I'm just curious to see who here is getting the new iPhone 3G on Friday? If I had the cash I would.

Starting tomorrow afternoon around noon or 1pm EST, TWiT Live is doing 36 hours of coverage from different stores that are selling the iPhone 3G. The first release is in New Zealand at 8am Friday, which is tomorrow at 1pm EST.

This is one of those cautionary things that I am afraid will turn into hidden fees, software issues, etc. that people who are taken in by shiny objects (like me!) should look out for.

You need to read the fine print on the $199 price, it's not necessarily $199, lots of strings there...

I've been listening to a lot of computer podcasts (mainly on TWiT (http://www.twit.tv), and the iPhone costs $199 to $299, but after the AT&T contract it'll cost about the same as the older iPhone. It's not totally Apple's fault, it's AT&T's fault for charging an arm and leg over their service. A lot of the podcasts I've heard are trashing AT&T and some are trashing Apple. Apple should have opened it up to other providers. IMHO, if you already have an iPhone don't waste your money.

Damn skippy I'm getting one! I have been holding off due to this release. My contract with Sprint is up in September so I will be switching to AT&T then. I'll just buy my iPhone and hang on to it til then.

Nope! Not a big fan of AT&T.. Gave up Nextel to go to Verizon and I couldn't be happier. No hidden charges, no dropped calls. A cute little red phone that works.. All I ask for in life really. :D :lol:

I got a Razor with my last At$T contract. It has the camera and other cool stuff. Yeah it looks nice but I could never get the pics off the phone onto my computer. Plus since I rarely made call, I was wasting money. Then I hit a rough time at work and missed two months of payment. Suddenly my bill goes to $300! Of course by then they turn it off and charge me an early termination fee. I call At&t to work out something. And they tell me, I need to pay it all and then maybe I can get the phone turned back on. So now my total is up to almost $600! I told the guy (who btw could not speak clear English) to shove the money up his ass.

I went and purchased a Go phone and took that sim card out and used it in my nice Razor phone. :D Works like a charm!! Only problem was I did not add any new minutes and now that sim card expired. I need to get a new sim card from the At&t store. Which also means a new phone number. :irked:

No way! An insignificant upgrade. I'll wait until 3.0 comes out..

I don't even have a cell phone...yet...LOL! ;) But I plan on getting a tracfone, I hope that it works well enough for me. :D
