Yeah.. I had shrinky dinks... I am in awe that the commercial was played though... are they still around? You should check out the section in the category (forum) called "I miss my toys".. We talked about lots of different 80s toys... including Shrinky Dinks!

Wow! Are they still around? That seems to be the big question here. I suppose they are! Cool.. I wonder if they "came back" or have always been there...

My favorite Christmas present when I was in 5th grade was my Mork and Mindy shrinkydinks.

They burned in the oven though!

Oh, what did you leave them in for too long? I have no idea which Shrinky Dinks I had. How do you remember this kind of detail?!

oh wow. I haven't seen those since I was 6 or 7. We had fun with them. Though I don't remember what figures we made, either.

here's a site (we couldn't make key chains and stuff with them, or could we?) I'll have to make some things!

You could do something simillar with chip packets also (before they went to foil) eat chips out of packet- turn oven on - place chip packet in oven - observe - instant shrinkage.
(like a fella going for a swim in lake michigan post thanks giving dinner- you know who you are)

My mom was always worried that my brother and I would burn the house down so, alas, I never had any of my own. Like most pre-pubescent boys however, I was fascinated with those Mad Scientist chemistry sets. But the best had to be those cool monster molds! Does anyone remember what they were called? They were those kits that had the packets of colored powder (I think it was just flower and a hardener or something) and the plastic molds. The deal was that you mixed the powder, poured it in the mold and after it set you had your own little chalky, clay type monster. Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Mummy. :bouncy:Those and The Can-O-Slime… Ah, sweet, sweet youth.
