I have had a 85 plus pound golden retriever for 4 years, a big sissy, has never bit the kids or been aggressive in any way except play fighting . So earlier this week my gf buys a 8.5 pound shorgi (shiz tsu- corgi mix), I hate him, back to house training, and the only thing worse than stepping in a big heaping pile of warm dog shit when you wake up is a cold pile ( I learned this, this morning) .
so anyway Saxon (the golden) has taken a back seat from my gf and the kids, the dog is so passive the little one comes over and takes his food or chew toy and Saxon just walks away.
So last night the little one (Andy, the kids names him, I wanted to call him Pliny the elder) was climbing over me and attacking me, play fighting, so Stupid Glenn decides to prentend he's being attacked , begging for help from Saxon and oh boy did I get it!!. Saxon attacked the small Shorgi, it took everything I could do to protect the Shorgi, then after I thought everything was calmed down, Saxon attacked again, then crawled up on my lap shaking (he's 85 pounds he doesn't get to sit on my lap), and then for the rest of the night he lied beside my chair and wouldn't allow the shorgi near me.
It's kind of nice to see the dog will protect me, I always wondered if he would even show any aggression if someone like the Taliban came after me, but I guess I shouldn't have trained him on a defensless 3 month old 8 pound puppy....... geez I never knew that was going to happen
