View Full Version : Comedian George Carlin dies at the age of 71 JS 6-23-08, 02:04 AM http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25322638 Torchwood Fan 6-23-08, 02:30 AM This is totally sad. He was one of my favorite comics. I loved his "Seven Words" sketch and my favorite and I remember once in awhile is his take on stuff. RIP George. :bigcry: PG 6-23-08, 06:23 AM My eyes are still wet from tears. He will always be my favorite and he will be greatly missed. He was responsible for many belly aching laughs and the world will be alot less funny without him in it. RIP George Carlin....you were one of a kind. :( Pagan 6-23-08, 06:44 AM I don't even know what to say....celebrity deaths don't usually effect me personally. This one does. RIP George. You have no idea how you'll be missed. :( PG 6-23-08, 07:05 AM I feel the same way Pagan...I'm not usually this emotional when celebrities die either :( I dunno, I never saw him as a "celeb"....more like a real (hilariously funny) human being with whom I shared MANY MANY of the same opinions with. Dude111 6-23-08, 08:41 AM Very sad :( Jasper 6-23-08, 08:41 AM He'll be missed for sure. Groundbreaking work from the 70s and 80s that laid the foundation for what comedy is today. I didnt always LIKE all of his work, but he did always have an impact! RIP Rufus! Diofan 6-23-08, 08:43 AM Oh wow! Carlin never seemed "Celebrity" to me, he was more like your Funny pal! 2 of my favorite comedians are now gone, Kinison and Carlin! R.I.P. George and thank you for years of laughter! BrandyBlue 6-23-08, 09:27 AM Tim Russert and now George Carlin...this is turning out to be a cruel summer (not trying to make a joke here) for us all  Slayergrrl 6-23-08, 11:38 AM Holy $hit! He was the best! RIP Mr. Carlin. :( Damn  Torchwood Fan 6-23-08, 11:55 AM here is one of my favorite things George Carlin did. I still think of him when I complain about having too much stuff. MvgN5gCuLac Slayergrrl 6-23-08, 01:36 PM here is one of my favorite things George Carlin did. I still think of him when I complain about having too much stuff. MvgN5gCuLac I love that one too, Molly! TXSweet 6-23-08, 01:49 PM More AWESOME talent lost. One of my favorites ... like I've said before, they don't make entertainers like they used to ... he was one of the best & his talent will be missed. Tempest Frost 6-23-08, 02:41 PM So much loss lately. And Carlin was only 71! My dad is 70 and in better shape than I am. No kindding, he runs an hour every day! I think I'll give him a call. RIP George:rose: nolanbuc 6-23-08, 03:50 PM Wow, not since the death of Jack Benny has comedy lost such a pioneer. The man practically invented observational standup, and was a trail-blazer for free speech in comedy. Even those who aren't fans cannot deny the man's impact. RIP, George. 80sTrivia 6-23-08, 07:44 PM So sad to hear of George's passing. He was certainly a pioneer in the field of stand-up comedy and he will indeed be missed... :( Taz 6-23-08, 07:56 PM :( I was in total shock this morning when my homepage came up. We've lost a great talent today. He was truly a one of a kind. You will be dearly missed George, RIP. He was truely one of the very best. I had the good fortune to go and see him when he was here in Columbus in the early 90s. RIP George! You will be missed. |
