My online radio station is almost on air. I had thought of calling it "80sxchange" but it has more then just 80s tracks (even though the 80's make up a large majority of tracks in the playlist). Currently the Station's name is "NW Rock" It will play music from the late 60's to today. I'm still working out a way to rebroadcast Daffy's Hott80s radio show. I will probably use my laptop to record the show for air on the station.

Currently the library features Pop tracks from the 80s and of course THOUSANDS of Metal songs from the 70's and 80s (Leftovers from my Metal Shop show). You "non-metalheads" fear not, I'm working on adding more pop songs as well. Metal Shop may make a new entrance on the station if I can work out the time to put it together.

Keep an eye on this thread for future developments.

It's been running since about 9 PM my time last night, so far working without a problem!

I use SAM Broadcaster to control the station. I can go manually or (as it is now) auto mode.

BTW the Station's Website is also online (Albeit not quite finished...but functional) at http://nwrock.000space.com.

I've decided to run the station during limited hours. Mainly cause I can't look at Youtube videos or do much of anything else while SAM is running without it effecting the stream.

So Station hours are gonna be:
Sun-Sat: 8:30 AM - 9:00 PM PDT
(Those of you on the east coast, that's 11:30 AM - Midnight)

The Station will go into Shutdown mode beginning April 2nd 2009 at about 4:00 AM.

Off Air: SUN-SAT 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM PDT. These are the hours it has the least listeners anyway!

Brian, for some reason, I can't get the station to work. I tried both on the website and on Winamp. It says it's connecting to data, but it never connects.

Christine had the same issue. Go to the stream server's site at http://nwrock.listen2myradio.com.

Let me know if it works then. If not it may be my ISP...if that's the case I'll have to scrap the whole station.

I'm working grave shift tonight, the station will be streaming while I'm at work, and I'll check this thread again in the morning. Then decide from there what to do.

So Station hours are gonna be:
Off Air: Friday through Tuesday 8:30 AM-3:30 PM PDT (11:30 AM-6:30 PM EDT)
Should be on air all day Wednesday and Thursday (my days off from my real job)

This is so I can shut down my PC (Which the station resides on) and conserve a bit on my power bill and system hardware LOL! Besides these are the hours with the least amount of listeners! (Yes I can track how many peeps tune in)

I'll probably be fine tuning the hours on Wednesday and Thursdays. I've never intended this station to run 24/7, but want to make sure it's on air when most people tune in!

I'm going for the "Mixed bag" of songs. Something for everyone. NW Rock used to be strictly metal. But that severely limited my playlist for the station. This way I have a wider selection and a bigger appeal as my demographic is larger.

Your April Fools Special is gonna air in just over two hours Dan! Took me a few hours last night to convert the show to MP3, but it was well worth it!

Chooch and I will be out of state from This upcoming Wednesday to the following Wednesday. During that time, NW Rock will be offline as I will not be here to monitor the computer/station

I learn something new everyday...If I put SAM on mute, I can watch Youtube vids, Tune in to Daffy's Show, etc. without it effecting the stream... For those of you who like my station, but not the hours, this presents good news. The station will air 24 hours a day starting Monday's at 3:30 PM PDT (6:30 PM EDT) until Friday's at 11:00 PM PDT (2:00 AM EDT). Weekends it will air from 8:30 AM PDT (11:30 AM EDT) until 11:00 PM PDT (2:00 AM EDT)

I'm putting the station on part time for a couple reasons:
1: It's severely draining my computer's Resources
2: Listenership has been at 0 so long it's not worth keeping it online full time.

So I do a couple requests shows on Mondays and Tuesdays, that is when it will be online.

and Tuesday at 9 PM (EDT) for 3 hours

Other then those times, it will be off air.

Also, Metal Shop is the only show in which my voice can be heard. The request shows I just put on people's requests, no talking. My Station's Mic doesn't work right, so I prerecord Metal Shop, on the laptop and transfer it to the station PC. The mic DOES work on the laptop.

Monday will have my normal request show at 9 PM Pacific, (12 AM Eastern), I won't be home to do a 9-12 Eastern Spot for memorial day, however, I will air an encore of metal shop on Tuesday as well at 9 PM Pacific, 12 AM Eastern) Immediately following the request show.

Metal Shop is prerecorded, all the shows will be put on CD as well for archiving purposes. If you are a real metalhead, the debut Metal Shop show will be a real treat!

I've had the station online for over 3 months now, and most of the time nobody tunes in. This is a big waste of resources on my computer. So effective friday, following metal shop, the station will be going offline for good.
