I just learned that a local station in Orlando now has "80s at 8(pm)"- every day! Is that a good sign or what!? Because usually all they play is crappy alternative, dance and R&B- it's murder trying to get good music here!
The only problem is they are playing WAY too much Gen-X "I'll Stop The World and Melt With You" and Prince stuff! Oh well it's better then the usual junk isn't it Gov'ner? Isnt it.
Hey why don't we mention all 80s revival updates in this thread? Give it a go- whattya ya say

there are a lot of 80s shows (well 3 or so- but thats a lot) on the internet- if you have a PC theoretically you can always be in the groove! But for Orlando we are lucky to have Mix 105.1
There is no escaping "alternative" music, which is really just "grunge" or "hippy rock" if you get down to it!
The radio DJs hate society at large- they know alternative music is the pits so they make sure it's always on the dial! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//eek3.gif

Austin's 102.3 used to play 'classic' rock from the 70's, 80's and 90's. I was mostly happy with it. (I have to admit I like hippy rock). But, they just changed their format to all 80's!!!! They play mostly pop! I was a headbanger but the music they play (INXS, U2, Michael Jackson, The Police, etc.) still brings back a lot of memories. I mean, I didn't even remember what Madonna originally sounded like! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif And I forgot about bands like Wang Chung and The Thompson Twins (who were the twins in that band anyway?). It's a great trip down memory lane! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

I got MIX 98.5 down here. Their regular rotation is 80's, 90's, and today's best rock/pop. They play all 80's from 12 noon to 1. They play another block of 80's at 8 pm. Then they have "Back to the 80's Friday Night" and the same thing Saturday night where they play non-stop 80's from 7 to 12 http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif It makes good road music on Friday/Saturday nights http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

annual_mayhem, I was in New Braunfuls this weekend and listened to a little Austin radio. 102.3 was still calling itself "classic rock." I did hear some good songs though.

Have you listened to 107.7, They are an all 80's format now.

Ooopps! TJ, you're right! I got the stations mixed up! Where I live, there is about 5 stations that play a good mix of music that includes hits from the 80's. including 107.7! I feel so dumb http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//uhoh2.gif

Even though few are as near to brilliance as I, I would not at all consider you dumb!
Obviously we will start seeing 80s-only stations popping up- I mean how long can they continue playing things in blocks, and where Roem is more then once a day, without taking it to it's natural conclusion.
And they will have to start playing things that weren't just in the top 40 or only popular among weirdos on community college campuses! NOT that there is anything wrong with community college! You know what I mean.
Also I'd like to point out that the evil dervishes of the world have gone to such lengths in a vain attempt to bury the 80s that YES, people have forgotten what Madonna sounds like, what real movie popcorn tastes like, what Garbage Pail Kids cards look like, etc. More importantly they have almost forgotten how nice society used to be. Which is ALLLL part of the enemy's plan!

I'm going to start a thread in the Radio section where we can post email address to radio stations playing 80s music. From there, we could simply click on the link and email the station thanking them. After that, we'll get some stations email addresses that don't play 80s music and, well.. Harrass them. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//hammer.gif
