I'm hosting my first Bunco party next month. I was wondering what would be good to serve for snacks. Besides the typical vegetable tray. Any recipes for dips would be appreciated. :)

Beer Dip! I'm bringing that to my friend's housewarming party tonight as her special request.

2 packages of cream cheese, room temperature
1 packet of dry ranch
1 pack of shredded cheddar (can use more or less, depending on what you prefer)
1/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup beer (Leinie's Honeyweiss is the best for this but any will do)

Mix the first 4 ingredients together until blended. Add beer, it will look gross. Mix together and let the dip sit overnight in the fridge. Do NOT make this the day you are serving, it needs to sit overnight.

You can add some cheddar cheese on top for presentation. Serve with pretzels. My favorite are the Honey Wheat pretzels.

This is one that I kind of make without really measuring anything because I have been making it for so long, but this is the approximate:

1 cup of mayonnaise
4 tablespoons of honey
4 tablespoons of prepared mustard (I use Plochman's)

Mix the honey and the mustard together untill they are well blended and then put the mayo in and stir. You may have to adjust this to your taste, of course, because I just kind of make it.

Another one that I make is ultra simple

1 8 ounce brick of cream cheese
16 ounces of sour cream
two cans of clams

let the cream cheese warm at room temp for about ten minutes. Open both cans of clams, but only drain one. Put the contents of both cans (one with broth, one without) in a bowl with the cream cheese and whip them together until the mixture is smooth. Add the sour cream and stir.

the spices you might add, according to your taste might be garlic powder, Worstershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, a little ranch dressing or other savory or hot spice. I like it just how it is because I really like the taste of clams.

Pita chips with hummus and taboule is really good. If you haven't ever had hummus or taboule, hummus is ground chick peas with a little olive oil, and taboule is parsley, tomato, sometimes pine nuts and couscous together, very juicy and good.

Mexican dip.. I love this!

1 can refried beans
2 sm. cans chopped green chilies
1 lb. ground beef
1 tsp. chili powder
Salt & pepper to taste
2 tsp. chopped cilantro
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 block Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
1 jar picante sauce
1 (8 oz.) container sour cream
Chopped lettuce, tomato & onion
1 sm. can sliced black olives
Tortilla chips
Guacamole

Spread refried beans in bottom of 9"x13" pan. Brown ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic and cilantro; drain. Add chili powder. Spread ground beef over refried beans. Spread green chilies over ground beef followed by picante sauce. Sprinkle with cheese and bake in 350 degree oven until cheese melts. Remove from oven and allow to cool 10 to 15 minutes. Spread sour cream and guacamole on cheese. Cover with remaining chopped lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Sprinkle with sliced black olives. Serve with tortilla chips.

I was thinking that, too, Dio.

Taco Dip 1:

1 package cream cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1 jar chili sauce
1 pound ground sausage (or hamburger, if you prefer)
1 small onion
1 package shredded taco cheese
shredded lettuce

Soften cream cheese, mix well with sour cream, spread over large tray. Cover with layer of chili sauce. Brown and drain meat, put over cream cheese & chili sauce. Top with finely chopped onion, shredded lettuce and taco cheese. Chill in fridge for about an hour. Serve with tortilla chips. Scoops do the best job.

Taco Dip 2:

2 packages cream cheese
1 to 1 1/2 cups sour cream
1 package taco seasoning
1 package taco or cheddar cheese

Mix first three ingredients, spread on tray, top with cheese, serve with tortilla chips.

Chicken dip:

3 cans Underwood chicken (the tiny can with the red devil on it)
1 package cream cheese
1 cup shredded cheese - any mix

Soften cream cheese and mix with chicken. Use a mixer if you want, it mixes it better. Put in a small crock pot to warm. Top with cheese when warmed. Serve warm. Serve with Ritz or Town House crackers.

If you don't have a small crock pot (I don't), put it in a medium sauce pan and heat on low heat, stirring occasionly, for about 10 - 15 minutes.

I have one for fruit dip somewhere, but I think you can find it on the 'net. :)

Glad to know I'm not the only one clueless on the Bunco thing!

I think it's a type of dice game. A lady at work plays it all the time. I had never heard of it either!

This should explain

Now we're going to tell you the truth...
Bunco is a social event. It's a party. It's a blast!
Twelve of us get together once a month, leaving the cares and worries behind, and leaving the kids with their fathers or baby-sitters. We fall off our diets, snacking on M&Ms, Chex-Mix, or anything else we can get our hands on. We have appetizers, a (usually) delicious dinner, and seconds on dessert. We drink our favorite spritzer, Chardonnay, or Drink-of-the-night, and we talk.
We talk about our kids. About the neighbors. About anyone who didn't show up. About our husbands, our jobs, their jobs, the builder in our community, TV shows, current events, and anything else that might tickle our fancy.
Oh yeah, and we play a silly, mindless dice game with wild abandon, hoping to take home a few more sheckles then we arrived with.
