View Full Version : Favorite Stephen King Book/writing to become a movie Jasper 2-14-02, 12:30 AM WHat would you consider the best Stephen King book or short story to be made into a movie? Explain why. angeleyes25 2-14-02, 01:30 AM What a great topic.I must admit I haven't read any of his books but I'm a fan of his movies.I voted for Carrie. It's my favorite SK movies. That movie scared the crap out of me when I first saw it and it still does.I really like horror movies that have a supernatural theme to it. Recker 2-14-02, 05:22 AM I'm going to go for "Shawshank Redemption". This was a brilliant adaption in my opinion. If we were talking books made into mini-series I would have to make a special mention for these ones: The Stand It The Langoliers (10 Past midnight) Trixter 2-14-02, 05:47 AM I voted for "The Shining". I thought Kubrick handled the novel to film extremely well!! Even though Kubrick didn't stay 100% true to the book, this is something I can overlook (hey, no pun intended! :) ) The film is beautifully shot. I think the characters come off with great definition, almost as well as the novel itself. Casting was perfect! Jack Nicholson's transformation during the film was magnificently captured, I couldn't imagine anyone else playing Jack Torrance! Though the film was plagued with several setbacks, feuding talent, and running over budget, Kubrick managed to capture and create a real masterpiece. "The Shining" will always remain one of those great films I never tire of watching! :) Dancingdoll1986 2-16-02, 05:57 PM I went with Shawshank Redemption. Every time it's shown on TV, I am rivited to the screen. It's really good, it makes me think, and each time I watch it, I pick up something else that I missed the previous times. 80sTrivia 2-16-02, 08:06 PM I was going to vote for "Other", but, for some reason, my vote for this poll wouldn't register. At any rate, my choice would be "Misery", which was a very faithful adaptation of King's book, with a riveting performance by Kathy Bates as obsessed fan Annie Wilkes... Iluvthe80s 2-16-02, 11:19 PM I went with "The Shawshank Redemption" also. Like dancing doll, I am drawn to watch it every time it comes on TV. Plus, it is a brilliant storyline. space-invader 2-17-02, 03:13 AM i saw stephen king once just hanging around at a vegas casino nearly 10 years ago....oh well i thought, and headed towards the roulette table 80sTrivia 2-17-02, 08:41 AM Well, I was finally able to vote in the poll, so at least my vote for "Other" has been registered!!! :) |
