Hope you don't mind when I post stuff I am working on for my book....

I began my Groupie experiences where a lot of the girls back then struggled very hard to end up....and consequently I really had no where to go but down!
Jimmy Page was my first. I was only 16 years old and I had ROCKs in My Head...and
STARs in My Eyes!

It all began at a Jeff Beck show at the Filmore East in NYC. I had front row tickets to both shows that night. Never in my entire life had I ever heard anything like Jeff. His guitar touched my very soul where nothing had ever been before and I was totally mesmerized by him almost like I was in a trance. I swore I actually saw sparks fly from his fingers as he played! I felt terrified of the feelings I was having. He was leading me somewhere with his music, I felt myself falling...going to places I never knew existed and then he would snap me back by changing his direction and play with my mind. It was a cosmic connection I was experiencing and it was so strong I was drained and exhausted when the first show was over. I knew though, that something powerful had happened to me, and yes...I fell in love with him before the second show.

Thanks for sharing that Josette. My first really big concert experience was way up in the back row with a bunch of friends for a Rush concert in Vancouver - the music was amazing but I was too far away to get a real connection with the group. Now Honeymoon Suite on the other hand and Glass Tiger we followed all over Ontario and they were like a drug for me - never had the guts to approach Johnnie though as much as I would have liked to. A friend of mine got to be good friends with them and through their connections she got into a really good record producing direction http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

I remember Rush....they were just a bit like Deep Purple right?

I don't know if I could compare Rush with another sound. Theirs is as distinct as Boston, Doors, ZZTop, Styx etc etc - you know when you hear the first note of a song and you just know by instinct that its this particular band. Well Rush does that for me and I'm also a bit biased here because they are a Canadian band and Geddy Lee has a summer cottage (basically a shack lol) outside my hometown http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

For some reason I think of then as the same type band as Deep Purple and Uriah Heep...maybe its the singers voice and they havr keyboards too right?

Josett,

RUSH is a three piece outfit from Canada that can only be compared to Deep Purple or Uriah heep in their ability to experiment with differing styles, though I say this without too much Knowledge of heeps material.

You would probably be familiur with songs like:

The Spirit of Radio
Tom Saywer
Freewill
Limelight
Closer to the Heart

Unfortunatly, the songs listed above are the only songs most people are familiur with due to limited air play on the major radio stations. I think every one on this board knows where I'm comin' from about that.

Zel may be biased because she is Canadian, but I'm twice as fanatical because I'm a fan!
