So sad to hear of Jim's passing. I remember watching him host the Kentucky Derby for many years... :(

Long before ESPN and other sports dedicated channels, Jim Mackay and the Wide World of Sports brought so many sporting events you'd never have a chance to see.

Some of the more memorable ones for me were:

Evil Kinival - Snake River and other jumps
Harlem Globe Trotter's
Taiwan Acrobats
Ice Barrell Jumping

Every Saturday Afternoon as a kid my father would watch Jim McKay and the Wide World of Sports, at first I was mad, as we only had 2 channels and the other one showed Bug Bunny GRRR. but later a lot of the events grew on me .

RIP MR McKay and thanks for the memories, you brought a innovative and quality show every Saturday long before the 24 hour cables stations, and for your reporting during the tragic Munich Games
