GET WELL SOON VAL!!!! Geez....I can't believe this. What happened??? A lung just doesn't collapse on its own. Is something deeper at work here?
We all love you Val, (especially me!) and I'm sending out some serious good thoughts your way. Even if you don't follow Her path, the Goddess is watching over you...cause I asked Her to!

Sam
I refuse to believe that Val will be anything but fine.
So while she's making a brief pit stop in hospital I trust she is making life miserable for the female nurses and pinching the bottoms of all the males.
May the Lord protect you and comfort you in your time of need.
The Lord hears all prayers and he will hear ours.

80sSmurf 8-10-01, 07:49 PM http://www.plauder-smilies.de/sad/smhair1.gif I'm shocked. I litteraly had the chills when I read this.

GET WELL VAL
Hey Jazz, maybe we can get kind of a group spell for Val? We'll pick a certain time, and everyone who knows how can send their energies her way. I'll do some research as to what will be needed to do so. What do you think?
That sounds like a really good idea to me Pagan. just let me know how you want to do it. I'll be here when I can.
Here is an update....
Val called me today at work. She said she is hanging in there. If things go well she should be home in a couple of days.
I told her everyone here wishes her well and she said she can't wait to read what everyone said.
I wanted to cheer her up a little so I told her what DJ had posted here. She laughed
Pagan and Jazz, she would like that
I am going to give her a box load of tissues for when she reads what everyone has said.
Hurry back Val! It's not the same without you in the chat room ...
djdaffy1227 8-10-01, 10:08 PM That's what I'm here for!

Val would love that! However, I can't give her home address out, but I can give my shop address If anyone wants to send her flowers or whatnot send them to.....

I am not going to tell her about this,so it will be a susprise. I doubt she will read this anytime soon Besides I was not about to PM everyone with the address
that's a great idea Pagan; about gathering together online as a group and asking for healing for Val. We do that in some online spiritual groups. People say it helps, and doesn't have to be in person. It's all energy, intent, and divine forces..
when a time can be agreed on, count me in.

That is great news topcat!! Tell her to take it easy and not to push herself when she does get home.
(((((Hugs))))) For Val and Get well soon
Okay...here's the deal then. Sunday night, 10:00 PM eastern time. What you need to do is this...I picked the easiest incense to make. Since it will be Sunday night, you have a couple of days to get this is you don't have it. For those of you who do not share Wiccan or Pagan beliefs, please do not mock what follows. It is all ritual, like in any other religion. I doubt anyone in here will do that though. So far there are no jerks on the Xchange!
Go to an herbal store (preferably a Wiccan supply store, but any herbs'll do in a pinch) and get some rosemary and some juniper berries. Also get a blue tapered candle and a charcoal block in order to burn the incense on.
On Sunday before 10:00 PM, grind the herbs together into a fine powder, and put them into a bowl. You don't have to make a ton of the stuff, just enough that it will burn nicely for about ten minutes. The entire time you're grinding them down, visualize what they will be used for, in other words....picture Val healthy. Now you're ready to empower them with your personal energies. Do this in a quiet place where you won't be disturbed.
Light the blue candle. (for healing purposes) Hold the bowl with the herbs in it, and visualize yourself with the type of power desired for the mixture. Build up your emotions regarding the mixture's purpose.
Now, begin to build up your personal power. I like to do this by slowly tensing my muscles, working my way from my feet up to my hands. When your whole body is tense, visualize the power concentrating in your hands, right down to your fingertips. Then visualize it streaming from your hands into the mixture of herbs. I like to viualize it as a purple mist streaming from my fingers into the bowl.
Say to yourself:
"I charge you by the Sun and Moon
To consume illness
To wash away its causes and to heal
So mote it be!"
When you feel drained of energy, you'll know you did it right. Set the bowl down and shake your hands vigorously to cut off the flow of energy, then relax your body. Pinch or snuff out the candle, do not blow it out, as it is an offense to the air elemental.
When it's 10:00 PM, light the charcoal block and sprinkle a pinch or two of the mixture on it. Then light the blue candle again, and we'll meet in the chatroom and send our energies out together.
Sounds like a plan?

morningmyst 8-11-01, 03:51 AM Pagan? Are we doing this at 10pm EASTERN? I"m assuming so since most of the members are from the East Coast....AND...even though I"m not a "practicing" wiccan, can I still do this? Would it work for me? I want to help in any way I can...
You can easily do this yourself Myst. It's 10 eastern sunday night. I'll do what I can that night. Have to work tomorrow. I'll try to get the things needed sunday afternoon.
Thanks for coming up with the spell to use Pagan. We all want to see Val better.
Update....
I called Val today at the hospital.
She said that on Monday they are probley going to have to do surgery to staple her lungs. So that they don't collapse again.
The doctors said there is a 85% to 95% chance that this will prevent her lung from collapasing again. (I hope I got that info correct) If that is what is needed to prevent a reoccurance than it's for the good.
I told her everyone here wishes her well. I mentioned the ones who were in the chat room with me who wanted me to mention them. Here is what she says....
"I am alright. I should be home Wed. or Thurs. Thanks for worring about me, but please don't worry. I will be OK! Don't count me out yet. "
I mentioned what Pagan and Jazz are going to do. She said "thank you" I mentioned it was going to be around 10pm! She should "feel something" than
That's all for now

Blaziegirl 8-12-01, 09:58 AM WOW! Stapling, sounds scary as hell to me... Do they know what caused her lung to collapse yet? Tell her she'll be in my thoughts & prayers on Monday also
8teesBuff 8-12-01, 12:50 PM Here is a little info in case you are wondering why this happened all of a sudden.
I may have some of this slightly incorrect, but I will to the best I can. Val can correct any misinformation when she gets back.
Right before Thanksgiving of last year, she was having trouble breathing and had a pain in her side. She called her husband and he came home. She told him, she would be fine if she just laid down and took a nap, but he insisted she go to the hospital.
So she went, and that's when they told her that her left lung had collapsed. She was told it was probably caused by the fact that val's bone structure/build is small in her rib area. Apparently, this is common in females that are built thin, and her rib had rubbed a hole in her lung.
While in the hospital, they had to wait to let the hole seal up on it's own. Well, it seals up, they took her off the ventilator and it did it again while she was in there!
Well, it sealed up again and then they released her. She has been fine ever since till last week.
Now it's her right one and I hear it has something to do that she had pneumonia a couple times in her life and it leaves some kind of a "spot" (I forget the exact name of it) and her ribs on her right side had rubbed a hole on one of those spots.
AS I SAID, SOME OF THIS COULD BE WRONG, BUT IT JUST GIVES A LITTLE MORE INSIGHT AS TO THE SITUATION. VAL CAN CORRECT ANYTHING OR FILL IN THE SPACES WHEN SHE RETURNS.
wow. thanks for the info. it helps us to know about warning signs, etc.
val's a fighter.
i'm sure she'll be fine in no time!
i'll be there tonight in the chat room.
see you there!
OH VAL... I just hate this... it's not fair that she has to go through so many collapsed lungs! Those doctors better get it right this time so she doesn't have to go through this again!
Good luck with surgery Val.. WE LOVE YOU!
Sal Collaziano 8-12-01, 01:51 PM Wow. I just found this thread! I'm so sorry to hear about what's going on. But, I think the surgery will work out and everything will be fine. I had surgery to repair my heart on January 31st and everything has been great since then. These doctors and surgeons really know what they're doing. If there's anything they can do, they do it. I'm sure she'll be alright.
You're in my thoughts and prayers, Val! You're gonna be just fine...
8teesBuff 8-12-01, 03:56 PM OK.
I just talked to Val's husband.
Those "spots" that I couldn't remember the names of are called "blebs". Apparently there are many things that can cause them. Some are born with them, sometimes they just form. It is basically like scar tissue. Well, this time, it burst and made a hole in her lung and it's not sealing up on it's own like the other one did.
So her surgery will consist of removing the ones on her lung and sealing them up, so that the right one will not collapse again.
this will give her a 98% chance of it NOT collapsing again. So, in the event that the left one collapses again, she still has one good lung.
I hope this is right! I always hate being the messenger... something always gets messed up. LOL!!
morningmyst 8-12-01, 04:08 PM Thanks for the info Buff.... We appreciate it!

I've been away the past week and only got around to a couple of posts here during that time, and then today I found this forum. I was totally shocked to read all of this happening to Val.
