif
------------------
Don't forget the other classic line from that movie...."I'm real sorry your mom blew up!"
Peace,
Pagan

Savedge1 3-02-02, 10:14 AM OMG!!! I love John Cusak. This was the first movie I ever saw him in. Talk about falling hard. Gotta love that sweet Camaro too!
COOL BREEZE 3-02-02, 10:45 PM Wow, I was pissed not to find my comments on this movie posted! Don't know what happened?
Anyway, I probably have watched this movie way to many times to be healthy but I can't help it!
The special effects, camera angels and sounds to exaggerate everthing is awesome!Every actor/actress is perfect for their part!It had everything babes, bad guys, action, romance, dad trying to be cool"Come on Lane mello off",mom who was a horrible cook"you don't like all the cholesteral in bacon so I boiled it",weird little brother"your book on how to pick up trashy women is here" ,weirder friend"This is pure snow! Do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is?"Mr. Vargas from Fast Times,Porky from "Porky's" (not much out of character) as Lane's boss selling Pig Burgers ,and my favorite the japanese guys one who only spoke like Howard Cosell who were always challenging Lane to a drag race!Awesome!
Even the soundtrack was awesome! Although it didn't have some great songs featured in the movie like Van Halens "Everybody Wants Some".Howard Jones"Get to Know You Better" and Muddy Waters"Mannish Boy" it did have some cool instrumentals, Terri Nunn from Berlin,The fixx's guitarist Jamie West Oram and not one but two songs from actress/singer cutie pie E.G. Daily who "Performed "them in the movie. There's also a song called "Arrested by You" by Rupert Hines that has become one of my all time favorites(by the way that was John playing the sax part on this song in the restuarant!)How could you not love this movie?!!!
COOL BREEZE
said in a Howard Cosell voice:
"Truly an awesome spectacle! Never have I seen two such seething opponents embroiled in an obstinate attempt to prove superiority of the road..Unequaled in our lifetime...The crowd swells with anticipation... as the light..TURNS GREEN!"
"Lane Meyer...The kid from Green Bay...I don't know...Once a great champion..now... a study in moppishness..No longer the victory hungry stallion we raced so many times before..But a pathetic, washed up,aged ex champ!"
*wonders down to the video store* I can't believe I have never seen this movie. I can't seem to catch it from the beginning when it comes on cable. Please don't beat me up too badly. LOL
