Lets put it to a vote. If I left a place out, we can do a new poll. The reason I'm pushin this a bit is that some of these places are resort areas. If you haven't made hotel reservations by March, you may lose out.

Never been there. Is it a restaurant? They only two restaurants I have been to on the Riverwalk are The Hard Rock Cafe and some Mexican restaurant that I don't remember the name.

Okay, if we do this on a weekend in May, the dates we can choose are: 4&5, 11&12, 18&19, or 25&26. I can get off any of these weekends by either shifting my schedule or taking a couple days of vacation. Which one works best for you guys?

This is far enough out that any weekend in May works for me. Y'all post some more replys so we can finalize it. That way we can figure out where were gonna stay (we might even get lucky and get some kind of bulk rate if we stay at the same hotel). If we do that, we need to discuss what type of hotel we stay at (as in how much you want to spend). Just some thoughts...

I need to do a search of some hotels close to the Riverwalk. That way if we party a little too hard, we don't have to drive anywhere. :D

I've only been to SA once in the last 10 years or so. But, when I was there about 3 years ago, we stayed at a hotel that was walking distance from the Riverwalk. We got a discount on the web, I think it was about $80/night, regular price was $115/night. I don't remember the name of the hotel but it was very nice. If that's a little high, I'm sure there are others just as close for a little less.
I'll be in Dallas for a convention/training class in mid-January. Supposedly, they'll be putting us up in a 5-star hotel. Suddenly, I'm looking forward to it. :D

I have been doing some research tonight on San Antonio hotels. It looks like we will pay $100 or more a night to stay on the Riverwalk. All the cheap stuff is already booked. I just want to say something before everyone meets me. In the xchange, I am real outgoing, but in real life i'm kinda quiet at first. Once I get to know people, then I talk up a storm! The Hyatt-Riverwalk is very nice. I believe they have a sky pool at the top of the building. I'm not certain, but Fiesta may be goint that weekend and that could be the reason for the limited bookings.

There may be a problem getting rooms if Fiesta is happening that weekend. Does anyone know for sure when that falls? I know it's usually around Cinco de Mayo. I'm not sure we got everyones response to what their monetary limit may be. I really don't care where we stay, it doesn't necessarily have to be on the Riverwalk or are we set on that? I know there are Motel 6's all around and that may be more affordable for some. Whatever the decision, we need to make reservations very soon, just in case Fiesta does fall that weekend.

I thought we were going to meet Saturday morning, not arrive on Friday, Gman? It would be a little hard for me to get down there Friday night since I don't get off of work until 5 pm. Plus, I don't like really driving alone at night (in case my car broke down or something).

As far as where to stay, why don't everyone just get there own place where they want to stay. We can meet at a centralized location like the Alamo or something.:)

Well, if all of you are going to go up there on Friday. Just please don't get smashed the night before and not want to get up early the next morning. I was planning on leaving Austin about 7am Saturday morning and probably be there about 8:30 (give or take).

Depending on my finances between now and then, I might be able to swing Friday night also. I work in South Austin, so it will be pretty easy to just get up on IH-35 and go. Do any of you guys have a cell phone? That way if something happens we have a way of contacting each other. For instance, car problems, etc.

Hey, that might work. I still need to see what will happen in the next few months and get back with both of you. Believe me, I want to be there Friday night and make a full weekend out of everything.:)

I have lots going on between now and then. Most of it is work related. Also, May 4 is my anniversary! So, you guys keep posting (Foxx you may have to bug me about it). Otherwise, time will get away from me and it'll be too late to make reservations. I tend to procrastinate. I fully intend to be there, money shouldn't be an issue and I am so ready to party in San Antonio!!

I also wondered if maybe we could still find Not Another Teen Movie in a theatre up there? I think it'd be a blast to see together and then remember all the movies from our youth that they spoofed. (Maybe that's just me though, I do get goofy like that :D)

There is a club called "Polly Ester's" in San Antonio that plays '70's and '80's music. We also have one of these clubs in Austin. I found out that it is not too far from the Riverwalk.

I've stayed at the Riverwalk Marriott (remember that Judas Priest weekend, Denise?:angel: and I've also stayed at the Menger. They're both pretty nice. So far the weekend of the 11th is no problem. It doesn't matter to me where we stay but maybe we should try to get a room rate especially for the group. I've been in the hotel business and know that it would require a minimum number of rooms in order to get a group rate. I'd be happy to help with this if someone else hasn't already done so. Do we have a headcount and do we know how many rooms would we need?

This is so exciting! Our group just keeps growing! I am so glad to see you are coming Nikki. I was really wanting you to come. We need to get together soon before S.A. to meet since we live in the same city.:)

I replied to a pm by Denise (ViolettFoxx) and informed her of what I am going to make public now. I will not be able to attend the party in San Antonio in May. I know I am one of those who really pushed this and I was truly looking forward to meeting all of you in person. As Denise put it in the pm, have a drink in my honor.
Denise also asked why, I'd like to keep that personal. But, I will say that a lot of problems have surfaced on the homefront that my intuition tells me it would be better to be here. I know that is vague and probably a little weird but its all I can say on the matter for now. Y'all have fun!!!
