okay, now I'm embarrassed. I posted this in the heavy metal section but then saw RATT referenced here so I'm officially confused. Moderators, if you feel this is too much, just feel free to pull whichever thread you feel is inappropriate. I've posted my cry for help in the heavy metal section but it seems that I also need to look at hard rock and glam rock bands. And if someone likes Mark Lanegan as well, then do you make them a metal compilation or go for hard rock as well. What's the difference anyway? Okay, more aggressive riffs on the guitars and the clothes might be different. But where do you draw the line? I guess in the U.S. the lines are more divided but here in mainland Europe it seems to be just another ,ix o genres. Help.

s to what separates Metal from Hard Rock, well that is subjective. I'll list some bands, classified according to me, and you check them out and see if they are what you need. To me both have an attitude to them for the most part and its up to the listener to decide if that attitude is hard or heavy. Some bands like Bon Jovi are easy but others like Scorpions maybe tougher. I dont know too much about these bands except that most are from 80s ( or at least had major songs in 80s). The fact that you are trying to do what you are should be good enough. Don't Worry about getting all the perfect bands on 1 CD. Or if possible get a MP3 player so you can give him more than just 15-20 songs
