I don't remember if we had covered this topic or not, what was your first job you ever had? Mine was working at a small amusement park for kids under 12. It had a Merry Go Round, a small Ferris Wheel, boat rides, Shetland Pony rides, these small planes that were similar to the Merry Go Round but on these cables, and finally this other Merry Go Round that had these small jeeps you could ride in. The name of the park was Kiddie Acres and I worked there when I was 13/14 back in 1985. I only made like $2.50 an hour. I still do not know how to this day they got away with hiring kids that were under 16.

The first job that I ever had was working as a sales clerk at Heck's Department Store in Madison, Indiana. I was sixteen years old and worked four hours after school during the weekday and five hours on alternating Saturdays and Sundays. Gosh, I can't believe I made like $3.75 an hour back then, and I thought I was so rich!!!

I would work 3 or 4 hours after school two times a week and then like 6 hours on Saturday and Sundays during the school year. In the Summer, 5 days a week, 6 hour days.

At age 14 I worked 18 hour days as waitress/dishwasher/laundry maid/chambermaid at this great little lodge in Sans Souci. I had no place to spend any money, met a lot of great Americans, and nearly fell off the roof doing windows from laughing my butt off hearing Weird Al sing ' like a surgeon'. I made over $10,000 dollars that summer. I spent it rather quickly too on clothes and music. :)

My first job was when I´ve started to become a car mechanic when I was 16.
Worked my ass off for 250$ per month, for three years. After that I swore that I would never been caught tinkering around a car again...now it seems I´m breaking my oath as I want to tune up my ´86 Scirocco and to prepare an older car for my g/f. :)

my first job was working on fishing boat the summer I was 15, worked on a commisson depending what we caught and how much, but it was pretty good money for a summer job, learned two things, one what sea sickness feels like and second no matter how far out to sea you are you still find human garbage floating around the ocean ewww

My first job I got at 16. I worked at Taffy's Dancewear at the Golden Gate Shopping Plaza here in Mayfield Hts. I would fit little girls with their first pair of tap and ballet shoes, get them dressed for class, and I also fit girls for pointe shoes. (Toe shoes.) I got to travel to NYC to learn how to fit pointe shoes from a professional from London, England.

I got the job when I got back from Superstar Drill Team Camp....I was voted a "Superstar Girl", which was the highest honor, and I wanted to go to Hawaii to dance in the Aloha Bowl. I had to pay for half of it. I ended up going both my junior and senior years, and my senior year, I also marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as a Superstar Girl!

I had that job for about 6 years. I loved it!
Free dance stuff...good for a dancer, when pointe shoes cost me about $80 a pair!!

I was a banquet waitress at the restaurant in the Annapolis Holiday Inn. I only worked on Saturdays during the school year, then a little more often during the summer, and made $4/hour, which was great because it was so much more than minimum wage back then.

I was working with my dad doing contracting & construction since I was able to hold a hammer. Of course, in the early years, there wasn't a lot of actual work being done by me, unless you consider playing in the dirt work. LOL :) Later the work was much more demanding.
my first "real" job was @ 15 as a dj at a small AM radio station. I was told once by my station manager that I was the youngest FCC license-holder in my state @ that time. Anyway, it was an easy job. :D

My very first job at about 13 was delivering newspapers in Chicago, which later turned into working in a candy store, amusement park (that was fun). At 16, I worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken part-time at $1.90 per hour. Stayed there for two and a half years before getting a full-time job at 19 working for Motorola.

My first job was waiting tables at a Pizza Inn. I was almost 16. After I turned 16, I went to work at the local Roller Skating Rink. What a place to work in the 80's. That place was jumpin' every weekend!

My first job was translating Dallas and any TV programme for my family and basically went unpaid and came with no gratitude :(

When I was fourteen, I translated for some family friends and then got into tutoring and baby-sitting. I've always stuck with the tutoring/teaching but also took on odd jobs as baby-sitter, waitress (which I thought really prestigious back then) and at one point I had a newspaper round as well.

Worked at a Pet Store under the table for $10 a week. I was around 12 at the time. I used to crush the boxes they put out in the back for them. And it was convenient as the back of the store was located right behind the Apartment building I lived in. The $ came in handy for my Comic book addiction at the time.

Same here Milani, although I don't think I even made $75 a week.

My second job was working (for about a month) in a ice cream parlor (that also sold all kinds of other food including breakfast.) The owner wanted to leave me by myself cooking and scooping ice cream, cleaning, and running register after only being there 3 weeks. I was 15, and that overwhelmed me, since I couldn't cook all that well (still can't.) So I quit.

My first job was babysitting my cousins from 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. three days per week. I didn't really like it because they were brats, and never went to bed before their mom got home. As a result, I didn't get a lot of my homework finished, and my grades suffered. :irked: My first job after graduation was waitressing at a restaurant. I hated that too. :p Late hours and dealing with the drunks that staggered over to sober up after the bar closed. :drunk:

Started my first job on my 16th birthday, bagging groceries at Fry's Food Stores. Four months later I got promoted to Deli Manager (since *I* was the only personnel in the deli department they gave me that title :D ) Was making nearly $5.00/hour and thought that was awesome. Quit 2 years later for an afternoon paper route making more money and working less hours (however I had to work every day and the putting together and delivering the Sunday morning edition sucked :p ).

When I was about 9-10 I helped my Father's Family Owned Local Copy Shop (a small version of Kinkos) to collate and staple projects he had to complete for customers. My Dad gave me a small allowance. I would go after school usually twice a week and sometimes for a few hours on Saturdays.

I had a paper route for the Green Sheet Newspaper in Kearns, Utah. I was about 11 years old. I had to go door to door and ask families if they wanted to subscribe and collect money from them and I would ride my bike and deliver the newspapers every Saturday morning. I remember one day was so cold and the snow seemed to be so deep and my Father and brother had to help me deliver the newspapers. We had to walk them to each home, as the streets were closed as the snow was too deep to even drive your vehicles.

I began babysitting for various neighbors and church familys when I was 12.

My first would have to be shoveling snow. We would have lots of snow days off from school in CT before we moved to NH, where there had to be ten feet of snow before school was cancelled. Anyway, lots of us kids would head out around town looking to do peoples driveways, walks, and steps. My Dad would laugh when he came home from work to find out his ten year old son made twice as much as he did that day. My first 'real' job was at a steak sandwich shop one summer down in Ft. Lauderdale while staying with family for the summer. I was 16, and learned that work sucked. I did get my meals for half off though. Top that Bill Gates....

My first job was washing dishes with my 2 cousins in my Uncle's restuarant. We were 9 and 10. If we worked hard my uncle would give us each $3-4($1 per hour) for working on a Friday or Saturday night.

I worked at this slave driver Car Wash called Pat N Polish! I had at least 10 other friends who worked there over a short period of time. This place was so bad most employes lasted about a week or less .We had several who would go to lunch the first day and not come back! Everyone had various jobs vacuumers,upholstery/windows inside, pre-dry/windows outside and "my job" to drive the cars out of the wash and do the final dry. This was in the direct sun and this was here in Florida mind you in the middle of the summer! If people wanted their white walls cleaned or tar taken off their fenders with mineral spirits that was my job too! Since we were constantly short handed with people quiting and calling in "sick" I often did several peoples jobs! I had days were I would vacuum the car drive it into the wash, clean the interior and inside windows as it went through ,get out do the pre-dry and clean the outside windows, drive it out ,do the final dry, clean the tar off the fenders and do the white walls! :dammit: I had one friend who was really hot looking and the boss had a hard on for her so she got to stay inside in the air conditioning all day "answering the phone" (it hardly ever rang)! We would get these A-Holes who would bring their car in when it was raining and would actually want me to dry it! :grrr:
And here is the kicker!... I did it all for $2.65 an hour! Yep..You read that right! That was NOT a typo! How they got away with this was they gave you tips..Ah but here's the catch! All the tips were put in a tip box then "evenly" divided among the employes! I had weeks were I knew I personally had $40.00 plus in tips. Hell, I had one randy older woman who came in once a week and after cleaning her whitewalls she'd shove a ten dollar bill in my pocket! (I felt like the "Flamingo Kid"! ) Anyway, you didn't get your tip money on payday . They gave it to you every Tuesday! They would call me up after a week were I KNEW I made at least $40 and they would say "Hey.. you've got $3.58 in tip money down here! :bs: To make matters worse I drove a 350 LeMans ! That sucker would have used $3.50 in gas just to pick that $hit up! I finally quit when after partying at Disney World's Grad Night all night I returned on the bus at 6:00AM I as due to be at work in 2 hours! Needless to say that was the end of my "slavery" from that hell hole! :mwaha:
It's still in business today and everytime I drive by I flip them a bird! All my friends that worked there do!

My very first job was working behind a counter at Dairy Queen. I'll never forget it. Worse 4 weeks of my life. LMAO I called him a few choice names threw my apron at him and left
