The big change is I was finally able to find a nail tech! Which in turn forced me to redo the shop.

As many remember from the pics I posted, my shop was a purple shade. I decided about 6 months ago to change the color. I have been kinda putting it off because I hate to paint and the shop walls are huge! ( 8 feet tall )So with the new addition to my shop, it has forced me to repaint. Not only that but I needed to rearrange everything!

I decided the best place for Carol ( the nail tech.) would be in the room that is now used for the shop break room. It has a small couch, computer, fridge, microwave... So now my job has been to take all that stuff and put it other places through out the shop. Got that done. :)
Now we are on to the painting. Since the walls are that darker purple color we thought that putting a primer up would make repainting easier. So me and Donna ( she has the tanning) spent 3 days priming the walls. I then went to Lowe's and picked up 6 gallons of a medium sage green color.

The plan is to paint all but the walls by my area, the sage green color and the walls by my station a tan earth tone color.( I am getting the tan color today)

After work Saturday, we started to paint. Turns out we did not need to prime since the new color was darker or close to the old shade. :irked: Now we have to do two coats of the new paint to cover the white primed walls. Keep in mind the walls are about 8 feet tall. Oh well..it has to be done ;)

We worked until 8pm last night before running out of steam. Heading back out about 11am today to finish up. Carol starts Monday. Everything has to be done today. :wacky:

The shop is a total mess! Needless to say, we are not neat when it comes to painting. When we are finished, we will have to get on our knees to scrub the floors and scrape the paint off the vinyl baseboard.

When all is done and cleaned up, I will post some pics. Until then, wish me luck! :p

Sounds like a great deal of hard work, TC, but I'm sure the shop will look amazing once it is completed! :)

You should get Carol to wear a NIN [Nine Inch Nails] T-shirt!! that would be really quirky and funny! just for a laugh

hey I like the sound of that! nice cool sage green and earth tones! grooooooooovy TopCatBaby!! I imagine it would look more modern and bloke friendly ;) I'd visit your salon ....not for a haircut though! crikey! :yikes:

Yeah painting loses it's "fun" factor quite rapidly when you're doing large areas, but it's going to look awesome!!

8ft walls? You have your work cut out for you. Good luck, TC.

I know my Mom wants to paint her house and she wants me and my aunt and uncle to help out sometime this summer. Her walls are about 8ft. also.

How exciting, TC! I, too, am a messy painter. I had never painted anything but pictures (I'm messy there, too!) but I could not STAND the ugly brown spongepainting on one of my living room walls so I had to do something about it. I spent 8 hours repainting my living room on Black Friday. Paint was everywhere, you can still see some of it! lol

I also repainted my bedroom and that was about as messy.

I can't wait to see what it looks like when you're done. I remember the dark purple, I bet the green will look even better!

That will look great! You did the right thing to prime the walls though, because paint often comes out the the can one color and dries another. The white made sure that you are getting a nice, reliable, even look without the purple bleeding through. When you get it done, you will be happy that you did all the prep work.

PICS! We wants our pics, lady!

Thanks everyone!

Right now I am worn out...100% Got the entire shop painted with 2 coats. All that is left to paint are a few places near the ceiling. We simply ran out of steam  Next up is scrubbing the floors clean. We got a good bit of paint on the floor. :o Then putting stuff back where it belongs. I will try to remember to get a pic of the shop in it's almost done state Tuesday.

And for the record, Carol is the 4th nail tec in our town. :talkhand: She was working at the shop around the corner but we took her. :mwaha: Long story that I won't go into ( you are welcome for those who said thanks.. )
sorry.....could not resist:p

Carol was fired by the owner of that shop because the owner found out that Carol was offered a job in a near by town. Yet Carol turned them down... but I guess that did not matter to the owner. The owner told Carol right in from of her customers, to get her shit and get out. Soo...being a small town we heard the details and asked Carol to come work at E-Clips. The added bonus is she is just around the corner from her old place and will be less likely to lose her customers. Plus it is a big FU in the face of her previous employer. :D

Well Kitty, every little bit of business will help! Good to hear there are FOUR techs there! I'd hate for those people to not have somebody in town to do their nails!

Tape and a plastic drop cloth could have saved you a lot of clean up work. I used to paint homes for a living so I have lots of trick I am willing to share. Just don't ask me to actually paint.

Congrats on the new employee and the new shop look.
Can't wait to see it.

Finally got the pics.

Now you all can see where I spend most of my life. :p

We still need to remove the old baseboard and some places need baseboard. Plus, I need to paint the doors and trim and finish the bathroom. The last things I want to do is reupholster my shampoo chair and dryer chairs and refinish the floors. I would love to be able to afford laminate flooring but since I do not own the building, I am not about to spend a fortune fixing up someone else's floors.

The feedback from customers is awesome! The colors make you feel cozy as soon as you walk in. Worth all that work. :thumb: :)

Totally!! What shocks me is when they tell you stuff that is a bit naughty. One customer of mine once told me how she was having an affair with a married guy. :uhoh:

T, the shop looks awesome! Is that little skinny girl still running the beds? She told me she bought them off that Derek guy.

Old people say the dirtiest things....things they would never have said 30 years ago but now everyone who'd be shocked is dead.

Yeah she does. She is doing an awesome job too. Now though, there are two super skinny gals at the shop. Which means I will be referred to as the fat one. :irked:

Topcatbaby! what do you do in that situation!??
I would be like: "oh....uh....um......nice weather we're having... :uhoh: "

Wowee! so you can do that multi-tasking thing that fascinates me about women - you can cut, foil, bleach, tint, curl & blowdry the persons hair WHILE chatting about the issues of the day & solving all their personal problems WHILE taking appointments over the phone AND making them a coffee ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!!

you gotta love that! ;)
