Sunday night my oldest son (17) had some bad stomach pain. We thought it was cramps so we gave him medicine and sent him to bed. The pain got worse in the night and woke him up, so my wife took him to the ER (I was at work) and it turns out he had appendicitis. He had an appendectomy early Monday morning.

He's doing ok (other than being really sore), but he had us worried there for awhile. He's been a real trooper and I'm very proud of him. Hopefully, he'll be able to come home Tuesday morning.

Yikes! :yikes: Scary thing, Buc! I understand that's some incredible kind of pain to deal with. Your son must be one heck of a tough guy to go to bed and try to sleep!! Glad everything's back on track now!

Update! He's getting to come home this evening. He'll have to lay around for another day or two, but he's on the mend.

Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes! :) We're very lucky that we caught the problem so early.

Just wait, when asked about the scar he’ll be telling all the chicks: “Yeah, it was scary fighting :fight: off all those ninjas while saving those kids from that burning building but, a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do.” :verycool:

Glad to here he’s going to be ok. I’ll add your family to my prayer list.

 OMG! I just saw this!! Nolan!! I'm so glad he's doing better! I swear, appendicitis scares the crap out of me! Everytime one of my kids gets crampy like that... I'm always checking around on their tummy's. Is there anything in particular that you look for? Fever? Specific kind of stomach pain?

Thanks Kimmy!

We've had alot of false-alarms with appendicitis too, kids tummies hurt alot don't they? We were lucky that it was our 17 y/o, because he is old enough to know the difference between hurts and HURTS. One classic symptom that he had was pain that was a general abdominal pain that later localizes in the lower right area. They can also have diarrhea or constipation, vomiting, and fever, but those all come later. My son's pain got really bad over the course of 24 hours, so we went on that alone and caught it early.

Well, if anything Good can come of this, it's that he'll never have to worry about this happening again.. I'm glad everything turned out okay!
