I'm sure this has been done somewhere here before, but we can do it again :)

So what do you miss most about it?

For me, it just felt different than any other time. Especially the early 80's. It seemed like anything's possible, and it was a friendlier, more creative time.

I miss just the whole atmosphere, even the bad things feel good in retrospective.

Hard to pin down...

I miss my youth. lol Growing older isn't as thrilling as it seems when you are a kid and can't wait to grow up and get respected. Sometimes Respect doesn't come to you even after you've grown up.

I miss video arcades

I miss video channels

I miss turning on the radio and hearing awesome pop music

I miss my friends in school

I miss having my library job and being able to spend what I made on fun things. Damn utility and rent bill anyways!

I miss...(and this sounds bad) but...I miss my innocence. Of not really caring about what is happening outside my little world. There is alot of bad stuff going on in the world that I can do little about.

I miss my family. I'll explain. In the 80s, dad had a good job at the coal mine, and everybody was reasonably healthy up until May 1987. Then dad's health got alot worse. Then mom got sick. And I've noticed how much older my parents seem now. Nobody gets along, they are all sick. They are all tired. Money is no longer as easy to come by as it was back then, so stress level is through the roof.

I miss the fashion of the 80s. I miss my purple leg warmers and my jeans with the satin piping up the seams. I miss wearing bows and headbands.

I miss having dreams and goals and thinking I have my whole life ahead of me. That I can do anything if I work hard enough at it. I guess I just miss...the possibilities (even if they were never practical)

One thing I don't miss? Jelly shoes. Bwahahaha

I miss it all. What can I say? The music, The atmosphere, the innocence. There weren't the worries that we all have now. It was just a better time all the way around.

I try to stay in that 'feel good' zone of innocence and 'anything's possible.' It works until someone messes it up. lol

I just bought a cd that brings back good memories. I remember loving the video and how happy things were at that time.

What's reality, anyway? It's all the eye of the beholder.

I know what you mean. I try to keep the inocence going as well. There's something to be said for being positive even if others around you arn't.
BTW, what was the Cd? Curious.

The 80's was a great time, it was a decade full of colour and life. I guess for most of us, it seems better because we had less responsibilities. I remember it as being my time in the "sun" I was young and hip and cool. I knew everything:hyper: In truth I knew little:) Music seemed more upbeat and positive, it was more about having fun. 80-87 was the best for me, I played in bands, wrote songs, played sport, met way to many pretty girls. But I wouldn't change a second.

You're right. Music was a lot more upbeat and positive. It just made you feel good. Even now when I'm sad, or in a bad mood if I put on some 80s tunes it lifts me up. Don't laugh, but there's a magic there.

I miss it on two levels.

One was just being young. I graduated HS in 1985 and I think I changed more from year to year in the 80s than since I have in the last 10 years. That time of my life will always stand out.

Beyond just being young, the decade was a really fun time. People seemed to enjoy themselves more and not be so damn negative. Life is pretty cushy today, but people want to turn everything into a crisis. Then we have the PC crowd and the nanny state. :irked: I'm still hoping people get sick and tired of busybodies and turn the 2010s into the next great decade. :yesnod:

You're right about the nebativity. There's way too much of it now. Too much drama.

I miss everything about the 80's, especially the music. It was a different era when people where nice to each other and would go out of their way to help each other. It was more laid back and the world didn't feel like it was going a thousand miles an hour.

That was the best I've heard it said yet. There'll never be another decade like the 80s.

I am so glad that I wasnt imagining that there was less negativity. It seems today there is so much drama, and if there isnt enough in someones life, they just make it up.
I was naive back then. But I was happy. I'd rather know less now, and be happy like I was then.
If I hear Prince's "Pop life" I am automatically brought back to when I used to use "sun in" in my hair.

No, you're not the only one who feels the negativity. It's all over.
I agree with you. I too would rather know less and be happier.
People are so sinical now. It's very sad.

Most everything. But one think in particular...the innocence of the 80's (Not that we were naive or all that innocent) All the adult content that is in your face now is crazy.

It seems it was more style back then. Also more diversity in stlye, you had the jocks, preppies, the rockers, b. boys etc.....
The music like everyone said, I was into rap but it was so different then
not like NOW.
