What was your hairstyle like in the 1980s? Did you dye it fun colors, shave it, have long hair...?
I had mine cut in 1981 or 82 just like Olivia Newton-Johns in Lets get physical. I left it that way til' about 1985. Of course mine didn't look as good as hers but I wanted to be just like her!

I had very short hair once with a tail :p (I didn't like that) Than I had long hair with the sides shaved out :) From there I went to permed hair, like in my graduation pic in 'Then and Now' under 'Topcat Then'

Well, I had it long from Jr. High to High School. My freshman year of High School I cut it pretty short and by the time my Junior Year had gotten here it was long again and that is how I kept it through the rest of school.

Kept mine sorta long-ish...then, in highschool it went to the shoulders and was layered/feathered? Sometimes permed, sometimes not! didn't cut it short until after I had kids! :o boy was I upset! Now we're growing it out again!

long and permed in the early 80's. (yikes)
i cut it short and bleached it white in the mid 80's.
i'd spike it up sometimes, like the girl in 'Roxette'.
then let it grow to a bob;still white. people on the streets would call me Madonna.
i didn't like that (in my alternative, new wave-goth music phase.lol)
let it grow out and to it's original color.
now it's straight, just past my shoulders and layered a bit. letting it grow more.
the wash and go look with no hassles. lol

In the early 80's I had it shoulder length and feathered on the sides...hehe :) Then later I had it long and pulled up in a half ponytail with poofy bangs :D

I've always had short hair. Changed the color a few times though. lol ;) Still did the big hair thing though. Always got compliments on it. Look at pics now and wonder how I got my hair to do that. lol Browing it out now and just recently went black with the color.

Kept my short and spiked (ala Kevin Bacon) in high school. In college, I changed it though. Actually wore it down to my shoulders for quite a while.

My hair was long. Most of the time, I had the sides short because that's how my girlfriend liked it. But, it was long - about down to the middle of my back. Parted in the middle (more or less - wherever the middle was!).

In the 80s, I despaired of my hair daily. It's poker-straight and flat, and doesn't hold any kind of curl unless you fry it with lots of hair spray. I so wanted braids, or at least poofy bangs, but neither one was meant to be. Just me in my geeky, blonde pixie cut, always being mistaken for a boy!

In junior high, I finally grew my hair out of the pixie cut, and it's been between chin-length and mid-back-length ever since. My worst trouble with it when I first grew it out was that the ends of my hair refused to curl under. They very stubbornly flip up all around and make me look like Patty Duke, LOL. I spent so much of 1986 through 1989 trying to curl my cussed hair under, the "right way." Of course, the "flip" is in, (or it was last year anyway) now that it's long enough to hold its own ends down. Heh!

For fun things, I bought that wash-in Pizzazz stuff all the time. My hair was really light blonde, so all the colors showed beautifully. The burgundy color was weird, but I loved the copper. I wish they still made Pizzazz...

I've always had long hair, so in junior high when I went for the feathering in the early 80s, the stylist just cut "feathers" half-way down. My hair is bone straight so it just sat in layers on the side of my head. My mom suggested a perm (BIG mistake! ) , so then I had two inch long permed frizz sticking out the side of my head from the top to chin level.

Finally that perm grew out and I found a hair stylist who angled my hair all the way down the side so that it even held a curl and "feathered" all the way down like Farrah Fawcett and I was very happy. That worked for me throughout high school and into college. Those junior high school hair days are something I'd like to forget.

Nowadays I'm basically back to the bangs and straight down the back I had in elementary school, but it's not nearly as long.

yikes! I had teased bangs on top of something that looked like Lars Ulrich on the Metallica "And Justice For All" LP.. MY GOD, WHAT was I thinking?? I am still so appalled..I had a brick wall of auqa-net spirting up from my forehead that would have probably have broken in two if looked at the wrong way ..and practically a girl-mullet.. I think I am going to die now.. thanks for bringing up this awful memory.. *lol*

I always had long hair or at least shoulder length until junior high. My hair is thin and ultra straight. My mom talked me into having it cut really short in 8th grade, she said it would "look fuller if it was short". Wrong! It took a couple years for it to grow back to waist length where I had it. I hated my straight hair so had many. many perms through high school trying to get the "big hair" like the hair metal bands had (Poison, Whitesnake, ect). My hair was so fried from perms by the time I graduated! I kept bangs, and the top layered so I could rat it, then applied massive amounts of maximum hold hairspray! My hair color was always my natural reddish-brown though. I wanted to dye it black several times in high school but my mom wouldn't let me.

Had my hair every color and every style! Including a mohawk and cornrows like Bo Derek! Loved them all

Hehe, I had a half dozen or so variations of a mullet...permed, straight, teased, long sides, shaved sides, and nearly always colored some shade of red. I wore a head-rag or a hat often, too (when the mullet was being non-cooperative). I was always teased in school about my 'banger hair' :banger:

I had my hair short and spiked in high school. Even colored bleach blonde. You know the Billy Idol look. I even shaved it all off senior year. The things I did to impress the girls. :goofy:

Pretty short until about 8th grade. Then, I pretty much kept it shoulder length (feathered) until it was time for graduation pics. After the pics, yep, back to the shoulders.

 This made me think of something my mom did once. She didn't like me keeping it long so she paid the stylist to cut it short! I was very p#$%ed off! My mom hasn't admitted it but I inferred it from things the stylist said.
