I don't know what was in fashion in other states versus California, but I remember being the first person in elementary school to sport the big, floral jacket (blazer type) with leggings. Or being the first to come to school wearing a big, florescent pink bow in my hair!! I used to also wear the tight jeans (I remember these bright, blue ones) with the lacey socks and heels. I wore the florescent clothes (not matching of course), the lace see through top with only a bra underneath it (a'la Madonna), or the tons of black bracelets, I had a black Madonna glove......Gosh, what else...suspenders on my jeans, not always wearing, them, just hanging down (why?) and the same with suspenders, layered tank tops, my first pair of aerobic tennis shoes (mom & dad wouldn't buy me Reebok, they were too expensive so I had a store brand that I tried to hide with friendship pins!!) And my old best friend in Jr. High used to wear, PRIMO perfume. I used to also wear a bright red hat with my Guess? jeans...oh God, what was I thinking?? And half shirts, I couldn't get enough of those!! I used to wear the jeans with rips in them too, plus I had a pair of shorts that I stopped wearing in 1991, that had a tear in the butt that I used to wear biker shorts underneath it! That got lots of stares!! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//eek.gif

I remember everything you mentioned. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif I loved my ripped jeans. Always had to make sure to wear something under them though. Some of those rips could show a little much. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif Loved wearing the blazers too. Notice the big blazers are coming back in fashion again. Finally able to go shopping again and find things I like. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif

Wow Jazzmyn, we seem to have a lot in common!! I was thinking on my home for lunch about the make-up too. I used to wear bright blue, green, purple & black eyeliner (now I do dark grey & brown), every color under the rainbow eyeshadow and used to wear pink lipstick with the roll on lipgloss over it.

I did the same thing with make-up. I still remember my colored mascara phase. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif Had gold mascara and a lipstick that matched. Plus there was the pink mascara. Loved color so much back the. Still do though. Wear purple eyeshadow a lot. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

I could never wear the colored mascara. My eyelashes are such a pale blond, that the colored mascara looked hideously ridiculous on me. My sister, who's a brunette, could wear it though. I loved wearing the blue eyeshadow. Don't know if I have the cojones to wear it now though! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

There are some advantages to being a natural brunette. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif I understand about the blue eyeshadow. That was one of the scary make-up looks from the 80's. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//rolleyes.gif

I'm a natural brunette and I wore all the different color make-up and could wear it. When I was a sophomore though, I had a friend pull me aside and tell me to not wear the bright pinks, blues, etc. She was 1/2 Puerto Rican (I'm full!) and 1/2 Nicaraguan so I guess she felt that she should tell us Latin ladies how to do our make-up!

Hope that didn't stop you. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif The 80's were meant to be colorful and fun. I always wore things people would say I shouldn't and ended up getting compliments. I have very pale skin, but the right colors bring out my olive tone. I can get away with more than some people because of that. Interesting when you mix english and portuguese. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

Pebbles, you would have been the queen of my school! I grew up in Maine, and we were always the last to get each and every fad. (Current example: All my aunts & cousins are *still* nuts about Beanie Babies...)

I should dig up some pictures of me and my best friend having a lip sync contest in her yard in 5th grade. (1985) We did the eggplant / fuchsia eye shadow, gelled our hair into spikes, and wore cut-off sweatshirt tops. We thought we were hot sh*t! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif Two ten-year-olds dancing to "Into the Groove" on the picnic table... I bet we were quite a sight.

My style now is my own. I mix & match what I want to wear, not what's in style. I used to do that to a point in high school too. Wore lots of tight jeans, tank tops, mini skirts (jean ones, short, tight Lycra ones), whatever I wanted to wear! I even wore a bustier underneath a sweater with it showing, with pants or a skirt, but when I was in ROC/ROP in my Word Processing class, it was all buttoned up!! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00blush.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00hahaha.gif Now I still wear the tight jeans, but I can't remember the last time I wore a mini skirt! Oh and as for Beanie Babies, I've got one with my favorite animal and a couple small ones from McDonalds. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

I, too.. had similar styles in the early 80s.. in the late 80s, I was more into the ripped jeans and concert tees. I was never into the wild make-up, though.. I don;t know why.. I mean.. I always wore eyeliner and mascara, but usually browns and earth tone eye shadow.. and I have never looked good in lipstick.. I don;t know why!! I loved lip glosses though..!!!

My make-up stays pretty tame now. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif Still love to use color though. I just love the wild hair. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif Know I still look like I'm straight out of the 80's some days. Especially since I'm growing my hair out long. I just always enjoyed looking a little different as a teen. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

Yea, I remember doing the Duran Duran look. I had a gray hat just like John's and those white shoes they always wore. Plus, my two pairs of parachute pants (red and black), a floppy, black spiked belt. Who could not forget all the fluorescent colored shirts.http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif

I remember having a crush on this guy in Junior High that had an earring. He borrowed my pink scarf (it was cold I used to wear it around my neck..) one day home from school. And you know in those days, his dad looked at him like he was nuts! First an earring, then a pink scarf?? Boy did I hold on to that scarf afterwards!! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00blush.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//stareup.gif
