I see that everybody mentions the "greats" of the melodic rock scene here....Dokken, Stryper, Dep Leppard, Poison, and so on, but does aybody remember (or for that matter still like) these underdogs of the 80's? How about bands like Fifth Angel (melodic progessive, like Queensryche), Crimson Glory (another melodic progressive band, with masks!), Racer X (Paul Gilbert's (of Mr.Big) first band), Hurricane (had brothers of Carlos Cavazo and Rudy Sarzo of Quiet Riot in it), EZO (Japaneese rock like Loudness), and of course one of my favorites, Lillian Axe. Thoughts, comments, fond concert memories, hate mail? Let me know what you think - these bands deserve their due (at least as far as I am concerned!) Remember, just because they didn't sell a million records, or sell out arenas, doesn't mean they sucked! Till later, R.A. http://www.Atello.com

That's a great point! I've heard of a couple of those bands you mentioned.. This is why I believe 80's style rock/metal can still be big in the future. There are so many songs, old and NEW (ex. Atello), that are unknown. If they could just make it to the radio NOW, it would be huge!

LILLIAN AXE RULES!! How about Danger Danger? They kick ass and have a new CD out this month, RETURN OF THE GREAT GILDERSLEEVES. And of course, STEELHEART, the original lineup. SWEET F.A.!!!!!!! I could go on forever.

Yes, Steelheart, and Sweet F.A.! (I think I've got their whole catologs..) How about Baton Rouge, TNT, 220 Volt! I think I have more bands in my collection that only released 2 or 3 CD's, than the biggies in it like Dokken, Whitsnake, and the Scorpions combined! It's all great stuff! I love Steelheart. I saw them play a local club in 1990 or 1991 (can't remember). Anyhow, my friend undid the singers belt and started to undress him as he was singing...I couldn't believe what I was seeing! He didn't let her get too far though :) I love their albums so much!!! They rock! :)

I have never heard any of the names that any of you have mentioned. I really feel like a little kid now. I really regret being so young. I feel like I've missed out on a lot. Where can I find music from the bands you guys have mentioned?

Rockergirl
2-16-00, 02:02 PM
Amy, a lot of the CDs from these bands are available on Ebay, slightly used at a GREAT (cheap) price. You can usually get Steelheart, Sweet FA, Jetboy, Lillian Axe, Danger Danger, etc. right on Ebay.

How could bands like Y&T, Ashphalt Ballet, London Quireboys, Thunder and tons of others be forgotten? Bands like Alcatrazz, who spawned guitar greats Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen, or Warlock with Doro's incredible voice, how can you forget these? This is the music I grew up with and still listen to today. I go to record (remember those?) conventions and search for the hard to get gems. I have more tapes from bands that only had one hit song than most of my friends have tapes. These songs never go out of style, grunge was a phase, annoying, but just a phase..long live the real rockers!!!

CASH MONEY

CASH MACHINE, EASY MONEY FAST

A few weeks back I was browsing through bulletin boards, just as you are now, when I came across an article that said you could make thousands of dollars with an initial investment of $20. So I thought, just as you probably are right now, what a scam, but being curious, I kept on reading. Anyway, it stated that all I had to do was to send $5 to the 4 names provided on the list. Then I was told to place my own name & address at the bottom of the list at No. 4 & then post the article in at least 200 or more newsgroups & forums (there are thousands!!!) So I tossed the idea around for a few days & finally thought that the most I can lose is $20 and 4 stamps (that totals $21.36.) It's totally legal & I have checked this out. I called the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) & they confirmed for me that this is indeed legal. If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18, Sections 1302 and 1341 of the Postal Lottery Laws.
Well, now for the success, after posting my 4 letters, life went on and after a couple of days I gave up on seeing any money. But, at the end of the first the first 7 days, I received $125 in the mail. By the Friday of the 2nd week I had received over $4,000. I was ecstatic (this is fun!!!), but it gets better. Three weeks after posting just $20, I had made $43,000. After four weeks, I had made just over $101,000 & bought a 2001 Durango & a house. I am on cloud nine as this is better than winning the lottery. I promise you that if you follow these directions exactly as they are laid out here, that you will start making more money than you ever thought possible, from doing something so easy. If all the following directions are adhered too exactly, you will receive lots of cash in five-dollar bills. Please continue its success by adhering to the instructions, & let’s make this work for everyone. You will now become part of the Mail Order business. In this business your product is not solid & tangible, it's a service. You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. However, the money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income, which is made from people like you & I asking to be included in that list. OK, here is how this works.

Here are the 4 easy steps:

STEP 1: Get 4 separate pieces of paper & write the following on each piece of paper, "Please put me on your mailing list". Now, get 4 US $5 bills & place one inside each of the 4 pieces of paper so that it will not be seen through the envelope, as to prevent theft & mail fraud. Next, place one piece of paper with the $5 bill wrapped inside into each envelope and seal it. MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE ENOUGH STAMPS ON YOUR ENVELOPES, this will cover international costs, as you will send & receive mail from around the world. Now mail the 4 envelopes to the following 4 addresses:

1. Sean Buckley, 272 Woody Circle, Melbourne Beach, FL 32951
2. Troy Chandler, 108 S. Mulberry Ave. #2, Mt. Morris, IL 61054
3. Matthew Noland, 2109 SE 2nd Terr, Lees Summit, MO 64063
4. William Chatman 366 N. Broadway #401, Joliet, IL 60435

STEP 2: Now take the 1st name off the list that you see above, move the names up (4th becomes 3rd, & 3rd becomes 2nd, & 2nd becomes 1st) and add your name the 4th spot on the list. STEP 3: Now post the new article with your name at the 4th spot to at least 200 newsgroups (I think there are close to 24,000 newsgroups), online forums, message boards, chat rooms, discussion groups. REMEMBER, the more you post, and the MORE CASH you make. Everybody around the world can do this, so remember to put enough stamps on the envelope. STEP 4: Posting on newsgroups - You just copy this entire article, change the 4th name to yours and shift the others as stated above & save as a new word processor document. To do your own posting, simply put your cursor at the beginning of your newly saved article & drag your cursor to the bottom of the letter & select "copy" from the edit menu. Now use Netscape or Internet Explorer & search for various newsgroups, online forums, message boards, chat rooms, discussion groups. Visit these sites and post this article as a new message. Fill in the subject line (this will be the header that everyone will see as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group with something eye catching.) Now post to a minimum of 200 groups, but the more you do, the more you get paid (I posted my article about 500 times & I have made over $210,000.) Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new Internet users every day, with thousands of those joining the actual Internet, so the possibilities are endless.

THAT'S IT! Start checking your mailbox & you will begin receiving money from around the world in days. Start picking out that new car or toy you've always wanted because it's possible now. I sincerely hope that you can see the potential in this program. To finish, I would like to wish you every success & you may want to keep this letter so that you can post it in years to come, whenever you need money.

All the very best,

William

I grew up in the 80's and the 90's, Personaly, I think that the music of the 80's is the best. I cant believe its
been forgotten about. THe radio stations around here dont play nothing from that era. THat sucks. I think that the music now can go back to where ever it has came from... I think that the music from the 80's needs an applause for the great work. I love the music...

I have a couple petitions for everyone to sign. It's about how Mtv should play more rock, or give us our own channel. They had Mtv-X, which was an all rock channel with no commercials. They turned it into a rap channel, which is now MtvJams. Don't let Mtv do this to us. Please sign the petitions. Mtv-X showed a lot of Headbanger's Ball videos. Mtv took it down, so they could put some mainstream music on there. That goes to show you, they're just in it for the money. Don't let Mtv do this to us. Please sign. You can find the petitions on my band's website. It's: www.geocities.com/malice_ill_will/ Thank you for your time. -- Josh Conner
