This voting session we are picking the best stand-up comedian of the 80's. We are basing this on their stand-up acts or comedy concerts. Two week voting period and this voting session will end on 3/23/02.

I voted for Eddie Murphy. I saw "Delirious" and "Raw" both and those were hilarious! I don't think I ever laughed so much at a comedian as I did with Eddie in those comedy concerts.

I voted for Bill Cosby even though this poll was a hard one to vote on. I like Robin Williams just as much but finally chose Cosby because he has many funny routines that he does without cussing. Anybody can make you laugh with some cuss words thrown in, but if they can make you laugh without them, their truly a great comedian in my book.

Gotta go with the Cos. He was hilarious and I had a heap of his tapes. I especially liked "To Russell my brother whom I slept with" That was soo funny!

I love Eddie Murphy as a stand up comedian too, but at least Bill can make you laugh without getting crude and trying to add shock value.

I'm not to familar with any of there stand up comedy only from what I've seen on t.v. and movies.I narrowed it down to Bill Cosby and Eddie Murphy but I went with Bill Cosby like Sarg pointed out he can be funny without all the crude jokes and swearing. It takes alot more effort to be funny without all the cussing.I was never a fan of Robin Williams comdeic style as far as movies go maybe his stand up is better and I don't like George Carlin.

Tough call, but Eddie Murphy takes it for me. I start laughing just at the mention of "Delirious" or "Raw". Remember that ice cream taunt? LMAO!! I got some ice cream , I got some ice cream, and you don't get none, you don't get none, cause you are on the welfare... (forgive me if that isn't quite right....it's hard to type with any accuracy when you're falling out of your chair laughing.) :D

Speaking of local talent, I used to love George Smilovic. Especially his "I'm Tough" jokes. I once saw him perform live in New Zealand. I remember him doing a tour with Michael Windslow at one stage. Friends of mine went to see them and reckoned that Smilovic was so much more funnier than Windslow, in fact Windslow almost put them to sleep when he wasn't doing his funny sound effects and voices.

Same here, I could never see the appeal of Williams as a stand up comedian. I find him rather bizarre. (all though it's amazing how he keeps churning out unscripted jokes at the drop of the hat) But still, he is great in movies.

There is no doubt that Delirious and Raw were classics. I just loved his impressions. He did a great Mr T

Foxxy!! I loved Raw! I don't know when I ever laughed so hard....How about his big green-pepper welfare burger, and the kids outside teasing him, "We got Mac-Don-oh-ohlds!!" LMAO!! I still sing that...LOL!

I voted for Eddie, but I like Carlin and the others, too.

I had to go with Robin Williams. He is hysterical. Eddie is funny, but I like him better as an actor than as a stand up comedian.

I think I voted on this one in time. It's still the 23rd here.:p Not that my vote matters at this point. I voted for Bill Cosby. I love him. It looks like Eddie takes it though.
