Ever sell or give something away, and then weeks, months, or even years later you're kicking yourself for getting rid of it? The eternal question: How do you know what to keep and what to get rid of? Never a satisfactory answer to that one, I'm afraid.

I NEVER get rid of anything... Might come in handy some day, I keep telling myself... Requires lots and lots of space though!

Great minds must think alike, Silverado, I've been telling my wife the same thing for years. "I'm going to need it some day", "You'll be glad I kept this stuff around, someday" Lots, and Lots of Space!!

I used to save everything also but I started running out of places to store things so last year I started selling it all on ebay, I'm due for another selling spree *lol*

The only thing I sold and regretted was my first guitar. Her name was Stephie. Yeah, she was nothing mroe than a classical Samick, but still, she was my first and I miss her. I learned the basics on that guitar. I also learned Wanted Dead Or Alive on her. I had to sell her so that I can afford an electric guitar. I'm happy with Yngwie now, but I still miss Stephie. I should have waited and saved up a bit more.

I regret getting rid of two things: first was my collection of 80's music magazines that I decided to throw away when I was about 18. Two was the saxophone and bass guitar I played in band in high school.

Somethings of mine were gotten rid of for me I once had nearly the complete collection (at the time anyway) of He-Man figures and most of the transformers.....worth a pretty penny these days....

I can't believe I got rid of my Def Leppard 'Hysteria' tape years ago! *somebody kick me!* I got 'The Vault' at the moment anyway. I still have every birthday card I ever got since my 1st! I also still have a lot of my old toys and teddies and dolls.

That's EXACTLY what I say! Cause I hate it when I'm looking for something and it's not there because I accidently threw it out

I usually clean out junk once a year and give some stuff to Goodwill. When it comes to childhood stuff, I can't let go of it.

I have certain things I keep that have good memories attached to them. Most of them are from my teen-age and college years though. Don't have much from my childhood.

Unless it has tremendous practical or sentimental value - it gets thrown out. Don't like clutter. There are some photographs I would be lost without and a few books. In general I don't have any problem discarding the odds and ends that accumulate. :)

Confirmed Pack Rat. I gave away my four poster bed when I moved. i was trying to be practical and boy do I regret it. I don't even know where that person is anymore.

I can't bear to throw out anything that is slightly sentimental. Half my basement is banker boxes of my special things.

My husband is the total opposite. He has maybe one small box he saves and its usually last years receipts and taxes. Good more room for my stuff :)

I can´t say that I´m hanging my heart on things that much, except for music - I would rather hunger than selling a single CD or record, although some of them are pure crap... ;)

Wait - I miss all my cars I had to abandon in the 80s, for most of them were rusty clunkers. But, they had some kind of personality, not to mention some good reminders which I won´t specify now... :D

Me too Roem. I am a true pack rat. I live in AZ now, but have a house full of stuff in KY (not to mention a house) that I cannot force myself to part with. Even have a motorcycle parked in my kitchen. :D

:D My friends and I would get together on Fridays nights and have "Polishing" parties. 3 bike's in the kitchen, chrome polish on the floor and beer in the fridge. Then on Saturday we would get up early and take off riding all day. Good times. :) And oddly enough, Not Man, we would often listen to Judas Priest while doing it.

I think it depends a lot on what we're talking about. I keep all my letters (nowadays whern everybody sends emails it's just no fun) and I even have a couple of the notes that we used to pass around during class. Things with sentimental value I keep. I've kept some of my coolest outfits even though I don't fit in them anymore (either hoping that someday I will or that someday I can pass them on to my totally cool 80s-loving daughter :D). To find out if I'll miss something I pack it away and put it in storage. If ½-1 year later I haven't missed it - out it goes. I still have most of my childhood toys and books as I want to pass them on to my children or my nieces and nephews some day. I try not to get too attached to THINGS because it would be devastating to lose it all in a fire or so. Shit happens after all....
