Okay. Can anyone add into this section? We may, at some point, use the information posted here for a new page on the 80sxchange.com site.. This would be for important "happenings" during the 80s decade. Such as when President Reagan became president - along with the date. Can anyone build on this?

How about when the AIDS virus was announced on TV? I think someone mentioned that in a "Where were you when..." thread. It's too important not to mention...I know that it was in the early 80's...not sure of exact date.

I'm pretty positive the year was 1981...I'll have to think about this topic...

Yeah, I have a feeling this topic may grow quickly. There are so many big things that happened in the 80s decade.. Let's see what we can put together. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

Well, I think the most important thing is this:

I was born on August 19, 1984.

I'll agree, Astrogirl... that 1984 was a great year!!
I believe it was one of my favorites..especially for music... Van Halen had a great album that year!!!

I think we need to go back to 1980 when John Lennon was murdered, Then Reagan becoming President in Jan. of 1981, The Iranian hostages being released that day, and then President Reagan getting shot by Hinkley. Jeez! The 80's started off with so much drama! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//PSYCHEDELIC.gif

Inspired by this post, I've recently put together a bunch of major headline events that happened in each year of the 80's...right now it's kinda miniscule, but it's all I could come up with given my schedule. If you want a few ideas, check out the year by year thing at my eighties section (I'm too lazy to post them all up http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif):

Thanks Purple and Roem. And Roem, that's exactly what I want to do for 80sxchange.com - I want a page where you can click on a year and see all the major headlines. Maybe we'll just end up using the info you're putting together and plaster links and images enroute back to your site.... It seems a lot of 80s sites have a section like this but we're lacking it here...

I haven't seen any other 80's sites with this (that's why I added it to mine http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif). Those pages still need a lot of work...I just put them together quickly to turn this little vision into reality http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

I was too young (or not even born) when all those big events happened during the 80's, but this would be a great way for the young members such as myself to learn about those things!!! Great idea Sal!!!
