View Full Version : Marijuana
Caligula 1-27-02, 05:56 AM for me, I did it a bit, a couple days a week through junior and high school, but never now, Last time was about 4 years ago, and I was stoned, the new stuff is alot stonger than what we had in high school. I didn't stop for moral or helath reasons, I just don't like it that much
Iluvthe80s 1-27-02, 06:06 AM I have never tried it, but I don't think it is a tool of the devil. I couldn't vote for that. I believe if you want to do it, it is your business. After being around some friends that do it, I see it is not all what the government tries to make it out to be. If anything, it just relaxes you.
Cartoon_Chris 1-27-02, 01:41 PM I voted for never but I wouldn't call it a tool of the Devil. I would move VERY, VERY CAREFULLY towards decriminalizing it.... after watching all the underage smokers huddled round the smoking area in high school, then going to class reeking of cigarette smoke, my biggest concern is a generation of Cheech and Chong Jr.'s stumbling into class like that. Teachers have a hard enough time already.
Ted Nugent 1-27-02, 02:15 PM I didn't vote because I won't ever do it but, I don't think it's a tool for the devil. I beleive it's none of the goverments buisness and I think it should be allowed. Although I hate people who do it, I see it as a weakness in character. I get by more than fine without drugs or drinking or smoking anything. If someone needs that escape then their life is just a wasteland and I do not want to be a part of it.
I explained this once in another thread... but when I was about 7 or 8, my mother's boyfriend would give my sister and I shotguns.. so I guess you could call that a little "experimenting at a young age" I saw enough drug use throughout my childhood to know that I didn't want any part of it.. My mom had a lot of issues and I knew I never wanted to go through any of that. Since then.. no, I haven't used or even experimented with marijuana or any other drug for that matter. You never know how easily you can become addicted to things until it's too late.
I have to admit, I did some through out high school and in my 20's. Not all the time but when we all went out I did. We had a name for it "wax" You would ask you friends if they had any "wax" and if they "wanted to wax the car" We had a kid who could make anything with aluminum foil.
I would not wax the car now. :)
Shortie Blonde 1-27-02, 03:48 PM I don't use it now, but that doesn't mean I won't use it tomorrow.
Dancingdoll1986 1-27-02, 07:30 PM When I went away to KSU, one of my friends had a joint, so I tried it once. I took the hit, and then my throat and lungs burned. I thought to myself, "What the hell is so great about this?" and never tried it again.
I had a friend who tried it at a young age, and then progressed into other, harder, drugs. They got sent away at a young age, and I never really wanted to try it. (Peer pressure.) On the other hand, Michael, (my baby brother), wrote an awesome paper for school in college, about the decriminalization of marajuana. Needless to say, I think the medical properties in it for some terminal illnesses is a positive thing.
Kind of torn.
Roemello 1-27-02, 10:22 PM I've never done it and never will...but like the others, I don't think it's a tool of the devil either (there is no devil in my beliefs :p). It's nothing I'd critisize people for doing....to each their own, but destroying my body for a high has just never been my style....:p
I tried it a couple of times. But I figured I didn't need any help with laughing and I didn't need to get sleepy, I had to stay up and drink. LMAO! Sad but true, my friends. I wasn't always the sweet, naked love muffin you see before your computer screens today. Thank God for that. Uptight people are boring. ;) I never tried harder drugs than those, though. Unless and until they were prescribed.
angeleyes25 1-27-02, 11:56 PM Never it's a tool for the devil.
I think Cal was being sacrastic by referring to it be a "tool for the devil" ;) The devils real tool is Ted! :p LOL
Caligula 1-28-02, 04:58 PM Yes if i had known the "Devils Tool" comment would stop people from voting no, I would never have included it. > Ted am I allowed to have a beer or two or am i just trying to escape the wasteland of a life i have?:)

lol I meant alcoholics when I said that. :p Most people who drink heavily are trying to escape somthing though.
TC, for the last time I am not his tool. He would never do that to his child. LOL
Roemello 1-28-02, 09:26 PM I could take out that 'tool from the devil' part if it'll make the poll come off easier to answer...yes? no?
I voted no its the tool of the devil. No, I don't think it is that though. When I read it, I thought the saying was just a joke.
A simple "no I've never tried it" is enough. To me, that answer is about as extreme as this:
Have you ever had an abortion?
YES - GOOD RIDDANCE
NO - ITS WRONG AND A SIN
Well that's cut and dry. What if you said yes, but it wan't a good riddance? Or you said no, but you don't feel its a sin?
I would definitely drop the "tool of the devil" part. Even though I saw it as a joke, I can see how others wouldn't.
I've never tried it, never will. In my life I've known a few people who smoked it. One guy even said, and I quote:
"Smoking pot makes you smarter"
Of course everybody that has heard this from me laughed and said he obviously has smoked WAY too much pot!

Yes Roem take it out:)
I smoked Maryjo when I was younger and was never interested in using any other kinds of drugs. I did know people who had to smoke Marijuana everyday and they experimented on other drugs too. One guy who went to school with me loved to party. He was a nice guy and I considered him a friend. He mixed pills and liquor at a party one night, and it turned out to be his last. He had just turned 21 a couple of weeks before that night. I quit smoking it about twenty-five years ago. These days keeping my job is more important than smoking dope.
18th Century Brain 1-29-02, 10:51 PM I've never tried it, but it doesn't bother me that other people have. I think that as long as what you do to yourself doesn't affect others, it's nobody's business, not even the government's. If you want to smoke, not wear a seatbelt, or not wear a motorcycle helmet, that should be up to you. If you are an adult and want to take the risk, it should be legal.
The older I get, the more of a libertarian I become.:)
My Obsession 1-30-02, 01:03 AM I'm not one who is prone to addictions. Well, at least not the common addictions such as smoking, or taking drugs, or drinking.....
I've tried marijuana before, a few times,I guess it was kinda wild, yeah....
I remember sitting in a chair, looking at my right arm... and I couldn't lift my arm, no matter how hard i tried.. LOL.. it was crazY.... you see all sorts of weird stuff.
If it was available for me, or if I was offered it, i *might* try it again. But I haven't touched it since 1998.
I tried it three times when i was younger. My ex was and still is a pot head. He wanted me to try it.. at first i was so stoned i just feel asleep. THe second time i was at a bar and they were passing it around outside. I didn't know it was laced with something and i couldn't stop coughing. The third time i was throwing a party and we were all playing strip poker.. the looser had to take a hit of a joint naked. Well since i was playing with all guys.. (go figure) I lost so i had to take a hit. I had a bad reaction to it.. i thought i was going to die. MY throat closed up and i couldn't breath!!!
NEVER AGAIN.. THE STUFF SUCKS.. I DON'T SEE WHY PEOPLE LIKE IT,, IT MAKES YOU SO DARN LAZY...
Have you ever noticed someone who is high? They have that flat look in their eyes.
Shortie Blonde 1-30-02, 03:09 PM Have you ever noticed someone who is high? They have that flat look in their in their eyes.
My best friend had all reactions to pot at the same time one day during lunch in 7th grade. Pretty ****ed up, scared us all shitless; good thing no teachers noticed. The places I used to live in in Maine were all near the "Pot Capitol" of Maine so I saw this shit a lot.
Cartoon_Chris 1-30-02, 03:12 PM With all the "never tried it" answers winning out, this thread has become very interesting to me, considering how we hear that drug usage is now rampant and "X high percentage of teenagers admit to trying drugs" or "high school drug usage is at its highest level since the late '70s".
Is the fact that this is an '80s board help explain this gap? Was drug usage at its most "uncool" in the '80s? Did it really work when '80s kids were told to "just say no" after all? It seems from what I've read and heard that in the '70s it was considered OK to be wasted all the time, and today drug usage is glorified in a lot of music like rap.
this charming man 1-30-02, 05:13 PM I've never tried it, I never really wanted to try it.
I did want to try acid in the eighties, but knowing my luck, I would have got that dodgy tab that killed you.
Normally I would say that most people who have said "I never tried it" are lying, but in this forum, I would imagine most people are telling the truth.
I really never did try it. I've been given at least 3 chances with a bong right up to my face. Never had the desire.
Out of all the people I have known in the past 5 years, I only known 3 people who haven't. Two are good friends of mine who say they haven't (and are probably telling the truth), the other was an old co-worker. This guy had no personality and always looked pissed.
Most of my g/fs and co-workers have tried it. I don't see anything wrong with "trying it", but getting hooked is bullshit. I once lived with a stoner chick who took a bunch of my belongings and hocked them to buy drugs. I would have kicked her ass, except I couldn't find her. She was a WELL KNOWN drug user. The deal is, it wasn't my place so I couldn't kick her out.
I have NO tolerance for drug users. I told my live in if I ever catch her with pot (I haven't yet), shes out of there. No second chances, no I'm sorry, your gone.
Like others have said, I believe its your decision. You are an adult, if you want to rot your brain, you have that right.
Although I've NEVER met a frequent drug user who had any amount of possessions. All their money goes to drugs.
VioletFoxx 2-03-02, 06:48 PM I've been there, I've smoked it, and now I'm clean. Nuff said.
And it seems to me, from my memories of high school anyways, that this was really not the drug of choice back then. I seem to recall everyone trying speed and coke, and ofcourse, acid.
I smoked a few times in HS and my early 20s. Never did like the way it made me feel. Shortness of breath and heart racing are not my idea of a good time. NEVER tried acid. I was too scared of it. I tried Crystal Meth ONCE. Danced my ass off and talked to my friend until 7:00 the next morning. Then I worked all day, and fell into bed exhausted that night. I can count on one hand the number of times I did coke. Here's the kicker. Not one time did I ever pay money for any of it. That's the scariest part of all!
Westend Girl 2-04-02, 01:39 AM I have never tried it and I have never had the desire to try it. I have had many friends who smoked it, but I never really wanted to be like them when they were high. I think I am too active for something like that.

I really don't think there was any coke at my highschool or speed. Acid was very popular though both tabs and blotter. Mescaline (sp) also made an apperance at school
My stance on pot in particular is that adults are responsible for their own choices & for the consequences. If you're willing to put up with the consequences, make your choice. I've seen a lot of friends use it as a "gateway drug" and then get into much more trouble later on.
I haven't tried it myself. My junior year roommates were complete potheads, and if I needed any demonstration as to why I didn't want to try it, there they were. :D They were all really nice people, but I got so bored with their idea of "socializing." (laughing their asses off until 4 AM) I really didn't care what they did, as long as they made sure my dresser drawers and my closet door were both closed before they lit up, so I didn't smell too much like them in the morning. I was mostly sleeping in my boyfriend's room that year anyway.
My high school was rural, but full of all kinds of drugs, even 10 years ago. One of my best friends went to jail for selling speed, and he had a terrible time getting clean after he got home from jail. The worst part was that he got into it with the innocent & noble idea of making money for college, then he started sampling the merchandise. (!!??) Absolute sweetheart... zero common sense. His experience, and what he put his friends & family through, definitely convinced me to stay away from anything remotely related.
We had a lot of good talks about it in the year or so before he died in an unrelated car accident. He said he hoped I'd never find out about it, and he was so embarrassed that I did, because he wanted me to think the best of him. And he told me that if I ever did anything like it, he'd kick my ass! I wasn't scared of him, as he was a skinny little David Spade lookalike, but I knew he meant it. Plus, he had huge Doc Martens, and those *would* have hurt!
Sorry for the depressing post. I've posted about my lost friend twice already this morning. It comes and goes.
Tried it a couple times at concerts in the 80s.. didn't care for it at all.. I can't stand ANY type of smoke so it's not a good choice for me ;)
I am with you, Ted.. I agree that it "cheapens" a person's appearance and makes me think a little less of them... although my husband totally disagrees with me.. :(
It's a gross habit, just like smoking cigarettes, in my opinion... and like I said, it's just not for me.
I smoked it in my yoot. lol
Nancy Regan says: "Just Say No" :)
Actually, I never felt the need to experiment or escape. I was a nerd I guess, because I did wear the "Just Say No" button in school. I still haven't indulged, but have friends that do and respect my space. :)
Caligula 2-05-02, 05:10 AM I don't do it ,did it as a kid, I don't buy that it leads to harder drugs though, I'm sure almost all hard drug abusers will say they have smoked marijuana but they will also say they have drank alcohol. From all the people who smoke or have smoked marijuana only a small amount percentage ever go on to harder drugs. I did have a discussion one time with a person, and I felt that marijuana actually causes less problems than alcohol both physically and socially. Well thats my opinion and it's from someone that does not or will never smoke it in the future

when you talk about people on the 80's board were not dealing with a random sample so to speak
maybe those who tried drugs are less likely to be a part of the 80s board or respond to this thread or even be a computer user!
for the record i have never tried it
LadyMysTrix 2-11-02, 01:22 AM Didn't try it til after college, and then only a few times (5 max).
It wasn't bad though. I'm a happy pot head though. I can't stop giggling and my face hurt the next morning from smiling and laughing so much. Haven't done it in many years.
Sara Smile 2-11-02, 01:09 PM I have never tried it. I think it makes people look ugly and passive. It would never be my choice of drug for a fun night out.

How can you be my Arch-Nemesis if we agree Cal? lol
Did it as a kid in early HS. All it ever did was make me feel sleepy. Got real bored of it in a hurry. Acid was popular around my neck of the woods too. Liked that too much so gave that up as well. Neither experimentation lasted very long.
Too much Irish blood in me. Booze is all you need. :)
Christine 2-11-02, 05:03 PM Never tried it. I don't think it's a tool of the devil either though.
I smoked three quarters of South America when I was a teenager, that's how I got the nickname "Cap'n Toasty" from Taz....once in a blue moon now.
Just like the other posts, I believe it is your choice. I probably drink too much for some. Some nights I will down a 6 pack, other nights maybe 1 or 2, and other nights nothing.
My ball and chain smoked pot from about 16 (maybe 18) until a few months before we met.
It's a personal decision. I figure if you want to rot your brain out and spend your money on something that you have nothing to show for it (in the end), that is your right.
One thing I have seen in common with all moderate to heavy pot smokers is that they don't own anything worth while. Most of their green goes to weed.
I simply don't hang out with drug users. I don't look at them like they are scum, they just are making certain choices in their life that I prefer not to be a part of.
Simple as that.
(needed to edit as one sentence sounded like I smoked pot.... wrong)
The80sAngel 2-22-02, 01:05 PM I've never tried any drugs on purpose (though once a "friend" didn't give me a choice... needless to say, he was *not* my "friend" after that night). And I don't think I spent much time around anyone that did mj (I could be wrong though, I never really asked). Many of my co-workers "powdered their noses" at company gatherings, though. I was never into that, either. I may be a party girl and love to have fun, but I'd rather remember the fun and not fry my noodle doing it. :p
COOL BREEZE 2-22-02, 01:29 PM Tried 4 times in my life after highschool several years apart.Made me silly twice ,a little paranoid once and tired once. Never saw the big deal! Haven't in 20 years don't ever plan to again.I very very rarely smoke cigarettes. I just don't care for smoke in my eyes, clothes, on my breath or someone elses!A little hint ladies most guys don't like kissing an ashtray!
Did you ever notice pot smokers can't smell the pot smoke? But, every one else can smell it a mile(or 2) away!
I'll let you in on a little secret "pot heads" If you light up in your car even with the tinted windows rolled up I can identify your car in a matter of seconds and so can a cop!
This statement is probably going to get a lot of response but
"I think all this crap about cigarettes being addictive is just that crap!" Let me clarify. While it is true that many people are addicted to cigarettes it is NOT the nicotine. I can smoke 6-8 cigarettes in one night and walk away from them for a year or more no problem. I have 2 friends who are also able to do this. None of us think nicotine is addicting! What smokers are addicted to is the oral fixation of having something in your mouth or a hand fixation of having something in your hand . For some people it's both so cigarettes pacify that person. There is also a temporary moment of relaxation when you first light up,breath in then breath out that first breath of smoke. This is psychosomatic. The same feeling can be felt by taking a deep breath, that first taste of a beer or good steak lots of things! You smokers let me know how you feel about this.
COOL BREEZE
"It's kind of smokey in here".. "Noisy"... "Crowded"... "Smokey"
"What do you say we take a walk?.. "To my place".. "What do say we run?"... "I'm in room 17...Do you think you can remember that?"
"I'll carve it into the back of my hand!" -Tim Matheson & Jennifer Runyon from "Up the Creek"
BrandyBlue 2-22-02, 02:19 PM the one option that fit me isn't there--a little then, a little now. Everything in moderation, great for migraines, occasionally socially as long as I am not driving and there are no children in the house that i am using it in. I don't beleive that people should take food out of their children's mouths for it, any more than for alcohol. Don't knock it until you have tried it.
idexpectnoless 3-04-02, 01:26 AM I've always been into sports Baseball, Wrestling in High School. Still play competetive tennis so I avoided smoking of any kind. But, I have had occassions when I have taken a hit or two. 10 times max the last time in 1994 before I was married. Me and my buddy were out with two girls by a lake and one girl had some with her...............Come on now what was a guy to do???:goofy:
Savedge1 3-20-02, 08:46 PM Been there done that. Started when I was 5 years old with some brownies. Could roll one by the time I was 6. Hooked on Poncis worked for me. :D
Smoked out through most of high school and some during college (was the joint rolling queen) but have been clean for years now. It was fun but I'm past that now. Okay, when I retire I'm moving to Amsterdam!!!
Valley Dude 3-20-02, 09:38 PM I must have grown up in a different world from most of you folks :D When I was in high school in San Diego in the early '80s, absolutely everybody smoked pot. I smoked the stuff regularly for a good decade. Got A's in most of my math and science classes in college while doing it. And I had long hair to boot!
I really don't understand the put-downs from drinkers. Hey, pot's no more powerful than beer, trust me I've done extensive research ;) And it isn't even in the same ballpark as hard liquor. The effects aren't that much different from beer either - beer just makes you somewhat more agressive while pot makes you more passive. Judging from some of the posts - dudes, that must have been LSD or something you took  Me and all me friends smoked the stuff constantly and nobody ever had anything worse happen to them than our band going on long jams that probably wouldn't have sounded good to a straight person :goofy:
Personally, I'd much rather smoke pot than drink. Alcohol gives you liver and kidney damage, not to mention hangovers. Pot, well, perhaps it gives you cancer, if you smoke two packs of joints a day for twenty years. And no hangovers. It costs less - a lot less (or at least it used to). A quarter ounce for $35 would last a week easily. How many minutes can you spend at a bar for that? And believe me, I've met more than my share of people who love going to the bars who have no money at all.
But to each their own.
scott28883 3-20-02, 10:18 PM Never tried it and never will but I dont think its the tool of the devil. I think it might be really good for medical purposes for people who are in really bad and constant pain.
ImSoooSure 3-24-02, 01:58 AM Wow, the outcome of this poll so far really shocks me. I never used it and never will. All my friends did though. It was so common in high school and college. I just dont like any type of smoking.
80sTrivia 4-02-02, 09:20 AM I had a toke off a joint once or twice as a teen, just to see what it was about. As I don't smoke, it never had any interest for me. I have no interest in drugs of any kind.
cultleader 4-09-02, 04:08 PM I smoked pot occasionally(surprise, surprise)but it just tended to make me sleepy.I prefered speed much better(great stuff for going to shows)but now I pretty much gave up all drugs and just drink.I loves my alcohol(and my cigarettes also).
I have friends that still smoke pot(some more than others)and I see nothing wrong with it if thats your thing.
Greenway88 4-10-02, 08:21 AM Never tried it, never will!
CinderGirl 4-10-02, 09:19 PM I tried this once when I was 17, and since that night, it's never crossed my mind to try it again. Just didn't see the big deal!
Like Pamela, I saw plenty of drug use going around when I was growing up so I always did my best to stay away from it.
It may not be my thing, but I wouldn't go as far as to judge someone else who's into it.
BlitzKid 5-08-02, 07:10 AM Never tried it, i have this big aversion on inhaling something so i don't smoke anything. And besides coffee i don't use any drugs. :)
sketcher 5-08-02, 08:29 AM I've involuntarily inhaled it at various clubs (and at work!). It always annoyed me. But the worst I've done was cigars and cigarillos (and ok, I confess, I do the hard stuff like coffee and protein shakes).
Never tried it, never will. I remember in middle school the police brought some in for a demonstration. Just the smell of it when it was lit was gaggy:yucky:
Never tried it and I have no interest.
I got a good laugh out of the choices though. That is funny, Caligula.
Never used any drug! Answer your question??
Wow, look at the pretty lights....:wacky: :4psycho: :groovy: :bouncy:
Woah, big spiders, carrying cans of human spray...:yikes: :bigeek:
LOSTNTHE80S 7-03-02, 08:41 PM I used to do it a couple of times a day during one summer..I was going through a very hard time. The last time I did was about 14 years ago though. I hope nobody thinks any less of me now. :) I was just hanging around some people at the time who were into that.

i actually respect you more:D
Cartoon Chris - your forget about the use of harder drugs like Cocaine in the 80s was in...
I tried it a few times over the years and it does nothing for me. Liquor is quicker  My other half used to smoke on the weekend before we moved in together but hasn't in years and years.
Liked it as an old teen and young twenty something but only on a very very rare occasion now.
Caligula 3-19-03, 05:08 AM just bringing an old poll back
Rhelawen 3-19-03, 08:04 AM I smoked a few joints as a teenager. Did a little hash too. Never understood what all the fuss was about. I preferred cigarettes and alcohol.
You may all now assume the position. The FBI, the CIA, the ATF and the boy scouts are now on their way to your homes. :p
Opheliarose 4-03-03, 11:05 AM I tried it a couple of times when I was 14 years old, It didn't do anything to me and I was like Rhel, I didn't see what the big deal was all about. I was more of a drinker and now I don't do either. Personal Choice- When you begin to like something more than you should and that thing controls your life- Well let's just say I want my life back and now I have it.. :)
Interesting thread to say the least......
I followed The Grateful Dead on tour for a year during College. So you can only imagine how much I used to smoke . But, unfortunatley pot wasn't enough & I turned to bigger & harsher things.:( I don't blame that on pot though, I blame it on my social surroundings & myself. I would never look down on anyone for being a former pot smoker or even a current one. BUT, I finally grew up & got a grip on life & got clean. I have been pot-free ever since! :D
OK, now that you all know my life story!!! Who's next? ;)
andiegirl 6-14-03, 08:16 PM Andiegirl tried pot. Andiegirl got headache and said to hell with this, this does nothing for me. Then I stood up, and got giggly. I started show and telling the ashtray next to me, ate a boatload of bacos (a whole small bottle) and threw up.
That was the end of the great pot experiment. LOL
Glenn Gulia 3-01-04, 08:17 PM Marijuana whats that? :smoky: :mwaha:
Slayergrrl 3-01-04, 08:45 PM Wow!
Well, When i was a teenager there wasn't a day that went by when i wasn't on some substance. Where I hung out anything was available. Duting the late 80's early 90's when the Dead was in town. Damn, Good times. :)
Now i'm clean. Been clean for a long time. I'll have the occasional alcoholic beverage. But, i'm not against pot. Never will be.
I've never tried it, not even once.
Hardcore as a teen!!! But 4 some reasone when I hit 18 it just didnt work 4 me any more. I have dabbled with it thru the years . But gotta say no!!! :tsk:
Give me a bottle of RUM!!!! :bouncy: Sorry Pinky!!!! :dammit:

I dont like pot, never used it and I cant imagine I ever will.
ShattyMcPants 3-02-04, 05:23 PM I have to admit, I did some through out high school and in my 20's. Not all the time but when we all went out I did. We had a name for it "wax" You would ask you friends if they had any "wax" and if they "wanted to wax the car" We had a kid who could make anything with aluminum foil.
I would not wax the car now. :)
 .....Wax on......Wax off.......
Brand1974 3-02-04, 08:15 PM Did it a few times in High School. First time I got high, I smoked a whole blunt to myself. My friends kept saying "You are going to be so baked" and damn if I wasn't. Being at Denny's was pretty damn funny afterwards as this was in the early morning. I did it quite a few times my senior year, and probably did it once at the age of 20, but haven't touched it since.
I don't smoke cigarettes either.
ValleyGirl 3-03-04, 07:06 AM Mari-what??? I don't know what you're talking about
*Taz takes the bong from V.G.* Psssst.... I'll stash it behind the couch sweetie!
:p
Regularly when younger, none now :p
galaga-girl 3-26-04, 05:58 AM When I was 14 I used to use "dope" quite a fair bit, with friends mostly on weekends and at parties, but then one day I woke up and thought "this is stupid!" and I just stopped. I stayed friends with all of them but the sad thing is is that most of them still do it now and have just wasted their lives.
I do not believe it should be legalized! One of my sisters is terribly addicted to it, and yes you CAN get addicted to it. They are just like cigarettes and alcohol - ALL BAD! Her habit costs her over $300 a week and she has a baby to look after - it is terrible stuff.
Bon Jovi 3-31-04, 02:56 AM I've Never Tried it & I'll never Will.
PontiacKendall 4-05-04, 02:02 PM I tried it a little in High School but quickly stopped for personal reasons. My friends continued to use it but I didn't hold it against them and they didn't hold it against me that I stopped.
From my personal experiences, I would have to agree with some of the others that said alchohol is probably more dangerous than pot. I've never seen a survey in regards to how dope physically impairs someone but I do know that all it did to me was make me feel more outgoing and when it wore off there wasn't a 'recovery' period. Alchohol on the other hand always made me feel sick and lethargic afterwards which impaired by ability to function, even though at the time I thought I functioned just fine. That was a very dangerous state of mind for me and I'm very fortunate to still be here talking about it today.
BlueMolly2001 6-27-04, 04:49 AM I've never tried it, but I've had thoughts about trying it. My Dad smoked it when he was very ill to help the pain.
SouthernImage 6-27-04, 06:12 PM I like my natural high now. Use to do it in my late teens. It never really did anything for me except make me horny and sleepy. ( I can do that on my own).
BlueMolly2001 6-27-04, 07:40 PM The closest I've ever came on being high is when I went to The Who concert in 80 at Rich Stadium. The wir was so thick with pot smoke I think I got high via second hand pot smoke. I know this is because the next day I woke up with a horrible hang over.
PunkyPower 6-27-04, 08:54 PM I've tried it a few times, but didn't like it enough to keep doing it. Besides, I went to Michigan State and all you had to do was walk past certain dorms to get a high.
I know some guys who smoke every day, but they still manage to hold down good jobs and stuff. I don't understand that. I guess it affects everybody differently.
redhotchilipapa 7-18-04, 12:39 PM I attribute pot to my success today. I haven't smoked any in years, but it was the only thing that got me through high school!(BORING) I cut back during college(only on the weekends). And was permanently stoned during my 2 two years of Culinary School. :smoky: I quit because near the end all it would do was put me to sleep. Then I found Tequila and I've been on that nipple ever since!!! :mwaha:

Did you ever make some of those "special" brownies to share with the class?
redhotchilipapa 7-18-04, 01:21 PM We made alot of "SPECIAL" recipes including Anthony's famous "Doobie Pesto" and My "Budnana Bread" :mwaha: :mwaha:

I'm 42 years old and I tried it last night for the first time. I wont be trying it again. I can not understand how someone can go to school in that state....I could just about remember how to talk!! I'm not anti drugs, so don't get me wrong, it's a free world and I've seen lots of people who's life's have been destroyed with drug or alcohol but.. I think I'll stick to beer. I felt a fool..silly.. maybe Im getting to old,but before I criticise someone I try to understand the WHY.! I'm still none the wiser.
Black Oyster 7-18-04, 05:28 PM Marijuana, marijuana
LSD, LSD
Scientist make it
Teachers all take it
Why can't we? Why can't we?
I did it fairly regularly for a period of, uh, oh man, I forgot how long, man. LOL Probably three or four years. Basically, I just got tired of it. I think it should be totally legal, because the drug that the sophistos in the government prefer, alcohol, is legal, and causes so much more damage than marijuana ever did. It's all about personal responsibility. If you can't handle a substance, and choose to ingest it, then you're a fool and you have no one to blame but yourself. People smoke pot and get mellow. They don't have wrecks, because they're driving five miles an hour. They don't get into fights, because they just want to chill. They don't come home high and beat their wives and molest their kids. They just want to eat and sleep. So, if alcohol is legal, marijuana should be too.
DJ Midas 7-22-04, 05:21 PM It's 4:20 somewhere... :D
Eh, I've had more now than then.
Coincidentally...now listening to C&C's "Take A Toke".
Xcess-N-Htown 7-22-04, 06:37 PM Make it legal and all the money saved from busting people, court costs, and jail fees, could be spent on educating young people of the dangers of drugs and alchohol. The moral majority shouldn't be making all the rules for the minority to follow. I smoked and sold when I was younger, but haven't touched in 10-15 years. Dont' find it amusing anymore.
Sonny Crockett 8-17-04, 06:35 PM I didin't inhale though !....Yeah I did....But I didn't like it....uh, thats a lie.
ElectricYouth 8-18-04, 01:14 AM Never done it, never plan on it. My brother's a pothead and has tried to get me to do it more than once though... :6ohboy:
PaperGirl 8-18-04, 03:25 PM Never did it when I was a teen, but I partake in the herb every once in a while now.
Although I do agree about this issue of legalization. Alcohol is so much more dangerous.
To quote Denis Leary..."What was the problem with just smoking a joint, eating a couple of Twinkies and going to sleep? Was that a problem? They say marijuana leads to other drugs, no it leads to ****ing carpentry!"
AngelicR 8-25-04, 05:40 PM I've never smoked anything in my entire life. I'm not joking either. I'm a goodie tooshoe when it comes to smoking and drugs. Have never tried and adimate to never do so!
Tanya1976 11-14-04, 01:09 AM Regularly when I was younger, but not now

Ummm dude.. The money made from "busting people, court costs, and jail fees" IS spent on educating young people about drugs. That money also goes to schools and other positive uses. The only people "saving" money is people doing drugs.
I think the point you meant to make was that. The government should start selling pot and put taxes on it. Thats the only way the government can make money off of leagalization. That is.... if the tax money equals more thean the fines. Im sure it does
Im gonna be honest with you. I smoke pot everyday. Smoking is fun
Its hard to believe there isnt more potheads on this site
I find it dissapointing that there are so many people talking trash about pot smokers.
Not everyone who gets high are lazy poor people with no futures. Ive smoked quite often since freshman year in high school. Eventhough I was an everyday pot smoker I still managed to get a 3.8 GPA. Also I was on Lacross team for 2 years, Ski Team for 3 years (senior captain). Currently Im in school working on a music major to add on to my minor in computer sciences.
Pot effects different people in different ways. IMO, the more you smoke it, the more you adapt to being high. I dont get nearly as high as I used to, I dont think I would want to be.
And only chumps spend money the "worked" for on weed. I have a job and dont spend 1 dime on marijauna yet I smoke everyday. I have more possesions then the average 21 year old. Many of my friends are the same way as me. Successful potheads with jobs and good grades.
Ill never quit.
I will cut back though soon, for health reasons. Like, a few times a year or something. I dont even smoke ciggs, hate em. They dont even get you high
Here in the Netherlands it is legal to use it, so I think about everybody has tried it. So I did once and I got so sick that I will never again.
xistenza 2-03-05, 06:49 AM i don't like it at all. it makes me tired and paranoid.
Prefab Sprouter 2-03-05, 08:22 AM Nevr tried it and I dont think I ever will :D I prefer to get high more naturally!
This couple came into my shop one day with a faint scent of weed. At first, I thought it was some smell they picked up outside or at a bar. Then another day they came in REEKING of weed. They came in to tan and the tanning owner was standing there beside me. We were trying to contain our laughter. The best part is they don't look like the type that would get high. You know..preppy buisness people. You would think that they would have enough sense to roll the windows down some in the car when they light one up.
Caligula 2-20-05, 04:32 PM Thr telemarketers who work in my building have quite a few who partake in the herb, you see them every day during break time go into the woods like it's high school to take a little toke and get on the elevator reeking of weed... must make for an enjoable afternoon on the phones... no wonder the vending machines are always empty :D
willowbythesea 3-24-05, 07:04 PM Tried it about five times and it never did anything for me. I know a lot of people who did and do. Even parents who smoke it with their kids. I don't think it's the 'devil's tool' either, nor do I judge those who take it. My best friend swore she would kill me if I ever tried the stuff and although I'm fairly confident I could talk my way out of it, I figured if someone cares that much about me the least I can do is not go near the stuff. My friends who smoke it accept my choice.

And they get away with this at work? Kind of a liberal work place huh?
BrownEyedGirl 3-25-05, 08:33 AM Never tried it and never will. I was tempted a few times in high school but never did.
sean85zx 3-25-05, 09:10 AM I'm with browneyed on this... only i was never tempted. Some kid that was friends with a friend of mine, tried pushing a bong on me that he made out of a coke can, when he wouldn't take no for an answer, i grabbed his hand that held the coke can, and crushed the can in his hand, breaking a few fingers and slicing him up pretty bad. Of course my friend was too stoned to care, he just told him "I warned you not to push him"
That's the only time I was ever offered.

80's fanatic 4-10-05, 09:15 PM I smoked a few joints in my time, but not on a regular basis. I tried my first one when I was 13 yrs. old. I didn't have another one until I was 20 yrs. old. I smoked a few joints until I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. I was so worried that I harmed my baby that I never smoked one again. It scared me so much I prayed during my whole pregnancy that my baby wasn't deformed. ( I smoked during the first trimester ) Luckily my daughter was o.k. I just pray that my daughter, now 15 yrs.old, doesn't follow in my footsteps.
Poindexter 5-10-05, 09:53 AM I never touched it until I was in college. Then it was quite frequently (at least once a week). I'll still do it on occasion at a party if someone offers and I'm not driving, but it's rare (maybe every six months to a year). I would never buy it again!
fungirl3 5-10-05, 10:21 AM You're not a cop, are you?
Jr. and Sr. year in high school was experimentation, after graduation I smoked a lot, like a few times a day! After I turned 21, I didn't have enough time for both booze and pot so I went with booze and mooch off others when someone has pot, but I haven't smoked in over four months.
I tried it during my university days and even after for a while. I didn't do it often but I did try it. I found it made me sleepy and hungry. If I'm going out with friends, I want to stay awake so I'd rather drink.
I did a lot in my high school years, now I do on a rare occasion.
misterE 10-17-05, 11:47 AM Only tried it a couple of times. Wasn't all that impressed.
I tried it a few times at college. I don't plan on using it again.
JeannieT 10-18-05, 12:16 AM Hey guys, I appolize, but I have to say it; I find it VERY DIFFICULT to believe that 50% of those who answered the poll have NEVER tried marijuana!
Personally, I have and still do. I was one of those who never smoked it as a teenager, but started when I was in my mid-twenties. I liked that I got the same feeling as I did when I drank, but I did not have any side effects. Admittingly, I still partake from time to time. It really helps to relax me when I am in pain, and allows me to get some sleep.
A good friend of mine once said, "God would not have put it on Earth if he didn't mean for us to use it."

phoenix_rising 3-12-06, 05:15 AM well when i was younger i would preach pot, but i eventualy wasn't the same and thus have quit a few times and for good a few years ago.......all though i'm thinking when i retire i might puff again........but now forget it, i turn into a crackhead.......(not literally) but basicall one hit and i'm a space cadet......long way from puff tuff...smokin till its gone!!
as far as it being bad for you, i've read a few studyies and other books on both sides and really its not bad...no perminant effects i believe...most things are myths...but some of the short term effects can lasts months....all and all great expeirence, just not for everyonne and not for everytime.
Not to mention Assault and battery charges against you. :6ohboy:

My choice was : Experimented as a Kid but never now
Does your 21st birthday count as a kid ?
I was totally wasted on my 21st b-day and tried pot for the 1st time !
It was ok but not my thing !
I had always liked my Rum so Ill stick with that !
My choice of bad things when I was a kid was a pack of Cigs and beer !
Now I do not smoke and I HATE beer !
6 Haunted Days 2-08-07, 08:13 AM The stuff is for crap. Just makes me tired, hungry and anxious. I tried it many many times. Different kinds. Not worth it. Rather take painkillers.
80s Queen 2-08-07, 12:23 PM I smoked it when I was younger, and liked it fine. The reason I don't do it now is because I take blood pressure meds, and I don't know what kind of reaction I would have to it. Do I put anyone down for doing it? No. My Husband still does it when we can afford it.The Government would like you to think that if you try it you will want to try other things. That's not true for all people. I never wanted to try anything harder. I liked it then, but I don't miss it now.
Caligula 2-08-07, 04:36 PM I wish I liked it, it has it's advantages over alcohol, no hangover , no acting stupid, too bad after the initial euphoria , it just makes me paranoid and depressed
80s Queen 2-09-07, 03:35 PM Yeh, I agree with you about no hangover. That was a good thing. I can't say I ever had a problem with paranoia, but I know that there are some people that have experienced that kind of thing.
Livinginthe80's 2-20-07, 07:21 AM Used to do it when i was on my way out to clubs in the 90's. I believe it to be responsible for some of the anxiety problems i have today. I know many young people who have ended up mentally ill after abusing the so-called soft drug. The only way i would go back to it would be if i had/ was dying of cancer. Wow what a hardcore topic this is 80's queen.
Livinginthe80's 2-20-07, 07:31 AM Sorry Caligula and 80s Queen my mistake. Gee i must've lost more brain cells than i realised. It was the dope, dope did this i tell you lol:duh:

A good friend of mine once said, "God would not have put it on Earth if he didn't mean for us to use it."
Did your friend ever stop and think that perhaps God created it for…temptation? :tsk: Hell, we went and ate that friggin’ apple that we weren’t supposed to. Hey, you think Adam and Eve ate the apple BECAUSE of pot? Yeah, that’s it, they puffed a fatty and had the munchies; since the Doritos were all gone…”Yo, Eve, grab us one of those apples, would ya, babe?”:rollin:
