80s girls... Just what is it about an 80s girl that is so appealing to me? Whenever I watch an 80s video, movie or tv show, I find myself waxing nostalgic about teenaged girls in the 80s. What exactly did they possess that made them so darn appealing? Was it the clothes? The makeup? The hairdo? The attitude? Any comments from former 80s boys (or girls as well)???

ok...uh...ginger? nutmeg? Pomegranate?! lol

Anyway, like all things 80's, it was just the atmosphere at the time...life just had a whole different aura to it back then than it does now...the women like the music, movies, et al were/are just special

ally sheedy. thanks.
i remembered soon after i posted that. (how could i forget?!

i was in Atlanta, sneaking into clubs, underage, when poor Rob Lowe got caught with that girl. She was in a 21-or-over club. i was so pissed off at her for telling anyone about Rob. She lied about her age to him, I'm sure. I just felt bad for him. (yea, like no other actor would want to be with 2 women at once.) it wasn't like she was 14. she was Atleast 18, i think.

arrgh. (had to vent)

Vilji I'm with you on this one! I was pissed off about it too - never have understood this whole "kiss'n'tell" thing.... Then again I'm a very private person so it would freak me out

Of course she lied about her age....I mean what famous person in his or her right mind would go for a minor? And erhm...what?? How old do you have to be in the US to engage in sex (legally that is..hehe)? In Denmark it's 15....

I think some guys like girls of the 80's because it was a very "girlie" era! The big hair styles, big jewelry and the fashion trends were more feminine for girls (and some guys). It seems like when the 90's hit the styles got into the grunge look which for a girl is kinda masculine and sloppy.(Sheesh I hope I dont offend anyone, just a thought.) It looks like the 00's might be getting better fashion wise. I like the mix of the 70's and 80's styles that are back in now. The 90's fashions just were not for me.

It wasnīt not only for their looks (although I have to admit that some of the ladies were dressed in a style I had to call the lifeguards not to drown in my own drool... ), but also for the fact that...well, me for example was a teen in the 80s and discovering that there were more interesting things besides of video arcades, mopeds and even music (although THAT was a kinda hard decision sometimes )...
And so, recalling some first encounters on the other gender...yup, that makes them and their looks sure appealing.

I have to agree with Imsoosure...today, the girls either looks like Tank Girl, totally sloppy or like, ahem...I simply canīt understand that Britney-Girlie look.

Girls of the 80's had this whole attitude thing going' on!! Plus ya didn't have to worry about all the stuff like STD's; and AIDS was there but ya never knew anyone that had it!! Honestly I think things in the 90's were way too structured!! Afterall in the 80's girls just wanted to have fun!!

As a teen 80's girl I just remember that we were horrified with everything that resembled the 60's and 70's.We wanted everything to look clean and shiny and sexy. Big hair looked good because it looked clean and fresh after stringy 70's styles.
We were sexier because we had a new sense of power that the prior generation of girls did not have. They were relegated to becoming house wives and mothers. We could be anything we wanted and knew it so we had more confidence.

I AGREE! It wasnt like it is today... In the 80s it was all about "fun" fashions, "fun" music, being "your own person", not being like everyone else! At least thats the way I seen it.

ITA, Heavenly... 80s girls (and boys for that matter) had a wider variety of styles and cliques to choose from, whereas today, most of the young people look like clones to all of the others. I miss that variety, dammit!!!

I totally agree with that! I loved lots of different styles of the 80's. Everything from the metal look to the new wave look and big hair to wild colored clothing. It was all cool!

and look what happens as the young people are discouraged to express themselves, uniquely or not as they want:

guns and medal detectors in schools. not to mention scared teachers and angry parents.

I saw a young girl the other day (about 14 years old), who was wearing a Swatch Watch and jelly bracelets! I was like.. "Whoa girl! Where did you get that stuff?" and she said that her mother was way into the 80s and she was liking the styles for herself! I just smiled real big and showed her the Swatch that I was wearing at the time, (I won a few on ebay that I wear constantly), and she smiled back... it was an 80s moment!

I play 80's whenever I have any of my nephews or nieces over....gotta try and instill some 80's in 'em somehow while they're young

I guess there was no one thing that made 80's girls so incredibly hot...the clothes...the attitude...the hair...the makeup...Why did things have to change?!? (fashion is a cruel mistress,eh?)

Do you wear all of your Swatches at the same time, Tinajo. I used to wear three on one wrist and two on the other!

80s fashion was totally fun. even though i was pretty young in the 80s, i remember going to school with giant madonna bows in my hair and billions of jelly bracelets up my arms. my friend and i used to wear the little lace gloves with the fingers cut off too! (i was like 10 yrs old, so that makes it even more funny).

but, even today, i incorporate bits of 80s fashion and style into my wardrobe and overall look. i dress kind of minimalist, with a splash of 80's color & fun.

i'd be very upset if someone took my crimper and jelly bracelets from me! *lol*
