View Full Version : Ronnie Milsap ValJ 3-19-02, 08:16 PM OK, it's the moment y'all (y'all being DJ and TJ  ) have been waiting for, the Ronnie Milsap Poll!! YAY!!! :) lol What's your fave song? ValJ 3-19-02, 08:28 PM I picked "I Wouldn't Have missed It For The World", even though I ADORE every song on that list. I figured I'd throw up some other 80s choices for 'Other', in case these didn't get it goin' for you! :) Am I Losing You She Keeps The Home Fires Burning Happy, Happy Birthday Baby Button Off My Shirt Don't You Ever Get Tired (Of Hurtin' Me) Pure Love OK, I'm all thunked out. :D Can you believe I don't have even one RM CD or cassette? :( I am sooooo deprived. 80sTrivia 3-19-02, 08:42 PM My vote went to "Smoky Mountain Rain", as my parents used to always play this song in the car when we went on family vacations to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg!!! ;) Sarg 3-19-02, 10:06 PM Ronnie Milsap did so many great songs it would be very hard to choose but I always liked and sang to "Smokey Mountain Rain" a keeps on callin'... Keeps on callin'... my name! rrredheaddd 3-19-02, 10:30 PM I don't listen to too much country now, but I grew up listening to it. My dad played Ronnie Milsap all the time. I voted for "I Wouldn't Have Missed It For The World".:) nolanbuc 3-20-02, 01:40 AM Aaaaahh, Ronnie Milsap! The poet of country music! This guy was the shiznit back in the day! I had to pick, "It was almost Like a Song", because that has to be the most melancholy (but beautiful) song ever written!:( My second pick would be "Pure Love", because it is the opposite (very happy)! :D Thanks, Val! Great poll!! Trixter 3-20-02, 03:57 PM I've enjoyed Ronnie Milsap's music over the years, especially his peak in the early 80's. I voted for "There's No Gettin' Over Me". This song says it all, the ultimate, 'you're gonna regret it in the end' song! :thumb: A classic! ValJ 3-20-02, 10:26 PM I know what you mean, Buc...I almost didn't make this poll, because It Was Almost Like A Song used to be my favorite...but since having a child and being married, I like the happier-side-of- life type songs! :) djdaffy1227 3-21-02, 05:51 PM I went with "Smokey mountain rain" after playing it last night but I like all of his songs including "Stranger in my house" that didn't make the list :) fiya kraka 3-21-02, 06:48 PM My parents were country fans, so I heard a lot of it growing up. I really like Ronnie. He has some great tunes. My vote went to "I wouldn't have missed it for the world":D Greenway88 4-13-02, 07:31 AM I'm with Trixter on this one, No Gettin' Over Me Iluvthe80s 4-13-02, 10:28 AM Smoky Mountain Rain ImSoooSure 4-16-02, 12:45 AM I'm having day dreams about night things in the middle of the afternoon... I'm gonna be singing this song all night. I love this one. It was a tuff pick bet. this and Almost Like A Song. angeleyes25 2-12-04, 01:17 AM Other,"Stranger In My House" Jasper 2-12-04, 01:30 AM I picked NO GETTING OVER ME. But, the irony of Stranger in my house always made me laugh. THERES A STRANGER IN MY HOUSE SOMEBODY HERE, THAT I CANT SEE! Brand1974 2-12-04, 04:31 AM I chose I Wouldn't Have Missed It For The World but also like a lot of the others as well. Darrianne 2-12-04, 06:24 PM I always thought Ronnie had one of the best, smoothest voices I had ever heard. I saw him in concert in the 80's and he was wonderful.....a great, energetic show...and he even told some funny jokes! JS 2-18-04, 12:35 AM I'm leaning towards Smokey Mountain Rain. ValJ 2-18-04, 11:38 AM But, the irony of Stranger in my house always made me laugh. THERES A STRANGER IN MY HOUSE SOMEBODY HERE, THAT I CANT SEE! LMFAO!!!!  Can you believe that never entered my head?! It never dawned on me.... I've got Almost Like A Song on the brain now.... "Once in every life - someone comes along - and you came to me - it was almost like a song...." OrdnaryAvrageGuy 2-24-04, 12:02 AM "Stranger In My House" gets my vote, although I like most of what Ronnie records. If it wasn't a duet, however, I would have voted for "Old Folks" which he did with ex-NFL lineman Mike Reid (who I think wrote the song). I'd really like to find a karaoke version of it, but I don't think one is available. --Steve mickeyintexas 2-25-04, 12:24 AM Other,"Stranger In My House" loved "stranger in my house". Also "Pure Love". milsap was the man! whistledog 10-18-04, 10:20 PM "In the stiiiiiil of the niiiiiight, oh i held you, held you tiiight" How do you not love Lost in the 50's Tonight. Such a classic tune :thumb: LOSTNTHE80S 10-23-04, 07:27 AM Without a doubt...LOST IN THE FIFTIES TONIGHT. |
