If anybody sees any Popups or Popunders (advertisements) from this point on, please let me know. That was an accident and I'm trying to remove them one by one. It would be helpful if you could tell me what the popup was in reference to.

Hey Sal, I just posted in "hints and tips' about the pop-up ad problem i was having. :) Unfrotunally, I can't remember what they were for. :rolleyes: When Iget one again I will post what it was here. :)

Cheap tickets is one. Jackson Hewitt is another. :)

I used to get them saying that I'd won a holiday, but today I got one about flights I think when I logged on. Funny thing is it seems to always happen at work and rarely at home.

Another one just came up from Britannia

Just had a pop-up going into DC...I usually don't...It was something about Award confirmation & travelling

I haven't seen any pop ups while posting here since yesterday. About three ads popped up right after I was filling out the survey, but I haven't seen any others!

The only one I ever got here was one on the DC intro page....actually, I just clicked on it and one popped up again (http://www.80sxchange.com/chatroom.htm)

I forgot to see exactly what it was though...I have a reflex to kill those pop ups the second they hit :p

Actually, I forgot to mention. There ARE popups on the outside pages of this website. But, I don't want any here in the forums. I'm feeling that passers-by are out there, and our dedicated members are in here. So, I don't want 'us' having to deal with popups. When the going gets really rough, maybe that will happen. But, not right now.

If you see any more in here, let me know. I'm weeding them out as I can...

I typically get one for "Cheap Tickets", but I tend to close them so fast I don't know what they said. :) (That's when I first open the 80sXchange site. Not when I'm in the forums/message board.)

I have been getting them for days!! I just got a "Register your Business" from Register.com as soon as I got past the main page. I don't know the names of the other ones I've been getting, but when I get them, I will come back and edit them into this post. :)

I dont know if I should report this but I saw one for ameriquest I think. It was when I was going to the chat room.

The ones on outside pages (like the chatroom sign in page) are supposed to be there. Only report those you see on the forums themselves :cool:

I just got a pop-up when I went into the game forum. It was from Trips.com. At least, that's what I saw just before I clicked out. :lol: I had forgotten about this until right as I clicked....

Navigating to this thread I got a blank pop-under with "Discover Clear" in the title bar.

Sometimes a pop-up opens when I´m visiting the Album Review Homepage. I´m killing them that fast that I can´t read the content. :D

I think I got it. There was one for trip.com that somehow didn't get deleted. There shouldn't be any more...

It just happened again while I was replying to this (http://www.80sxchange.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10879) post...an ad from X10.

The pop-up had even asked me for allowing Active-X and/or Java scripts, since I had disabled the autorun of these elements.

Addendum: there was also a pop-under from VeriSign Inc., haven´t noticed it first.

Another pop-under, while I had checked the new messages of the day...I think that the pop-ups/pop-unders are activated by the banner advertisements on the respective pages.

This time, it was from classmates.com . Here´s the result of my little tracerouting:

All gone. Occasionally, they slip new ones in and that's why this is happening. If you see any more, just let me know. I will inactivate them as soon as I can...

Okay, then do your best...while I was reading this thread, another VeriSign pop-under has opened. :D

BTW...there are some tools available which are eliminating pop-ups like WebWasher (http://www.webwasher.com/en/products/wwash/download.htm) , this one is free for private use.

I had one from Verisign and one from Classmates.com today.

I've had three ads (Verisign, Classmates, amazing x-cam). I only remember where one of the ads appeared (don't remember which ad, though; I think it was Classmates.com). The Classmates ad appeared as I was going into the Fun and Games forum.

I was on the xchange yesterday (may 4th) from work. I didn't log in as I was just browsing. I had pop-ups from Verisign, Classmates & Amazing x-cam every time I opened a forum....Idunno if this was because I was not logged in or I was on a different computer...I haven't seen a pop-up on the xchange for over 2 weeks when I'm at home....Not even when I'm not logged in.
