That's sad news. I loved those books!

The name Astrid is so pretty, too. Goes rotten with my married name... oh well... guess I'll have to save it for a pet, rather than a daughter. ;)

I have much respect for Astrid Lindgren. Her stories was a big part of my life as a child. I always wanted to be Pippi when I was a little girl. I am glad she lived to see many generations loving her stories.

I hope I remember this right.... Last year here in Canada a couple of little girls made news by possibly saving a boy's life when he teetered and fell out a window - they were on the ground below and had spread out a towel/blanket/sheet or something between them to break his fall. They had read of this happening in a Pippi Longstocking book.

She was a wonderful woman with a wonderful imagination. Swedish television cancelled their original programmes and instead aired programmes about her and her life. She'll be missed but she'll live on through her books and children all over the world will surely enjoy them as much as we have enjoyed them.

And Kira - I know what you mean about wanting to be Pippi - she was a favourite choice of mine to dress up as when I was little :D

Saw it in the news yesterday...yes, her death is a loss, though I´m sure it meant relieve for her.

See you in Nangijima, Astrid...now you are in another world, but your imaginative force will live on eternally.
