Hey Y'all,

Does anyone remember Dolly Parton's variety show in the later part of the 80's?

I remember the show only lasted a season and had some interesting guest appearances. I remember Whoopi Goldberg on the show doing her Valley Girl routine. Paul Rubens doing Pee-Wee Herman. As well as Oprah, Bruce Willis, Burt Reynolds, comedienne Brett Butler of 'Grace Under Fire' fame, Dolph Lundgren, Jon Lovitz. Dolly's show also had musical guests. I remember Linda Rondstat and Emmylou Harris the most, because of their contributions with Dolly on "Trio".
They sounded great together. I love the cd!! :thumb: Tom Petty and Patti LaBelle were also musical guests. Dolly would always end the show with her song, "I'll Always Love You". Too bad it was cancelled after it's first season! :(

I remember Dolly's show back in the 80s as well, Trix. She had just lost a lot of weight at the time and she actually looked anorexic, at least for a while there. I also remember Dolly's variety show from the late 70s, the one where she would be on the swing at the end singing "I Will Always Love You"...

You're right Michael, I forgot about the weight loss Dolly had gone through, and she did look anorexic! It's after this show she would start to do a string of movies, good ones at that! I vaguely remember the 70's variety show, those years were exclusively
for Sonny & Cher, The Cher Show, and Shields & Yarnell! I'm laughing, but it's true! :thumb:

You know what I remember about Dolly's show? The rainbow butterfly that flew across the screen. lol I kid you not. And the only line I can remember from that song is "Love is like a butterfly", even though I sang the whole song to myself when I was on the swings for Kindergarten recess. I remember that recess better than the show, though....and that may have been the 70s variety show, now that I count the years  !!!
