What are some of your pet peeves (what annoys you)? Some of mine are: people talking on cell phones while driving, driving down the road with your blinker on, and a cluttered coffee table.

Jazzmyn 10-12-01, 05:08 AM My biggest one is a messy desk area at work. lol I work with mostly guys and they are just pigs at times. Always cleaning things up after them!! Going to kill then one day for it. Also hate people who are constantly late for things. Sure there are more, but those are the main 2 I have. lol :) Zel 10-12-01, 05:12 AM I hate answering personal phone calls (and there's lots) for my co-worker when she has her own extension and then gets upset because she's way behind in her work. I hate a book being treated with disrespect, messy bedrooms (parent territory here). I hate clutter and I hate computers being ripped apart on my dining room table :) Yadda yadda yadda - exactly what Iluv said :) ImSoooSure 10-12-01, 06:20 AM The cell phone thing in general is a pet peeve. In restaurants, in cars, in the middle of converstaions.... People who let their kids rule the roost! I can't stand it when people come into my store with their kids and have NOOOO idea how to discipline them. They tell them not to do something and the kids go right on doing it and the parents just give in and let them. I end up disciplining them and I hate doing it. Of course if I dont and they get hurt in the store I get sued!!! morningmyst 10-12-01, 06:26 AM Originally posted by ImSoooSure: People who let their kids rule the roost! I soooo hate that! People come into the clinic with their children, and leave them in the lobby while they go into the exam room with the vet. Ummm....HELLO???? I'm not a baby-sitter...if You want me to watch your brats, you better pay me extra!  TopCat 10-12-01, 09:12 AM Originally posted by Mystie*: Oohhhh! I soooo hate that! I have one child , blonde hair ,blue eyes and freckles. Anyone interested?? LOL I got many more pet peeves but I wouldn't want you all to know how freaky I am! :p LOL Caligula 10-12-01, 09:42 AM probably mean, but one pet peeve of mine is a mob of kids in front of me at convience stores , buying candy, they've always got something like 41 cents and are asking how many of these can I get, okay put this back, what can I get now, I'll get 4 of those nonono 3 of those and 1 of these. They're always there I think they take shifts and wait for me to show up TopCat 10-12-01, 09:45 AM Originally posted by caligula: probably mean, but one pet peeve of mine is a mob of kids in front of me at convience stores , buying candy, they've always got something like 41 cents and are asking how many of these can I get, okay put this back, what can I get now, I'll get 4 of those nonono 3 of those and 1 of these. Meanie! :p But you are right! LOL Pagan 10-12-01, 10:19 AM My pet peeve stems from the teenagers, mostly those with with what I call the "Snoop Dogg" syndrome, crossing the street in front of my car and slowing down while glaring at me so they can look "cool" in front of their "beeyotches". In the Saturn there's nothing I can do because the car has no intimidation factor, but once when I was in my 'Cuda a kid did that and I had just about had enough. I held the brake down and jammed the accelerator to the floor, smoking the tires and raising the back end of the car a few inches in the process. The engine was screaming! You had to see that little shit move then! In general though, my pet peeve is the total lack of respect todays' kids have for anyone older than them. I remember when I was a kid, if I screwed around with any of the older kids and they pushed me around, my Dad would whack me one for being stupid enough to screw around with the older kids! Goddess Forbid if i ever wised off to an adult, my Pop would have tanned my hide! Kids today, they don't care about that at all, mostly because their parents aren't around much to discipline them anyway. I'd like to change my original answer to agree with Pagan Shakey 10-12-01, 11:12 AM Oh boy! Did you ever open up a can of worms with this one... Here goes: Shakey's Pet Peeves: Slackers at work. I'm not paid to do my job and yours! Personal calls at work. Ain't the place. People who call in sick just to take a day off. Whiners. "Would you like some cheese with that whine?" People who drive slow in the fast lane. People who park in handicap spaces and aren't. People who talk during movies. Hmmm. Guess that's enough. I'm really an easy-going person though. :D Mary 10-12-01, 12:05 PM I'll only give one... for a generally laid-back person, I am in a complaining mood today :D People who go straight out of a turn-only lane, for the express purpose of cutting in line in front of the people who are in the proper lane. Or, people who turn right out of a left turn only lane, for example. Causes a lot of accidents at the interstate exit ramp right outside my office! Bogie 10-12-01, 12:15 PM There is one driving peeve that I see a lot up here. People who miss the left turn lane and then sit in the fast lane with their indicator on until they can squeeze into the left turn lane. Holding up an entire lane of traffic because THEY missed a turn. Inconsiderate. If you miss your turn, go to the next light and turn around please. Tinajo 10-12-01, 12:58 PM Gosh! These are all great!! Pagan... I am sick of those teenagers that walk slowly in front of my car too.. I swear one of these days, I'm gonna end up just plowing into one and get vehicular manslaughter! I also can't stand it when I am trying to talk to a customer or take optical measurements and they answer their cell phone and talk.. then I have to sit there quietly.. doing basically NOTHING while they are doing their business or talking to a friend! My work is very busy... I usually have about 6 customers waiting for me at a time.. so it pisses EVERYONE off... not just myself. And I hate it when I am talking to a foreign customer.. and they start talking to their spouse in their language right in front of me... excluding me from the conversation on purpose! Like I said, I'm a busy person and don't have time for such nonsense. Open soda cans in the refrigerator at work. If I see them... they get pitched and I could care less who's feelings I hurt! It's just messy and irresponsible.. It sucks cleaing gooey syrup out of the bottom of the fridge when they spill all over the place. That's all of them for now... I, like Topcat, am going to stop before you guys think me more of a freak than you already do! ;) wavemaster 10-12-01, 03:00 PM Originally posted by Pagan: My pet peeve stems from the teenagers, mostly those with with what I call the "Snoop Dogg" syndrome, crossing the street in front of my car and slowing down while glaring at me so they can look "cool" in front of their "beeyotches". Goddess Forbid if i ever wised off to an adult, my Pop would have tanned my hide! Kids today, they don't care about that at all, mostly because their parents aren't around much to discipline them anyway. In general, I´m agreeing here. Respect seems to be just a word of an extraterrestric language which more and more people doesn´t understand anymore. And this is not only including kids (which I can halfway understand...can´t deny I was also a kid once ;)), but disrespect becomes some kind of attitude today. In Germany, we´re telling apart the adress in 'Du' (you) and 'Sie' (Sir/Ma'am, roughly translated - adressing someone is one of the main difficulties in the German language for foreigners!). I´m feeling kinda pissed when I´m asking a store clerk for something (with the 'Sie', of course)...and he adresses me in a kind of more intimate way with 'Du', although I don´t know him and he don´t know me. For me, it sounds like "Hey...are you really bugging me with your stupid question? Buy something or get lost...you´re annoying me with your presence". I can go on with more examples, but like TC said...guess you already think I´m a freak. :p For pedestrians who think they can have a break in front of my car...I don´t mind another dent in my hood. :D ValJ 10-12-01, 06:36 PM OK, I agree with all of that. I'm adding the 'farting through a tuba' cars that go up and down the street all day (and at 1:25 a.m. last night, dammit). What the hell? If you're at a concert or a party, more power to you, but if you wanna be deaf, get some dang-blasted headphones all-damn-ready! I don't like rap music, so I don't need to hear your radio OUTSIDE when I'm at the other end of my house! I don't mind loud music, but what is with hearing nothing but the bass beat? And leaning over in the middle of the seat so only the top of your dumbass head shows? No wonder they wreck so much, old ladies can see better. Sorry, venting.... That's the only one I'm adding, I think the others are obsessive compulsive disorders. :D Zel 10-12-01, 06:50 PM I agree with Shakey: People who call in sick for a day off drives me nuts. Or using their kids to get a day off. We're pretty accommodating at work but some like to take it to the extreme. One of my nurses always whines she doesn't get enough hours so I bend over backwards to get her some extra shifts within limits and she calls in sick when she knows we need her the most. Usually a friday right after a big mobile when we can get nobody! We have a total slacker at work but her mother is very good friends with the manager so... she is on the phone constantly with personal calls, calls the radio station constantly for contests and requests - I'd love to have time to listen to the radio at work. I've said something to her and she improves for a bit but than 2 weeks later she is back at it  Teenagers!! *think the nobelt, show the boxers, diaper pants look is cool. * break stands in shitty cars on our street *thinking EVERYONE wants to listen to their crappy music *cigarette butts and liter everywhere *bad customer service. Feel lucky you have a job you losers... LOL - forgive me for going off on a rant its Friday :) Ted Nugent 10-12-01, 07:15 PM Originally posted by topcat1970: I got many more pet peeves but I wouldn't want you all to know how freaky I am! :p LOL Oh do tell. :) Why wasn't I one of your pet peeves? :( lol I hate it when people exspect things from me. Zel 10-12-01, 07:24 PM Ted sweetie I hate to break it to you but the older you get the more that will be expected from you LOL ;) Ted Nugent 10-12-01, 07:53 PM :) lol depends on what's expected..... Iluvthe80s 10-12-01, 08:32 PM Another pet peeve of mine: People who live in apartments that turn their bass all the way up on their stereos so you can hear it thumping into the apartment below them. That is what my neighbor used to do every Friday night with her rap music. I couldn't even enjoy watching TV without hearing the constant thumping. Roemello 10-12-01, 08:46 PM Originally posted by Iluv80s: Another pet peeve of mine: People who live in apartments that turn their bass all the way up on their stereos so you can hear it thumping into the apartment below them. I had to deal with that damn near my entire life except for me, it was mostly spanish music (grew up in a predominately Dominican neighborhood) :p Not only that, but they put the TV through their sterio so I could hear every car crash from above.. Words can't describe how happy I am to no longer have to deal with that anymore :D Iluvthe80s 10-12-01, 11:13 PM Originally posted by Roemello: OH MY HEAD!! I'm in a predominately Mexican neighborhood. So, all you hear is Tejano and Spanish music all the time. When I was growing up though, I was fortunate enough to live in a house. Vilji 10-13-01, 02:21 AM i can't stand bullies. to me they are the worst cowards. Zel 10-13-01, 02:28 AM Well I still love the Gypsy kings but thank god I don't have to listen to them blasting 24/7. I remember thinking when I was about 16 that I couldn't wait to move out so I could blast my music as loud as I wanted all the time. That is so funny now because its totally opposite. ImSoooSure 10-13-01, 06:46 AM Wow, I am sooo glad to know I'm not the only one who gets treated rude at work. Another pet peeve I thought up is when people walk into my sotre and I say hi and they totally ignore me. I have a policy of saying it over and over and over again until I get a response. Rude people! I have heard that in France when people enter a store they treat it like the persons home. They greet the shop owner/employee and actually treat the items in the store with respect. It's hard to imagine this being true but it sure sounds nice! :) TopCat 10-13-01, 09:35 AM Originally posted by ImSoooSure: [QB]Wow, I am sooo glad to know I'm not the only one who gets treated rude at work. This reminded me of a HUGE pet peeve! I really hate when I run into a customer outside of the shop (when I am off) and they ask me, if I have any appoitments open for either tanning or a haircut? I don't even get a "hi" it's right away, "what do you have open for such and such day?" How the fluck do I know?? I don't carry my fluckin' appoitment book with me wherever I go!!! You stupid waste of brain cells!! :D WOW!! I fell better! :p Nice to get that off my chest. Did I mention Ted as a pet peeve? LOL :p Caligula 10-13-01, 10:48 AM I hate it when people pull the old race card issue and run to the new media every time someone is arrested or does'nt get a job or a contract etc. Yes I know it does happen sometimes, but I'll let you all in on a little secret. " there are actually some criminals in prison of various minority groups that are bad and really did do it, they are guilty" I'll even go out on a limb and say OJ was really guilty Bogie 10-13-01, 11:04 AM Originally posted by topcat1970: I really hate when I run into a customer outside of the shop (when I am off) and they ask me, if I have any appoitments open for either tanning or a haircut? That's a specific example of a general condition TC. And I hate it too. Many people are only concerned about what you can do for them. Little else enters their minds. That's why I like to take shelter here. :) djdaffy1227 10-13-01, 07:35 PM I hate people who ask me what my pet peeves are...LOL :D j/k this was a fun topic to read, when I think of some of mine I'll let you know.
