Fashion that inspired wannabe's..well, there's that line in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"..Stacey says to Linda.."Look, that girl looks just like Pat Benatar"..that inspired me to bring up this subject. Girls adopting "The Pat Benatar Look".(Spandex, spandex, spandex)..then there's "The Madonna Look"..(Bracelets, bras, bustiers, and tons of lace).."The Michael Jackson Look"(the Jacket!oh, yeah and one glove)..the "Don Johnson Look"(pastels on guys)..can anyone think of more?

Thanks to Cory Hart everyone wore their sunglasses at night!! The Madonna look was too overpowering, too much! I didn't mind the Don Johnson look, back then! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

There were people who dressed like Boy George, Adam Ant, & when glam broke, everyone claimed to be a "headbanger". To me, there is nothing sexier than a guy w/long hair, tattoos, & dressed to kill! YUM!

Do you remember that Bruce Springsteen "Born in the USA" phase? Lots of guys I knew were doing the jeans with denim shirt and red handkerchief in the back pocket thing. I do have to admit, though, that I did have the white lenin Don Johnson "Miami Vice" suit! Other than that I could never afford to be too fashionable!

Oh I agree Gunner Girl, give me a guy with long hair, tattoos and attitude (throw in a guitar) and I'm hooked http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

How about those Cindy Lauper wannabee's?
I used to colour my hair orange and dress in lots of vintage layers for Halloween http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey. I had the pink shirt look for a few months. That was Don Johnson? I didn't know.. I had hair almost to my shoulder when that was the phase... It fit in pretty well back then. I didn't feel funny or anything either.. It still beats a lot of today's styles, I think...

Now gime me a girl in tight jeans and boots and I'm hooked. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/wink.gif I had real long hair back then. Speaking of tattoos, I got one back in 90 when I had just turned 18. It goes from over my shoulder down to my elbow and my mother saw just the edge of it sticking out from under my shirt. When she lifted up my shirt sleeve she freaked! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif We still talk about that day sometimes. I guess I had the rock look. Jeans and usually a dark T-shirt. I still wish they had Headbangers ball on MTV. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/frown.gif

The Metal Look. Especially when it became "Hair" for lack of a better term. Brought out a lot of Posers.

I remember in the 5th grade, the "new girl" came to school dressed like Madonna. The rest of us dorks stood there in our turtlenecks and ribbon barrettes, totally awestruck. She wore the lace gloves with the tips cut off to school, along with ankle boots and lacy tights and ruffly skirts. There's no way my mom would have let me dress like that outside the house unless it was Halloween.

We had another kid who people called Boy George. He didn't have braids and really didn't look like George, but he was kind of effeminate, wore eyeliner and LOTS of gel in his hair, and in my small town that meant you were weird. Nice kid, I wonder whatever happened to him.
