I hate to hear this news... both my mother and sister simply love Patrick and have been devastated by the news of his illness. I'll continue to pray for him...

I was afraid, when I heard it was pancreatic cancer, that this would be the result. He held on longer than I thought he might, and I really hope that he makes it at least through the holidays so that that time of the year doesn't become a commemoration of his passing.

His poor wife  What an awful thing to have to face, knowing...I don't know if it's the dreading it, or if it will be the actual passing that will be worse. I know from personal experience what it's like to see your husband fade away before your eyes. Larry recovered and with careful monitoring, is doing well today. She will not be that lucky with Patrick. I wonder if there will be a sense of relief in not seeing him suffer anymore.

Whatever the reality, I hope that their last few weeks and months together are incredible and paparazzi free, so that they can part with memories that are magical and sweet.

Freakin' sad.. F'ing cancer.. Un freaking real.. I don't care WHAT kind of experiments scientists need to do, we need to figure out how to produce new organs.. Cancer is just not a fair way to go.

Dealing with the illness is always worse than the actual passing. The death process will take only hours or days. The disease process can take months to years. Can you imagine watching someone suffer for a few years knowing that they are in pain and you can't do anything? And the end result will be death? Some people pray for it to be over sooner.

I wonder if there will be a sense of relief in not seeing him suffer anymore.
Yes. She will still be devastated, but that knowledge will ease some of her heartache.

Death is hardest on the people who live on after someone else. For the person themselves, it's usually a blessing. I've had patients tell me they're ready to go, so why doesn't God just take them?

Looks like this is a hoax folks. While patrick Swayze does have cancer he is not on his death bed.. The tabloids reported that he was dying this week.. Swayze just released this statement:
Swayze has just released a statement to clear up some of those false reports.

The 56 year-old says he has been spending time at home with his family for the holidays, adding that he's just finished work on his new FBI drama television series, The Beast.

Swayze says, "The only thorn in my side being that many tabloids have been consistently reporting lies and false information about me and those close to me."

He added that lately "they're reporting that I'm on my last legs and saying goodbye to my tearful family. Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease and from the moment I was diagnosed, I knew I was in for the fight of my life. It's a battle, and so far, I've been winning. I'm one of the lucky few that responds well to treatment."

I saw this in the National Enquirer and thought nothing of it. Then I read it here and figured it was correct. In ANY event - I'm REALLY glad to hear he's responding well to the treatments.. I hope he wins this battle...

I'm sorry to hear Swayze has cancer--and that he could be dying. :( :(

I hope that he is okay. Pancreatic cancer is a tough one...the unfortunate thing is that my instinct tells me that the news is somewhere in the middle, that he's probably got a little longer than it would seem but that it's still...
