View Full Version : 80s shows that never concluded

There have been many TV shows where the characters where in search of something or had some mission to accomplish, but yet the shows were cancelled before they ever concluded.

This is a pet hate of mine and I believe that there should be some rule that all TV shows must have a final episode that concludes with the characters achieving their objective.

What are some 80s shows that never quite concluded?

Quantum Leap. Sam Beckett never did leap home. Or did he? I'm pretty sure he didn't.

The A Team never did prove their innocence either. Not that they were really trying, but still........

And all though the crew of the Battle Star Galactica did find Earth, they never actually got to land there and start a new life.

What are some other such shows?

On Quantum Leap, it said Sam Beckett never returned home.

On A-Team, there was a trial, but the A-Team were found guilty of killing Col. Morrison in Vietnam. This was mainly due to the fact that the one guy that could clear the A-Team was himself killed, along with the Team pleading guilty to save Murdock. If they didn't plead guilty, then the court would have nailed their chopper pilot Murdock for the crime. After a pseudo-death at the hands of a military firing squad, a shady figure named Hunt Stockwell enlisted the services of the A-Team. He promised them a full pardon if they did a certain number of covert missions for him. Their pardon was coming, but the show was cancelled before we saw it.

I don't recall "Charlie's Angels" having and ending episode. The last episode deals with Kelly being shot and the others, Kris and Julie, trying to find the culprit, but no ending. :(

The last episode of Quantum Leap is one of my all time favorite"last shows"(even though that episode was never ment to be the last one)it ended how it should of,I hate when everything has to have a happy ending,My ex-girlfriend used to cry like a baby whenever she'd watch it,a very emotional TV moment.

Well, there was the infamous last episode of Dynasty, with Alexis and a bunch of other characters falling over a stairwell balcony. The network unceremoniously axed the show, leaving viewers in the lurch as to what happened. I think they finally did a follow-up about five years later. By then, of course, nobody cared anymore!

Good question Recker,

Wait, correct me if I'm wrong, but when the castaways made it back to civilization they went back to the island willingly and opened up a resort there, kinda like 'Fantasy Island'? So, if they did in fact get stranded on the same island again, at least there were other people with telephone service, ya think??!!

Hmmmm. Don't remember that one. All I remember is seeing a reunion episode where they went out on a cruise for old times sake and ended up stranded back on the same island. I understood it was to be the start of a new series, but don't quote me on that. Maybe someone else can clarify.

I remember something along these lines, too, Trix. Return to Gilligan's Island, I believe. And didn't the Harlem Globetrotters get stuck on the island, too?

There was also a Gilligan's Island cartoon, wasn't there? I was trying to remember if The Globetrotters also appeared on the cartoon as well as the live action show! :)

What I remember is that the castways were trying to survive a large typhoon, so they did something weird to their hutts to survive. The typhoon then swept their floatable hutts out to sea, and there they were rescued. I think this was in the early '80s, because Gilligan is blown away by The Empire Strikes Back, the Proffesor is impressed by skateboards, and Skipper is mad he missed the mini skirt craze. Then after some adventures on the mainland they decide to a have a celebratory cruise, but Gilligan screws up again and they wind up in yet another storm----and back to the same damn island.

Then there was another movie, this time they find some beat up old plane, and decide to fly it civilization, Gilligan falls out of the plane, but he has a parachute. The castaways decide they can't just leave Gilligan, so they land the plane on whatever island Gilligan fell on, it turns out their plane was about to fall apart again. Anyway yet again somehow they are rescued, I think the island Gilligan fell on was a populated place. I don't remember if this second one was where they built the hotel back on their own island or what. But this is what I seem to remember.

Through all this, it was never explained how they went to the bathroom on that island. Or why Gilligan, Skipper and the Proffessor never bothered to change their clothes. :)

Or why the Howells brought so much stuff for what was supposed to be just a three hour tour!
