View Full Version : Writing posts in different colors - Does it bother you?
Miss INXS 11-26-05, 04:21 PM I used to post using blue text till it was brought to my attention the fact that on their end the blue text was pretty hard to read and they'd find themselves having to highlight it in order to read it. And they were right!
I guess I never realized that, since my theme is light purple...but I can see how blue or other dark text colors could be hard to read for those with darker themes.
So...does it bother you? Do you find it annoying? I personally don't mind...but I am sure that if I ever switched to a darker theme, that could become an issue. :bouncy:
So....fess up! Does it bother ya? :p
Roemello 11-26-05, 04:30 PM It only bothers me if I can't actually READ what's being typed  Otherwise it's no big thing to me... I use the Emerald Isle style, so unless someone posts in a light green or white, everything looks perfect :)
For general posting, I'd say it's better to just stick with the default text color for the given style used... that way it looks good and readable for everyone no matter what style they're using  Then maybe use the colors for sigs, PMs, etc. if a personal touch is desired there :)
stlkev70 11-26-05, 04:40 PM Honestly, no it doesn't bother me. Actually, I think adds a lot of personality!
The only time it does affect me is when the posts are in blue because my background is the same.
I use pretty in pink, so yes it bothers me. In fact, I usually have to highlight anything that isn't black or dark blue to read it.
I know, I know...just change my background style...but it's not that easy. I've been using the pink ever since Roem added it. I'd feel weird if it was any other color.
Well, I had swithced to PURPLE RAIN for a while, but the colors seemed off, so I went back to blood nite, or whatever its called. I hate the colored text people use, but that's just me.
Jazzmyn 11-26-05, 06:19 PM Doesn't really bother me much. If I really want to read it, I find a way to do it. lol I use the Purple Rain theme since Roemy made it after I said I'd love to see one. ;) My fave color.
jillybean 11-26-05, 06:28 PM I use pretty in pink, so yes it bothers me. In fact, I usually have to highlight anything that isn't black or dark blue to read it.
Same with me. I love colors but I can't read them on here and it's a pain in the arse to highlight when I still can't read them anyway. (yellow or orange are the hardest for me, I can't see them no matter what I do).
I have the Electric Blue style. Someone used a dark red font in another thread that I had to highlight to read. Usually, it's not a problem, though.
80sTrivia 11-26-05, 08:43 PM Sometimes it can be slightly annoying when the color isn't compatible with my selected forum skin, but as others have said, you just have to highlight it for readability... :)
Glenn Gulia 11-26-05, 10:04 PM Another Emerald Isle user, yep light colored text bugs me.
I use Bloody night and the blue text was never a bother to me...I actually have a harder time reading the BLACK text then I do the blue but otherwise text color doesn't bother me at all.
80's fanatic 11-27-05, 01:12 AM It doesn't bother me either, except for the light colors, yellow and the light green/blue. The yellow is the worst. I use the light purple skin, and for the most part I have been able to read everything without a problem. I, myself, like to use the different colors to post with. I don't like using just black, I like to show some personality when I post.:)
I use Emerald Isle also. It don't bother me too much. Like PG and Jilly, I hightlight the text.
nolanbuc 11-27-05, 07:01 AM It doesn't really bother me, but when I have to highlight a post to read it...that's a pain in the arse. So those posts I usually just skip altogether.
Caligula 11-27-05, 07:34 AM now that i know about hi liting the text it won't bother me
Doesn't bother me in the slightest...but what does bother me is tHiS SoRt oF wRiTiNg! ;)
BrandyBlue 11-27-05, 10:16 AM No, I think it's just an extension of the personality of the person posting--I can always highlight it to read it. It's just one more of those things that makes it all so unique here! :)
Christine 11-27-05, 01:14 PM No not usually, unless it's in orange or yellow or a difficult to read color.
KimJoy69 11-28-05, 12:03 PM I use Purple Rain... used to use Blood Night, so the dark posts I can't read. I just highlight it, if I need to.
