View Full Version : Krispy Kreme vs Dunkin' Donuts sarge 2-26-02, 10:22 PM Which one do ya like better? Think Krispy Kreme will eventually kill off Dunkin Donuts? Jughead Jones 2-26-02, 10:50 PM But, of course, I'm Canadian. I haven't tried Krispy Kremes yet, but Dunkin' Donuts aren't too bad.:D Dancingdoll1986 2-26-02, 10:59 PM (*in best "Animal" voice from the Muppets*) KRISPY KREME!!!!KRISPY KREME!!!!!!KRISPY KREME!!!!!!!! Now I have to go get one....thanks a lot!!! Shakey 2-26-02, 11:18 PM In his best Homer Simpson impression - Dunkin Donuts! Iluvthe80s 2-26-02, 11:40 PM I like them both, but I prefer Krispy Kreme. Red 2-26-02, 11:42 PM Since we have neither around here, my vot goes to Shipley Donuts! jen* 2-26-02, 11:57 PM We have no Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts here. But *Red* we have Shipleys here too. lol Sal Collaziano 2-27-02, 01:30 AM Krispy Kreme hands f*****g down... Krispy Kreme is so much better, I actually get PISSED when I think about Dunkin Donuts. When I was a kid, DD ruled the Earth! I'm one of those people who actually remember how good they used to be. Most people just crunch into a DD and figure, "ahh, yeah.. they were always like this...". Nope! Kripsy Kreme is like an all-out event here in New York. DD is as boring as an old stale donut... I don't know how DD is where YOU are.. But the ones near me don't get any respect at ALL. Mary 2-27-02, 09:54 AM I like both, and I am eagerly awaiting the first Krispy Kreme in Rhode Island. (I've had them on vacations) The coffee is better at Dunkin' Donuts, but there's nothing like a donut fresh out of the fryer. RI is like the world capital of Dunkin' Donuts-- though the store actually started in Massachusetts. We have, literally, more than one store per square mile in some parts of the state. I pass three on the way to work! (a 2.5 mile drive) I don't think Krispy Kreme will be a serious threat to DD's market competitiveness around here, but it will be good to have a choice. sassy 2-27-02, 10:15 AM We don't have either here.. I am so deprived:cry: I don't eat sweets since I am trying to loose weight so even if they had one here I couldn't try it. I will stick with my celery!!!! Taz 2-27-02, 10:21 AM Originally posted by DD86 (*in best "Animal" voice from the Muppets*) KRISPY KREME!!!!KRISPY KREME!!!!!!KRISPY KREME!!!!!!!! Now I have to go get one....thanks a lot!!!  Good one Gretchen.... I agree. That 80z Girl 2-27-02, 11:16 AM We just got our first KRISPY KREME shop here in this area back in November. The lines were hours long for the first 3 weeks it was open! I live about an hour away, but I do get out there at least once a month to get my fix. jen* 2-27-02, 11:22 AM This may be sacreligious, but are there still any Winchell's Donut Shops around? Ya'll remember that old dude. "Time to make the donuts". 80sTrivia 2-27-02, 11:58 AM I love the Krispy Creme donuts. The shop nearest to me closed about six months ago... I was crushed!!! Christine 2-27-02, 12:29 PM Definitely Dunkin Donuts!!! Katzi 2-27-02, 12:56 PM MMMMMMM......DONUTS!!!! My choice is Krispy Kremes:D The nearest KK shop is an hour away from me but what the heck...it's worth the trip! abcmcd 2-27-02, 02:57 PM The Dunkin Donuts around here are awful!:yucky: The Giant grocery store around the corner from me now carries Krispy Kreme!:D My favorite 'tho is a little mom & pop shop in my hometown about 12 miles away called "Donut Shack". They're the best! D2GIRL 2-28-02, 09:19 PM Originally posted by Mary C The coffee is better at Dunkin' Donuts Personally, I go to DD for the coffee. I am addicted to french vanilla, and I only like the one from the DD right down the street from me. As for donuts, if I eat them, I burp them all day, and thats gross. So I just stick to coffee.;) Sal Collaziano 3-01-02, 01:01 AM A Krispy Kreme CLOSED?! Why?! KatieKat 3-01-02, 10:18 AM Krispy Kreme all the way, baby!!! They're from NC and so am I :) There's a KK store right down the road from where I work in downtown Raleigh and I'm telling you: whenever that neon sign in the window is lit up announcing that they have HOT, FRESH doughnuts. . . well, that just starts the mouth watering then! And there is a BIG line to get those doughnuts. They even have a drive-through. fletch699 3-01-02, 11:44 AM Well, being a transplanted northerner... I was raised on Dunkin Donuts. But there used to be this little place called the Donut Hut in my hometown which produced things very similar to Krispy Kreme. I was very disappointed when they went out of business. So now that I'm down here, I think my loyalties have changed (and when my dad came down, I made him a convert, too). ~F LiSaPaLooZza 3-01-02, 09:46 PM Krispy Kreme wins! Hands down!!:hammer: I'm pretty sure all the Dunkin' Donuts's (donuts's??? hmmm...) in the Kansas City area are out of business now. fiya kraka 3-02-02, 12:29 AM Krispy "Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm" Kreme:thumb: pamela* 3-10-02, 12:24 AM My vote goes to dunkin donuts.. but that's only because they have a dunkin robbins/baskin donuts here :p just kidding.. they have a dunkin donuts and baskin robbins together here.. and that's what I call it.. I don't buy the donuts though.. just the ice cream :licky: but I do LOVE those krispy kreme donuts.. never had dunkin donuts to compare the two.. Recker 3-10-02, 12:43 AM :( We don't have any of these in New Zealand! It's not fair! Taz 3-10-02, 02:31 AM Gee Recker, maybe someone should FedEx a package of Krispy Kreme's to ya. :D sassy 3-10-02, 09:35 AM I have never had one and since i live in a place that doesnt' know about them I will never be able to taste one:cry: Taz 3-10-02, 10:37 AM Originally posted by Milani I have never had one and since i live in a place that doesnt' know about them I will never be able to taste one:cry: * Says in Scottish accent * 'Well then, we'll have to remedy that, won't we..' ;) 80sSmurf 3-10-02, 02:14 PM Originally posted by Sal Collaziano Krispy Kreme hands f*****g down... Now here's a man who takes his Donut eating serious ;) :D And this is a Smurf who's not that clever, since he's just insulted the Admin...Now how do I make it up to good ol' Sal again...I could send you a pack of danish...See that's paistry every1 can enjoy. We good again Sal ? :D D A N I E L L E 3-11-02, 12:29 PM I like krispy cream and dunkin donuts. Krispy is nice and soft and airy and sweet. But Dunkin is really a dunkin donut, fuller more to chew. I guess it depends on the mood I am in. Although I do have to agree that Dunkin Donuts has much better coffee. I also feel sorry for all you deprived X-Changers who have neither. Im sure your around the corner shop is good.. but not to rub it in...you are missing out.:goofy: xistenza 3-17-02, 08:18 PM i actually don't like donuts. never really have at all. I did, however, have my first krispy kreme last week when i was in NC. For a donut, it was pretty damn good. However, since i'm not a fan, i'd rather just avoid them and the 600+ calories they contain. I need to save those calories for all the chocolate i eat! *lol* lostboy 3-17-02, 08:44 PM I enjoy Keispy Kreme but I think that the variety that Dunkin offers is superior. There is nothing like a warm Krispy Kreme donought though Polar Bear Jeff 3-17-02, 09:08 PM Never tried Krispy Kreme; unsure about Dunkin Donuts. My favourite are Tim Horton's. Seems that there's a location every 4 blocks here. BCRichRocker4JC 9-15-04, 08:31 PM While I still am not that impressed with Krispy Kreme I still would go with them over Dunkin' Donuts. ObiDave 9-15-04, 09:09 PM I vote for Krispy Kreme! But of course, we don't have Dunkin' Donuts around here. app4dstn 9-16-04, 04:46 PM DD donuts are kinda blah. their key is the hot coffee. a killer for cold weather climates, esp w/ a breakfast sandwich, total convenience. that they now have a whole secondary line of hot weather favorites in recent years is testament to how savvy their leadership is (they expand like a virus). can anything top the sugar hit of the coolatta? this last summer, i developed a real taste for that chocalate bomb they call an iced latte. it perfectly compliments an extra large bucket of balls at the driving range. KK donuts are just a different path to hell. their dual success proves that all we want is to go to our graves dancing, and w/ a smile. plenty of money to be made by both for just enabling us to indulge. i don't know what's nuttier... people lining up before dawn for KK.... or seeing a car parked, and the front seat is LITTERED w/ DD styrofoam cups (i swear... i've seen cars w at least 50 cups in the frontseat). and to think (shudders) that i got a hair up my panties when i first heard that coca cola initialially contained cocaine... we're more drugged up now than any 20th century writer ever envisioned. "better living though chemistry", how appropriate. ok, back to reality.... (dreaming of xlarge iced hazlenut, milk + 3 equals) ok, back to reality... stlkev70 9-16-04, 05:02 PM I can go either way it depends on what kind of donut it is. If its a nice glaze or long john Krispy Kreme is the best! If its cake donut or jelly I love Dunkin Donut. I heard some where on here said that a Krispy Kreme store closed, why???? KimJoy69 9-16-04, 05:14 PM *sigh* Eight great EEEEEARLY mornings in a row, standing in line at Dunkin Donuts on Hwy 192 in Kissimmee... :D ...Krispy Kreme's rule, but NOTHING can top those DD memories. LOSTNTHE80S 9-17-04, 10:28 AM KRISPY KREME...I've had three this morning and I have 5 boxes out in the freezer! SouthernImage 9-17-04, 01:09 PM A donut is a donut is a donut. As long as it's good I don't care. :D BCRichRocker4JC 9-17-04, 01:36 PM A donut is a donut is a donut. As long as it's good I don't care. :D I dunno sis. I've had some pretty nasty Grocery Store brands. Slayergrrl 9-17-04, 01:50 PM Dunkin Donuts coffee is superior to Krispey Kremes crappy coffee. DD all the way! Krispey Kreme's donuts are WAY to sweet for me. SouthernImage 9-17-04, 01:55 PM I dunno sis. I've had some pretty nasty Grocery Store brands. True :yesnod: but I've got an Entemanns outlet around the corner from me. But as fars a DD vs. Krispy Kreme , if ya got it at home I will eat it. LMAO Krull 9-17-04, 02:04 PM Krispy Kreme has the best donuts!!! But Dunkin Donuts has the better coffee! Princess 9-17-04, 03:26 PM For some reason Dunkin Donuts tasted great but always made me feel sick to my stomach afterward anytime I ate them :( So I really haven't had donuts in many years... BCRichRocker4JC 9-17-04, 03:49 PM True :yesnod: but I've got an Entemanns outlet around the corner from me. But as fars a DD vs. Krispy Kreme , if ya got it at home I will eat it. LMAO MMMM...Entemanns!! I love the Cheese filled pastries!!!http://www.anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/appz.gif Slayergrrl 9-17-04, 04:28 PM True :yesnod: but I've got an Entemanns outlet around the corner from me. But as fars a DD vs. Krispy Kreme , if ya got it at home I will eat it. LMAO I got one of those too! Mmmmm, crumb cake. bookmistres4ever 9-17-04, 05:25 PM I'll probably be run outta town and on the next stagecoach outta this mesage board for saying this, but... I hate Krispy Kreme donuts (the only donuts I like are cake) and KK is just too..greasy in my opinion. Dunkin' Donuts are ok, if they've been fairly freshly made. Otherwise they're like chewing on tires (but not greasy - go figure). Have tried homemade donuts (using canned biscuits and a vat of very hot oil) - Really not good, but then I'm no cook. Still on my never-ending quest for the perfect donut. TopCat 9-17-04, 07:01 PM I think KK are to "heavy" However, every now and then I like one or two. The only DD we had here closed down like 8 years ago. I liked them much better then KK Johnny Z 9-17-04, 07:53 PM I like them both, but sometimes it depends on the flavor. I like Krispy Kreme's lemon jelly donuts better, because it doesn't have all that powdered sugar that gets all over you. On the other hand, I like Dunkin' Donuts' strawberry glaze donuts and chocolate frosted donuts. :biglick: whistledog 9-17-04, 08:33 PM I was such a BIG fan of Dunkin' Donuts. The one they had here locally for many many years closed down in the very early 90's :( It is now a 'Mister Transmission'. Guess they gotta put that donut grease somewhere  AngelicR 9-18-04, 02:19 AM Actually, Bern and I go to the grocery bakery and the donuts are much larger and just as yummy for half the price. I like Winchell's more than Krispy Kreme & Dunkin Donuts. My favorite donut maker is a little log cabin called 'The Donut Mill' in Woodland Park, Colorado up in the mountains. They serve all of their donuts hot and they are so dedicant....Yummy...Smiles. :thumb: |
