You are right, "Pump Up The Volume" remained M/A/R/R/S' only hit - and also their only release (actually, a 12" and a Remix 12" were released).
A further album was planned, but due to financial problems of the label (4AD), it was never realized.

M/A/R/R/S was some kind of 'artificial band', assembled from members of Colourbox and AR Kane, added with the DJs Chris "C.J." Mackintosh and Dave Dorrell.

In 1987, "Pump Up The Volume" reached #3 in Germany.

"Pump up the volume, pump up the volume, pump up the volume... Dance! Dance!"

This was the only song that I remember from M/A/R/R/S. I have the 45 single, somewhere deep in my collection. This is a great song to dance to... :)

Does anyone else from the UK remember a cover of 'Pump Up The Volume' called 'Pump Up The Bitter' by a band called 'Star turn on 45 pints'?

They were from Newcastle, and when sung in a Geordie accent it was hilarious. Lyrics like 'drink 15 pints and what do you get, you wake up in the morning and your bed is wet' :lol:

I thought it would've been deleted, but apparently "Pump Up The Volume" made them a hit that still carries on today.

MAARS and their tune "Pump Up the Volume" still rocks after all this time. I have a CD containing that song and I still crank it up!

Not only is this a great song but the fact that they sample Eric B and Rakim makes it that much better. That would be Rakim you hear saying "Pump up the volume, pump up the volume, pump up the volume, dance, dance".

Pump up the volume is a great dance song. I also remember the funny Pump up the bitter. My big brother used to play that with his friends every weekend.
