What is everyone's favorite Depeche Mode song?

There are so many good ones, but I am voting for Shake the Disease.

Wow, a hard decision. I chose Enjoy the Silence for this one. I love Depeche Mode, and I like almost all the songs that were listed.

I didn't really care for their last album "Exciter" though.

Wow! This was tough! Depech Mode is definitely in my top 10 favorites! Out of the list you provided I had to go with "Strangelove". That is my favorite Depeche Mode song!!! :thumb: I would have liked to see "Personal Jesus" make the list, I must say it almost ties "Strangelove"!! :)

Tough decision, this. I love so many of Depeche Mode's songs, but I finally decided upon "Enjoy the Silence", which is a song that I really enjoy greatly! :cool:

Wow! Way tough decision. I really couldn't choose since I am still such a great fan. They are and always will be my all time fav. Since it was a poll though, I went with Strange Love. I just love the beat. But I love all their songs.

Can I just say everything? :lol: Ok, I threw a vote in for 'Enjoy the Silence', but everything there are great tunes. DM is the catalyst that brought me into synthpop...now I'm hooked :vibrator::D

I picked other.The only song I like by them is "Personal Jesus".

"People are people" the first song I ever heard by them and still my favorite although all the choices are good.

I truly love all depeche mode songs. I voted in the "Other" category because my fave is "Never let me down".

Everything Counts was the song that got me hooked on Depeche Mode. I learned to dance to People are People and I love Shake the Disease. I had to vote for other because my favorite Depeche song is A Question of Lust. My favorite version of this song is off the 101 album.

I also have some great remixes of there stuff. I am hooked, the last two tours they were in L.A. I went to each night of their concerts.

Everything Counts was the first song that hooked me as well...still one of my favorite for that reason. :D

I just found out today that the Exciter show is being broadcast on Paypreview on Friday & Saturday (March 7&8th). My friend is trying to figure out if you can tape from paypreview. I hope so!! I loved their live version of Personal Jesus.

If anyone is interested the "One night in Paris" concert is being pay per viewed on cable and satalite systems.

In the month of March, there will be a Pay-Per-View event with Depeche Mode. Titled "One Night In Paris - The Exciter Tour 2001", the broadcast will be of a full Exciter Tour concert at The Palais Omnisports de Paris Bercy. Shot by Anton Corbijn, the concert film was shot on anamorphic 16:9 Digital Betacam using 13 cameras

I voted "other". My favorite DM song is One Caress, but from the list I'd have to say Enjoy the Silence.

I'm sure everyone has one of these stories:

I remember being a young kid, 13 maybe, and discovering the local college station, 97X. 'Blasphemous Rumors' was playing, followed by 'Sex Machine' by the Flying Lizards.

I was like, what the heck is this? So far removed from the hard rock/pop music to which I'd been listening.

Needless to say, my radio stayed tuned to 97X for the next 10 years.

I went out and bought Some Great Reward the next day and haven't looked back since.

I'm a great fan of DM... it's hard to decide which is the "best" song when you love every one. My favorite, "Never let me down again", is not in the list, so I've voted "other". If there weren't the "other" option, I'd have chosen "Everything counts". My own list surely would have included "A question of time", "Personal Jesus" or "Love in itself" better than "People are people" or "Just can't get enough"...

My favourite ever Depeche Mode song is 'World in My Eyes' from 'Violator'. It's so damn sensual....just an incredible song!

Runner up was 'Clean' also from the same album.

Also loved 'In Your Room' from 'Songs of Faith and Devotion'

Don't mind the poppy stuff either, really enjoyed the single 'New Life'.

I voted for Just Can't Get Enough. I live really close to Basildon where Depeche hail from. Actually remember them being on the local news when they started out, so like the early songs the best. Did love Blasphemous rumours though. :rollin: :rollin:

Needless to say, I love any song by Depeche Mode. My favorite song this week is Love Thieves from the Ultra album. I did however vote for Strangelove. All in all one of the best Depeche songs ever.

Had to vote for "other"...actually, there are only 14 songs of DM I don´t like - "Are People People" (from the "Master & Servant Remix 12") and the whole "Exciter"-album (sorry, fans... :D).

Can´t believe it...when my stepbro played "Construction Time Again" and asked me for my opinion then, I had told him that I thought it was pretty boring... :lol:
One year later, "People Are People" got me hooked up to DM completely. ;)

They have only had one good song- the one Vince Clark wrote, "Just can't get Enough".

It just had that funky, weird, quirky thing going on that I really enjoyed..........just a fun song, with some lyrics that made me think.

Well, this one is easy for me. "Somebody" is my favorite DM song. Yeah it's sappy and all but it brings back a lot of memories. *Senior Prom Night 1986, I was the only one in coat-tails and a top hat*

Yeah, I had to go with "World In My Eyes," too. It is just so very...what? I don't know, but it's just perfect.

"People are People" for me but "Somebody" came a close second. Basically everything they ever did was great with me. I just love the sound.

I think I got old at some point though. After the release of "Personal Jesus" I just lost interest in them. Either they lost the plot or I did. Probably the later.:1offwall:

I can't beleive how difficult it is to choose one song. I guess I underestimated Depeche Mode (I am a fan though). I'd have to say I have a tie for #2; Master and Servant, Everything Counts, World In My Eyes, Enjoy the Silence, and A Question of Time.

#3 would be Just Can't Get Enough. I love it but I've heard it so many times when the 80s first came back.

But my #1 has to be Never Let Me Down Again because that's the song I play really loud in my car. I love the piano in it. I was driving from Quebec City to Montreal one night and I was in the middle of nowhere. I had it blasting. It had just got dark and the song fit it so perfectly.

The song that I wanted to vote for was not there so I voted for other. My favorite Depeche Mode song is Stripped that was on their Black Celebration cd. I remember the first time I listened to that song and decided that Depeche Mode was the coolest band I had ever listened to. That song started my love for Depeche Mode, so that is why it is my favorite song.

The extended version of "Shake The Disease" is excellent. It is a top pick. Still, I voted in the "Other" category since I did not see one song from Black Celebration, which is DeMode's best album in their 20+ year history; ranging from the title track, "Fly On The Windscreen," "A Question Of Time," "A Question Of Lust," "World Full Of Nothing," all the way to the last track, "But Not Tonight." It clearly demonstrates the power that this band has artistically...

But Not Tonight is my favorite.

I love Depeche and all the songs listed were brilliant. My favorite song though is Fly on the Windscreen. A very close second would be Halo.

A must for all Depeche Mode fans is the DVD 'Depeche Mode The Videos 86>98' It has 20 videos on it.

I'm going with "Shake the Disease." LOVE the song as well as the video. Others that come right behind it - "Photographic," "It's Called a Heart," "Told You So" and "Strangelove."

I like them all and all the DM songs, but i have to say that my favourite is "Enjoy the silence". I really like DM because their music is very dark and depressive, it makes you questioning about a lot of things.

It's a tie between ''Strange love'' & ''People are People'', 2 songs that really means to me!!

I am a huge DM fan they are my second favorite 80's band, the Cure being my first :) . I love my Violator cd so much I've had to buy several since it first came out. My favorite on that is Enjoy the Silence. Its my all time fave. But I love 101. That cd is the bomb! I love Never Let Me Down (101 version), and Behind The Wheel (101 version).

Policy of Truth & It's no good are their best songs 80s enfing-90s... I enjoy thoses songs a lot!!!

Wow, so hard to choose..... I love Enjoy The Silence since it was their first song i heard, but I also love Everything Counts and Shake The Disease because they were both awesome songs. I went with the latter ("Shake the Disease").

My favorite is without a doubt "Little 15". It's such a simple song, but I never get tired of it.

Their new single 'Precious' is up to the high standards of the older Depeche Mode stuff.

"But Not Tonight" and "Sea Of Sin" are by two favorites (one a single the other a B-side) but I have to say that there are a lot of their mediocre songs that are better than some other band's best.

Shake The Disease still haunts me to this day. Although I probably prefer it for sentimental reasons. Also, since this is an eighties web-site, i really don't think any of thier later output (It's No Good) should be eligible! ;)

I went for "Other" - my favourite DM song is "Dressed In Black" but I love love love (LOOOOOVE) Depeche Mode and I have lots of favourite songs of theirs. There are just so many - they are my favourite band ever...

I had to go with "other" also. My favorite has always been Boys Say Go! from the album Speak & Spell ('81) I love many, many DM songs, though.

Enjoy the Silence came out during one of the major turning points of my teenage years, so that's my vote. It's haunting in a way.
