Hey Y'all,

We've done the best female artists of the 80's, now it's the guys' time. Who do you think was the best male country artist of the 80's?

I had to go with other on this poll, Trix. My vote would have to go to Ronnie Milsap. Stacy's recent poll for favorite Ronnie Milsap song made me remember how many great songs he had back in the 80s! :)

McFly!! (LOL!! I just learned how to use that name from folks in chat!!) That was my RM poll. :( That hurts, that you forget me so quickly. :p J/K

I voted for George Strait on this one, although I have to agree with Michael that Ronnie Milsap was one of the GREATEST!! So was Eddie Rabbit, but I didn't think of all these guys before I voted. lol

He was the only male country star who caught my attention at all really.

I had to vote for Randy Travis, he had some great songs in the 80's! :thumb: A unique, classic country style and sound. His song, "I Told You So" and "Old 8X10", two fantastic songs!! :thumb:

Hi Milani...glad that you took a few minutes to visit the xchange...No..I don't think that Garth made his appearance until approx. 1991 or 1992. He's good though isn't he?

I'm still trying to decide between Kenny Rogers, Charlie Daniels, and Hank Williams Jr. I wasn't really into that much country music until the late 80's but looking back..I have to narrow it down to these three artists. Good poll.

I voted for George Strait too. The only male country singer I like better is Garth Brooks, but the songs I like are from the nineties.

It was a hard Poll to vote on because I think both George Straight and kenny Rogers were very popular in the 80's, but I voted for Kenny because he was popular with both the casual music listener as well as hard core country fans.

Actually Garth was part of the famous class of '89. His first single "Much too you (to feel this damn old)" went to #11 in 1989 and his first #1, "If tomorrow never comes" is also from 1989. :)

I wasn't a huge country fan in the 80s (In fact My idea of country was song about your woman, your dog, and your woman leaving you or getting drunk) BUT, growing up in a family of Construction workers, Truck Drivers, and yes, even farmers...I picked up SOME country here and there. One in particular I remember from the 80s was Hank Williams Jr. I liked him. He was the "rocker" of country in my opinion. I liked his songs...they were about what I did best....PARTY!!!!!
